Works, solid.
Solid, works great. I did notice one side got slightly thinner than the other but it was fine. It takes very little effort. I recommend using sheets of wax paper between the press and the dough to help with sticking.

Great tortilla press!
Very nice! Everything aligns properly and functionality is solid. Even though manufacturer says it comes pre-seasoned, I seasoned it anyway for my own peace of mind. Works well and is a time saver.

Fantastic! Great value!
This is a perfect tortilla press. The cast iron is quality and handle is sturdy.Be careful on some of these reviews. They almost “swayed” me in a different direction, but I took a chance. One reviewer gave it 1 star because the “cast iron care sheet” they provided was, “too much work for her!”, lol. ALL cast iron requires care, pre-seasoned or not and this requires no more care than any other piece, maybe even less since depending if you cook on it or just use it as a press. As for the handle, not sure how the others broke theirs, since most of the pressing is done simply closing the top. My handle is solid and requires very little pressure. I can’t help but wonder if maybe someone put it on backwards or their dough was too tough? IDK, can only speak for myself. The parchment paper is “”ok”, it’s NOT wax paper for sure, but most of my tortillas peeled right off, a few stuck, but honestly I think that was my fault due to little dough. The important take away is this is a solid press and the cast iron is even. I still rotate 180° and press again, but that’s just habit. This should last a looong time with proper care. What else can you buy for $20 that will last 20+ yrs? That alone warrants 3 stars minimum. The fact it works warrants the 2 stars!

The lid does not stand open by itself
I just received this press today and of course I immediately had to make a batch of tortillas. It makes round corn tortillas, although not quite as large as I had hoped. I will adjust my recipe next time, maybe add a little more water to get a more pliant dough. That said, the press did a good job, turning out tortillas of a uniform thickness. But it has one annoying problem... the lid does not stay open on its own, you have to hold it open. That would be find if I had three hands, but, alas, I am not so equipped. So that means that after you have flattened a tortilla you have to hold the lid open while you remove the tortilla from the press and either set the lid down or try to set the next ball of dough in place. Just very awkward.I gave this thing a 4 for sturdiness because I am a little suspicious about the strength of the handle. This may turn out to just be nervousness on my part, but the handle seems to bend a little when you're pressing. I'll post an update after I've made a number of batches and let you know what I've discovered.

Good Product, Great Customer Service
UPDATE 8-28-19: I've been using this press for months now. It's wonderful! I'm changing my rating to 5 stars. The press itself has held up to weekly use with no sturdiness issues or rusting. I don't wash it much because I use plastic to protect the press (and btw I still think the parchment sheets are not as great as my homemade solution) but when I have to get it wet it's been no problem. IDK what other reviewers are talking about with significant before and after prep of the surface? I literally do nothing to this press and its great!ORIGINAL REVIEW May 28, 2019 (4 stars): A good tortilla press for a home baker. Feels reasonably sturdy, hopefully it will last. I have used it to make corn tortillas twice and flour tortillas once. The flour came out a little thicker than I'd prefer but the corn tortillas were perfect both times. The press comes with directions on pre-seasoning the surface to prevent rust - I think this is a must. I missed one spot and noticed a rusty deposit there after only one wash. I originally liked that it came with parchment sheets, but it turns out they slide around a lot so I'll probably just go back to cutting the sides off a gallon zip-top bag.My one problem - when it arrived it was missing the bolt to hold the handle on. However, I can't say enough good things about the customer service. When I realized the bolt was missing I contacted the seller and they went above and beyond to fix the problem. They responded immediately and sent the replacement item immediately. Five stars for the company.Giving four stars for the item because I'm not sure how sturdy it will be in the long run. Will update once I've had it longer.

Disappointed and Frustrated
I purchased this tortilla press with high hopes, but it has been nothing short of a disaster. Right out of the box, the build quality felt flimsy and cheap. After just a few uses, the handle became loose and wobbly, making it nearly impossible to press tortillas evenly. The worst part is that the tortillas keep sticking to the surface, no matter how much I try to use flour or parchment paper. I've ruined countless batches trying to get them off without tearing them apart. To top it off, the press is difficult to clean. I dread the mess it creates every time I use it. Overall, I regret this purchase and would not recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, functional tortilla press. Save your money and look for a better option!
