JABRA Cruiser 2 Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone
I bought this product, knowing that it was not the newest or best in-car speakerphone available. This is the first in-car speakerphone I have ever purchased or used. I must say, I should have made this purchase years ago. The biggest reason for this is that I do feel that it is safer for me to talk on my cell phone with this device than it was for me to hold the phone to my ear and use it. Beyond that, the device was easy to set-up and synchronize with my Android phone, it has a built-in rechargeable battery and comes with a micro-USB charging cable. I am able to hear the people who are talking to me on the phone very well, and the people I have asked have said that they can hear me just fine. So the microphone on the device appears to cancel-out road noise and other noises quite well. At the same time, the microphone is very sensitive. The other day I was talking to my dad on the phone, and my children were able to talk to him from the back seat, though this device was clipped to my driver-side sun visor. My dad said he could hear the kids "loud and clear." I give this product five stars, and I highly recommend it for anyone who, like me, finds themselves unable to go without talking on their cellular phone in their car. The only down-side I can see to this device is that it is not ideal when your sun visor is deployed (down. This causes the device to be away from the driver, with the sun visor between the device and the driver. This can be overcome by re-clipping the device to the other side of the sun visor. But that sort of maneuvering is exactly the kind of distraction the device was meant to avoid. Maybe car manufacturers will start making a place to clip these devices, other than the sun visor, which needs to be moved around. At any rate, the device is useful enough, works well enough and is affordable enough that all driving phone-talkers should have one.

Good value for the price
I was tired of going through a bunch uncomfortable Bluetooth ear pieces to use in the car. This unit fit my needs for a hands-free speaker and microphone. This was is easy to pair with my iPhone 4S. You can answer/hang up a call directly from a button on the unit without having to touch your phone and you can also adjust the speaker volume directly on the device. The unit can clip on your visor but it will also function well siting on your console. The bonus with this unit is the ability to play audio through the car's stereo system. This is a feature available on many of the newer cars which is now an affordable add-on for all older vehicles. You can have your phone conversation on the car's speakers for better sound clarity, and on your iPhone (with latest iOS and Bluetooth audio capability) you can run iTunes or any other web based music application through your car stereo. The audio through the car stereo isn't perfect, you will experience some static, however if you are not an audiophile the background static is negligible. Also, the unit can be tuned across the FM station dial so you can adjust to stations that will tune-in with less static. Additional features are the voice prompts "connected" when paired with your phone, "call from [caller name]" with incoming calls and "tuned to [FM station]" when the FM button is touched, and if you are playing audio when a call comes in the audio will pause and then continue when your conversation is over. I have been able to get around 15 hours of use on the rechargeable battery when I have music playing constantly through the FM radio. The car cord charger and lighter adapter come with the unit, and as noted above if you need to charge it while driving the unit will work sitting on your console so you wont have to drape the wire from the visor when charging. The features that do not like about this device are the size and accessibility of the On/Off and FM buttons on the side of the case. The buttons are very small and are not easy to access and activate. However, I have yet to find a Bluetooth device with convenient buttons. The buttons for volume and call pickup are good sized and in an accessible location. Light indicators for Bluetooth connection, FM transmit and battery power are adequate. Overall for $50 this is a quality unit from Jabra. I ended up getting a second one for another car!

Excellent choice for use with iPhone4
I just received the CRUISER2 yesterday and am highly impressed. Once charged all I had to do was turn on Bluetooth on my iPhone4 and the CRUISER2 immediately recognized the phone and started downloading my contacts. I was interested in a powerful speakerphone but one that also allowed me to use A2DP to stream audio. Unlike other reviewers, I found this device really shone using the FM transmitter. All I had to do was push the FM button on the side of the device and it literally called out the radio station to use. As soon as I switched the car radio to the requested station, my BMW328xi actually showed "CRUISER2" on the display. I streamed music and podcasts from the iPhone4 to the FM receiver using the CRUISER2 and the sound was solid with little distortion or background noise. It's not the same quality as a CD but given road noise it was no problem whatsoever and I think it actually sounded better than using the car's AUX input. In the middle of listening to some music a call came in on my phone. The device worked well, with folks on the other side of the call saying they heard me very clearly at all times. I switched between using the CRUISER2 speaker to listen to my call and the car's FM receiver (switching was as simple as pushing a button) and both worked great. At one point I did start to hear some static on the FM receiver and immediately the CRUISER2 called out another station to use. If you've ever tried to use your FM receiver with other technologies like XM radio you'll know how frustrating it is to fish through stations to find a clear signal. The CRUISER2 told me the station, I switched, and a crystal clear signal was restored. Sometimes it's the simple things that make all the difference. I can't recommend this enough. Small, functional, easy to use, and the ability to use the A2DP to stream music was awesome and much cheaper than having BMW charge me $700 to put the Bluetooth capability in the car. The combination of the CRUISER2 and my iPhone4 was great. Add $5 for a vent-mounted iPhone holder and you're all set.

Sound is good, answers calls easily. voice commands not so good.
I was hoping that this would make using my phone in the car completely hands free. It does not. The bluetooth pairing works well, it answers calls just fine, but trying to use voice commands to make calls is just so-so. Seems to work better on iPhones than Android. I now use it just to answer calls, and if I have to make a call, I stop the car and do it directly on the phone. The FM broadcast works fine in my car, but in my sister's car it depends on how you have the visor that it is clipped onto positioned. Also, I thought this was supposed to have a motion sensor that would turn it off when the car isn't in motion, but after a few days the battery went dead. So I'm not sure if that feature is working properly. It does a good job of playing music and you can hear the GPS on your phone giving turn commands, so that part does just fine. The three speakers do put out pretty good sound, even without playing through your FM radio. Whether or not it reads incoming text messages seems to be either phone specific, or depends on how the phone is configured as this feature is also hit and miss.

2 years on this item is still awesome, good quality, easy to use
Very pleased with this item, I did a lot of research before I chose the Jabra and am thoroughly pleased with it's performance. The sound quality is above average, people say I sound clear and not like I'm using Bluetooth. It connects to my phone with one click of a button when not used for a day, it automatically switches off if you are away from the vehicle for an extended period. If you are away for short periods, for instance, running errands, it automatically disconnects and reconnects when you get close to the car. It has a good range, though, so sometimes it will stay connected, for instance with the car parked outside the office, I have to remember to disconnect before I leave the vehicle or turn off Bluetooth on my phone. I live in an almost permanently hot country and I leave it on the sun visor almost all the time and it still works perfectly and has no signs or heat damage or melting. I am not on the phone constantly so the battery life has been very good, I can go almost a month sometimes without recharging it, it has the same socket as a Samsung phone so I can use the phone charger at home or in the car. I bought this more than 2 years ago and it still looks and functions like brand new.

Awesome is I have to say!
This an awesome bluetooth system..I did careful research before buying and it paid off. Couple of things you need to know up front, it doesn't auto sync, so when entering your car/truck/tank, you'll need to enable it, yourself. another thing, I saw some reports of the FM transmitter not working correctly or you have to "hunt" for reception. The Jabra Cruiser tells you what radio station to use..I used the recommended station per Jabra, and had no issues with listening to my songs,GPS clearly. What i like about Jabra: *very very easy to setup *nice and loud speaker, so conversation is easy *using the FM transmitter saves me a lot of money because i can simply stream music from my phone, and it is clear..I don't have to convert my factory radio just yet(400 bucks!!) *Very clean, and simple design What could be better: Auto-sync is always a nice thing the reception at times is snowy, but then again, i did found this station on my own and didn't follow the recommended Jabra station..Those who have this device, know what i am talking about, lol For the money, you can't go wrong!!

Horrible Product and company
I have used Jabra products before and could say, I am not dissatisfied with their products. They are VFM and work as intended, no bells and whistles and no WOW. But this particular product and the company's customer service was an altogether different experience (worse) The product - JABRA CRUISER2 1. Downloads the entire phone book, had ~700 contacts, took around 5 mins. But the problem starts here, I am fine with it having an accent (US) and pronouncing names in a particular way, but do not understand why it does not recognize at-least 50% of the contact names and just reads out the numbers (even a John was not read out!) - sync with BB Bold 9780 2. The most irritating feature: The read aloud continues to read out the name or number (all 12 digits) even after you have received the call, and the person at the other end (and yourself) has to wait until the annoying voice takes another 4-5 seconds to finish. 3. To add to it, there is no way you can disable the voice over (phone book or rather number read aloud). To overcome I have to pick a call before (which makes my customers feel I am all eager for business - which I am, but do not want to show that! :-))) or after it is done with the read aloud and before it starts off again!!!!) 4. I was still OK managing, but just after 3 days of use the plastic cover over the speaker (the one with Mute written on it) started to vibrate badly. Now every-time I have to use the product, I need to place my hand on the plastic to stop it from vibrating else I can hardly make out what the other person is saying. Customer Service: 1. With the vibrating feature now enabled! I called up customer service in India (moved to India, and carried the product with me after purchasing in US) - One, if they can replace since it is under warranty or Two, repair (which I am ready to pay) - they just hung up, saying US bought you deal with them. 2. Mailed the US service center, though my fist mail to them was amply clear why I am writing to them, I had to follow-up with them and write 4 more mails to help them understand. Anyways long story short, they tell me if you come to US we will replace! Else good luck! This is my last JABRA Product for sure, VFM or otherwise. I am off next week to buy a Nokia for almost half the price and which can be serviced locally.

Great Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone with 2 HUGE Design Flaws
I have used the Jabra Cruiser2 Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone for 1 month. I thought the easiest way to review this would be to confirm or deny Jabra's advertised features first and then talk abut what is missing. So here goes. Jabra's Advertised Features: Acoustically optimized design with Noise Blackout dual microphones and a powerful speaker - CHECK Easy to install. Pair to your phone and place on your sun visor. Then you are ready to drive responsibly - CHECK (except for visors that flip up and not down) Connect it to your car radio with the FM transmitter and transmit your music and calls to your car speakers - CHECK Play music from your Bluetooth device using A2DP - NOT TESTED Advanced MultiUse allows you to have two active connections at the same time and switch between them whenever you please. - NOT TESTED Downloads your phonebook and tells you who is calling - CHECK Dedicated mute button and large easy to access volume controls - CHECK Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR technology - NOT SURE Auto-pairing accompanied by audible pairing instructions for no-nonsense set-up - CHECK Jabra Discreet Light feature--the light indicator (LED) does not continually flash and you can turn it completely off in night drive mode - NOT TESTED Features answer/end, redial and voice dial (phone dependent) - DUH! CHECK In-car cigarette lighter adapter charger with disconnectable USB cable so you can also charge it from your PC - CHECK Up to 14 hours talk time and up to 20 days of standby time - CHECK (Have not charged it in over a month of usage) CONS: . Power and FM transmitter buttons are on the side and SO HARD TO GET TO AND USE. I am not sure what exactly the designers at Jabra were worried about when they made the power button for this gadget so hard to get to and so hard to use while it is clipped to your visor. First of all, why make a sliding power on and off button? Why not just a press on and press off? Second, did any designer ever feel truly satisfied with the position of the button in relation to the position of the driver's hand as it tries to turn on the power? I almost have to hold the unit with one hand so it doesn't slide off the visor as I tug at the power button to turn it on (in the same direction as I would have to pull to slide the unit off of the visor! Go figure.) I wondered whether the designers were afraid of the unit being accidentally switched off by an inadvertent bump from the drivers head or some other move. Seriously, this unit is tucked as far away from a drivers hands as can be and there is nothing near the unit that might touch it and cause it to accidentally turn off had the power button been more accessible and easier to use. I am not a usability expert, but I am a customer who has frowned every single time I had to power this thing on and off. I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because of this HUGE (imho) DESIGN FLAW.

Excellent Speaker-phone
I researched hands free car kits for ages. Definitely made a great choice! Very easy to set up, just followed the instructions. Just charged the Jabra Speaker-phone (you can use any USB plug - iPhone or Kindle charger rather than charging it in the car) for about 2 hours. Turned the Bluetooth on, on my iPhone and turned on the speaker phone. It actually talks you through what to do. It then pairs your phone and copies your phone book, so when you get a call it reads out the name of the person that's calling you. Fits nicely on your car visor. The speaker-phone is clear and the microphone picks up your voice very clearly. People that call don't know your in the car!! They don't hear any road noise or interference. They all say it sounds incredibly clear. If you're thinking of buying a hands free kit, this is a great product. Highly recommended!

Love it, great product, good buy.
A recent step up in enforcement of no handhelds for drivers prompted me to try this hands free device. I've tried several blue tooth ear-piece devices and have not been happy... bad reception, bad fit in my ear, ear discomfort, geeky appearance. I also tried an earlier version of a visor mounted hands free with similar dissatisfaction. It distorted the sound of my voice to the other party and poor reception. On to the positive side: this is an excellent product. Sound quality is good for both parties, automatic features work well, like auto shut off when not in use so the battery life is great. You may have gathered that I'm not a techno geek so I haven't delved too much into the more advanced applications of the device. I tried the voiced email routine and that got stale in a hurry and I found that routeing the music from my phone to the car stereo was a problem when I had an incoming call. For me the simple fact that I can field calls efficiently while driving is sufficient to my needs. I recommend this item as a good buy.

Great value in a hands free
This device is a breeze to use. Pairs quickly and the dual microphone setup ensures a crisp, clear connection. Fast easy BT connection to my Iphone every time. Only concern is upon startup it grabs the first 1000 names in your phonebook. I have over 2000 contacts in my book, many whom I won't likely call and as a result have no way to edit and select who I get to include in my download. Small price to pay for an exceptional bluetooth device. If this one got lost, stolen or died, I would buy this one again.

Almost 7 Year Battery Life 100% Happy
I use this on a daily basis. I can't say enough about getting hands-free. Yes many vehicles now are equipped with hands-free and this would serve as a good back if your existing built in system died. As for the battery life. I bought 2 of these in the last 7 years. My 7 year old unit is now having issues to charge; but I got this one in the last while and use it as a back-up now. Sound? Depends on your road environment and vehicle. It works for me as I'm on the road 50% of the day and the unit provides amazing sound, no complaints from me or people I talk with. I use it for board meetings and people hear me like I'm talking on a phone. Easy to connect to phone or mobile device and seller shipped FAST.
