Art of the Dynamic Handgun: Magpul Dynamics [Blu-ray]

If I could give this instructional DVD series 10 stars I would! Travis Haley and Chris Costa are two of the best instructers I have come across and both of these guys have exceptional skills and are fun to watch. Haley and Costa really cover a lot of stuff in this series from the basics such as grip, sight alignment, trigger control and follow through. As well as the various types of reloads, shooting on the move and shooting from various positions such as supine, urban prone, etc. There is a lot of good info on how to become a more proficient shooter, but also a ton of good information and wisdom regarding real life situations. The key to their teaching method is that all of it is geared towards real life situations. I have watched the DVD's multiple times and learn something new each time I watch them. The production is top notch and this series is very enjoyable to watch. I can honestly say that I have become a much more proficient shooter after watching these DVD's. Haley and Costa have set a good example and I know what I need to do to become even better. The only thing better than watching this DVD series would be trained by Haley and Costa in person.

This 4 DVD set is simply awesome. I would classify myself as a beginner to intermediate level shooter, and I found these DVDs to be very informative and highly entertaining. On top of all the great training content contained in the DVDs I would like to stress that the overall production value is extremely high as well, unlike most instructional DVDs you find. If you own or have watched any of Magpul's other training DVDs, you will not be let down. Personally I think this set is even better than the Tactical Carbine DVD set. The camera work, editing, and sound production is top-notch. The instructors featured in the DVDs, Travis Haley and Chris Costa, present the material in a clear and concise manner, and they break down all the drills, scenarios, and situations in way that is easy for a shooter at any level to digest. I really appreciated their focus on safety, efficiency, and consistency of movement. What I liked most about the DVDs is the diversity in the group of students that Travis and Chris are instructing. The group is comprised of various law enforcement officers, military personnel, firearms industry sales representatives, as well as civilians. The students in each of these categories obviously had differently levels of skill and experience as well as different types of handguns and equipment. It was really interesting to see how the different types of people worked through their specific problems and stumbling points. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and will most likely pickup some of Magpul's other training DVD offerings.

I am really impressed with this video. It is exactly what I was looking for in a training video on handguns. Frankly I do not have time to spend hours at the range learning. My family obligations prohibit spending a week (or even a day) on the range but I feel pretty strongly that being trained and effective is very important. With this video I am able to get an hour here and there. I was able to watch and learn so much and now I can begin implementing what I learned at the range when I get a chance to go. I can also do many of the drills at home or in my backyard without ever firing a shot. In addition, I can also show the video to my wife on her time because she is not likely to ever go to the range without me and taking the family at this point isn't realistic. It's is not super-hardcore commando. It's not all about specific situations although they certainly come up. It is focused on the fundamentals and solid fundamentals can be applied to any situation. I felt it has a pretty balanced attitude whether you are in the marines, a police officer or head of household security. I am learning how to use my gun effectively whether or not I'm in Afghanistan or my bedroom. The fundamentals are the same and that is what they are teaching. I haven't got to the concealed DVD yet but based on the first DVD it will be exactly what I need to know when I get there. I have a long way to go but now I have skills to work on. The bottom line is the instruction is great and learning at my own pace makes this video exactly what I was looking.

While I realize nothing can replace in person, hands on training for safety, efficiency, marksmanship, and adaptability in operating a handgun, for those of us who do not currently have the funds to attend the Magpul Dynamic Handgun course another of similar quality, this DVD is a great alternative. To be honest, many of the exercises are beyond my capability at this point in my operating firearms, but the ability to grow as an operator is there (also, I just don't have the funds to afford the ammunition to complete all the drills) if one wants it! The production is of high quality and the editing is done so the student can easily get the lesson and see the real life corrections of Travis and Chris to the students (of ALL levels of previous experience by the way) in a way that they themselves may be experiencing too! Further, the footage is edited well enough so you do not become bored watching while you are getting the detailed instruction and see the improvements of all the operators!

Since I'm from Canada and civilians can't carry, I found the dvds still very usefully. I bought this to get some tricks and techniques for IPSC and there was plenty. I do get better grouping and now able to double tap.
