This is a great product. Super neat design and works perfectly. Very well made. I have the Spurcycle on my road bike, but wanted to try this one on my Hybrid bike, despite all the bad reviews. I'm glad I did. Not only is the design top notch, but it functions perfectly. I've used it for about a month now. The striker is solid and produces a nice long, sustained ring, as you can tell from my video. My only regret is that I bought the large (because it was on sale) and had to place it close to my stem. It would be more convenient for me to have the small and placed near my grips, so I wouldn't have to move my hand to ring it - but usually not a big deal. Well packaged and easy to install (except I dropped the screw first attempt, and had a hard time finding it - after that, no sweat). The trick is to find the perfect spot on the handlebars. Mine were not perfectly round near the stem and I had to adjust the orientation of the bell until it would ring freely without the dreaded "clunk" sound some have reported. Be careful not to have any cables touching it or it will not work properly. I have used it literally hundreds of times in my nightly bike rides and it gives walkers good warning of my presence. No, it will not work in a busy city environment with traffic, but perfect for trail or neighborhood usage. I suspect most of the poor reviews are for the classic version with a reported vulnerable stricker. This Luxe version has solved that problem and is meeting all my expectations. Buy with confidence. I have it on a Trek FX3disc hybrid bike, but would have no problem if it were on my Trek Madone 3.1, as it is a nicely designed and engineered, state-of-the art piece of equipment.

This is the classiest bicycle bell I have ever had. It keeps a low visual profile on the handlebars, and that also makes it easy to install it anywhere you want and especially to fit it in tightly adjacent to other components like brake levers and gear shifters. While not as loud as some bells on the market, it is perfectly fine for bike trails and other relatively quiet situations. I would probably not use it in a noisy urban setting where bell signals are not just a polite signal but a safety device. But overall it has been functionally great and great looking -- this design deserves to be displayed in the Museum of Modern Art.

The best reason to buy this bell is for aesthetic purposes and because you can easily position it where you need it on your handlebar. The first one I bought broke after a year so I upgraded to the Luxe Oi. The Original Oi bell has a spring holding the hammer head. This spring is a compression spring about the quality you would find in a ball-point pen. Eventually, even with light use, it will fail and become unreliable. The luxe uses a hammer with what looks like a tension spring. This holds the hammer in alignment and should work for much longer. If you like the deisgn then buy the Luxe. The other issue is loudness. It's not a quiet bell but its no louder than an average bike bell. The larger Oi seems to ring more loudly at a lower frequency and the smaller Oi luxe I have rings less loudly at a higher frequency. I wouldn't expect people to hear it more than 20 ft away from you. On a hybrid bike doing my light commute, this is acceptable. On a road bike doing 20 mph, this bell won't give pedestrians enough time to react. I doubt any bell solution is appropriate for that scenario. I have an Incredibell and that is significantly louder (maybe 30 ft) but I think the preferable solution is an electric bike horn if you have serious needs. The bell is suspended on compression springs. I don't think this will fail with use but I could rip or deform the head of the bell easily with my fingers. THis is not a likely point of failure due to its low profile. Still, I can see how an MTB user might want it to be even more robust. But the fact a bell is functionally a thin piece of vibrating metal means most bicycle bells I've seen are fragile. I've bought two now. I like that it's compact but if you have explicit needs then you should look elsewhere. Don't kid yourself; No bell is going to be heard by pedestrians much less cars on rush-hour city streets. Either learn to bellow or get a horn.

tl;dr The large luxe version is plenty loud with a pure, cutting tone. I love it! The one to get is definitely the large luxe. I've read professional reviews indicating that the small luxe bell suffers from a design flaw, that the striker will bounce and dampen the resonance. The result is an unimpressive thunk! sound. The classic bells, both small and large, use a plastic striker that doesn't peal as strongly as a metal strike, nor is it as durable. Customer reviews on Amazon tend to align with these pro reviewers, as the more unfavorable reviews tend to correspond to the classic and the small luxe. Best to sick with large luxe only. In any case I have two other cheapo bells, both with plastic strikers. The Oi Luxe is louder with a longer ring than both. Before receiving my Oi I watched Knog's promo video in which installation was demonstrated. The video warns against driving the screw so far that the top and bottom of the ring meet. Space must be left to allow the top of the ring to resonate. In order to achieve this gap with a firm mount on my 25.4 mm handlebars, I used both the plastic shim and the adhesive rubber strip (both included), even though the instructions only demanded the rubber strip for 23.8 mm bars. I will not be contained! *rips shirt off*

Looks great and the design is really sleek and well made. Fit on the bars was solid and the bell sound was clear and easy to trigger. Unfortunately the spring trigger bar flew off after hitting a bump, which made it useless. Tried contacting the company and got no response regarding the issue.

I loved the look of this bell, but I was disappointed in the performance and value, with it often clanking more than ringing, and I was never impressed by the loudness. Also, it lasted less than four years before the spring stopped working at all, and the spring for the Oi Luxe is not user-replaceable. When I needed a replacement, I was definitely not inclined to get another Oi Luxe, but hesitated to get another Knog due to the lack of serviceability for the Oi Luxe. However, I ended up getting the newer Oi Prima... and it's great! Perhaps not as cool looking at the Oi Luxe, but it's similar in terms of being low-profile, and the ring is louder and much more consistent.

If you’re looking for a unique bell, this is it! This bell took me about two minutes from beginning to end to install. Easy!! I absolutely love how it looks on my bike, very sleek and sophisticated. The bell could be a bit louder but people seem to hear it just fine when I’m alerting them that I’m on my way. My favorite thing about this bell is that it is different and does not stick out like a sore thumb.

The Luxe is a definite improvement in loudness over the original. It can be heard from about 100ft away. Most people using ear phones can hear it, but sometimes i have to ring it twice within 50ft for them to hear it. Unless you are going over 20mph constantly, this bell is easily heard and provides enough time for people to know when you're coming up behind them. I does not seem to scare people, but it has a pleasant tone and it lingers long enough for it to be heard. My only complaint is the price. However, I would recommend this product if you want a bell that works great and is sleek at the same time.

Very pleased. Louder than others are suggesting. Make sure nothing touches to bell plate (cables etc). It needs to be free to resonate or you get a clunk rather than ring. Large size fitting needed for road bars.

I wanted a bell that would blend into my handlebars without being an obvious dome plonked on the top. This is very subtle, and stylish. Mine is black and it blends with then handle bars. The ring tone is nice, not at all piercing. It is not the loudest sound, but car drivers aren't going to hear you anyway. Pedestrians and other cyclists can hear it well.

Die Knog Oi Luxe Fahrradklingel ist für mich die derzeit beste Fahrradklingel auf dem Markt. Zugegeben sie Sie ist nicht billig, aber jeden Cent wert! Sie wird in einer schönen Box inclusive eines Inbusschlüssel zur Befestigung geliefert. Die Montage ist innerhalb 1 Minute erledigt, da weder Bremsgriffe oder Schaltung demontiert werden muß. Die Montageschelle ist schön massiv und nicht ein billiges Metallband. Die Befestigung erfolgt mit einer Inbusschraube. Sie besitzt ein sauber gefertigtes Veganes Lenkerpolster um Kratzer zu verhindern. Gegenüber dem Vorgängermodell wurde der Klingelgeber wesentlich verbessert, was zum einen das Handling verbessert und zu einer längeren Haltbarkeit führen dürfte. Der Klangfarbe meiner Oi mit Messingkörper ist sehr angenehm. Sie klingt laut, sehr klar und schwingt langanhaltend aus,..kein billiges Alugeschepper. Sie passt mit ihrem dezenten Design zu jeder Art von Bike, und bietet sich auch als wunderbares Geschenk an. Für mich ist die Oi Luxe was Design, Verarbeitung und Klang angeht die Königin der Bikeclock,..dafür gibt es ohne wenn und aber gerne 5 Sterne.
