Excellent pre-shave - the advantage of this one is that it doesn't leave a greasy or oily film, just rinses off. This becomes important when you pick up that Darwin razor, with absolutely NO purchase on the completely smooth, polished art deco handle, and a Feather blade in it. Trust me when I say you won't want to be twirling this around your face (or legs) with a seal-slick grip - you won't need to use alum on your fingers just to hold your razor. This is your pre-shave of choice. Doesn't sacrifice much in the way of added smoothness to your shave either- a clear gel that applies easily underneath your lather as a lubricating base, and also seems to have a soothing effect on your skin, with a very pleasant, slightly citrusy scent. A great dispenser as well, easy to use between passes without trying to hold on to an oiled up squeeze tube - highly recommended.

I've been shaving with a brush for a while, and pre-shave oils are essential to a smooth shave. I have tried a lot that disappoint- either too thin to really lubricate the blade or so thick that they gum up the razor. This oil is a perfect creation- thick enough to stay put once it is on but doesn't gum up the works or clog up my razor. I don't notice a scent if it has one, either.I have been using it for over 3 months now, plenty left in the bottle but when it is gone, I will buy more.

I started shaving with a safety razor about six months ago. Before that I had gone through various other razors. In all that time, I would try-out and use various pre-shave supplements, probably cycling through at least a dozen in the last 18 years of shaving.Until I found the Crown Shaving Co. Supreme Glide, I had become a big fan of Proaso's pre-shave cream.However, now that I have found this Pre-Shave, I will tell you that the Crown has been passed to a new champion.I love how smooth it goes on, how easily the blade slides over the skin, and especially how smooth my skin is after.

Excellent product. I really like the gel over the oil. The razor glides with no problem and washes off leaving your face smooth and soft. It lasted 3 passes and retained a great base. The pump is also a real plus. You get a lot for your money considering the amount of product you get compared to other pre-shaves. I first tried it using 2 pumps but 1 pump gives you more then enough to coat your face. Is is without question the best pre-shave for straight razors. Doesn't gum up your razors. I used it with Proraso sensitive soap and I couldn't feel the blade. You'll love this product.

It works pretty well, but not the super slick experience I was hoping for. I apply shave cream with a badger brush, which probably moves the pre-shave treatment around too much instead of resting directly on the skin.

I like applying this on before every shave on my face and on my headim not to sure how much of a difference it makes but it seems to cause less irritationwhen I use it, It works much better with a cream or soap that you lather yourself vs something out of acan or tube in my opinion and it last a very long time a little goes a long way

Having tried a variety of pre-shave oils and creams in my wet shaving experience, I have to give this gel top marks. Nothing has provided quite the desired end result the way this concoction has. Light, slick, moist, and easy to dispense, this product gives your razor the path of least resistance as it glides over the coarsest beards and most sensitive skin (like mine, lol).

I use this product alone for trimming around my beard and my neck when the hair is short. When I do a full beard removal, or the hairs are a bit longer, I put the pre-shave down first and then use shaving cream on top. Together they work very well to virtually eliminate razor drag and cuts.

I bought this as a pre shave. I find that if you properly hydrated your face, like if you just start out of the shower, it doesn't make that much of a difference. However, if you haven't had time to properly hydrate your bristles before shaving this really does seem to help. I have tried several times just using it on its own too when I'm in a hurry and don't have time to lather up my usual shave soap. It works surprisingly well just by itself. I like to use it around areas where I keep some facial hair because you can completely see what you're doing. It has a nice scent which doesn't linger but is pleasant while you're using it. It does keep the skin noticeably softer.If you're going to use it as a shave gel not just a shave cream it needs water. Wet your face thoroughly before applying and if it doesn't feel super slick wet your fingers and massage a little more water in. It does get very slick so if it isn't a little more water may be neededI would definitely recommend keeping a bottle handy especially if you have some areas where it's important to she where you are shaving or if you're in a hurry and don't have time for a shower. it really seems to help prepare the hair for shaving as well as the skin and you will get better results in those cases. If all you have is sideburns and you shower before each shave it may not be worth it. I will be buying it again.

I know some people have said they didn't think the price vs. benefit was worth it but I don't entirely agree. Compared to a normal shave (hot water then straight shaving cream) this pre-shave makes things very slick while still allowing a very close shave. Shaving even sensitive areas on my neck and chin is noticeably more comfortable - enough so that I'll be buying this again. And the orange scent is a nice little wake-up in the morning. I do agree that for the amount you get and what's needed for each shave it would be nice to get a little bit more for the money.

Great as a pre-shave but because it's clear you can use it for razor trimming around your beard and still be able to see the hair. Can't do that with regular shaving foam.

Started using a DE razor recently and been getting really bad razor burn and bumps no matter what I would do. This stuff makes your skin extremely slick and reduces razor burn and bumps significantly. Be used with shaving soap or on its own for quick shaves worth little to no prep
