The Little Book of Woodland Bird Songs

Excellent book. All birds are native to U.S./ NAmeria. Each of the 12 species has a page (actually 2) w/picture, good info & good recordings. Bought May 2026 for a 2.5 y.o. interested in birds. 2 months later the child IDs each bird song when randomly played by adults. Highly recommended.

Smaller than I anticipated, but excellent quality. It is a BOARD BOOK (may be obvious to someone else but I didn’t realize it). Very sturdy as we take it outside to watch and listen to the birds. The recorded bird sounds are very clear and great quality. Pictures are real photos, which is great!! There is a little information on each bird, perfect for ages 4-7, and even older if someone is just a beginner bird watcher. I love this book (and the other one, about backyard birds). Great purchase!!

Our 5 year old grandson and I love this book. He loves reading about each type of bird and learning the sounds it makes. It makes a great gift for a kid who has everything!

I love this book, The Little Book of Woodland Bird Songs. It features 12 birds and has 22 thick glossy pages with beautiful color illustrations of each bird. Name of the bird and information. Along with 12 bird calls when you press the corresponding buttons. The bird calls repeat twice and the sound is very clear and authentic. I bought this as well as the other one called The little Book of Backyard Bird Songs. They're going to WA surprise for my grandsons when and school is out for the summer. I know they're going to love them.

Our toddler loves this book series. The sounds are all natural and true to the bird species. The pictures are great, and the facts are fun. This is absolutely a book our son will be able to grow into and learn from as he gets older.

Twice in the past week, my children have been in the yard with their Dad, who has heard a bird call and said "Hmmm, I wonder what that bird is?" in authentic inquiry...and then been answered, correctly, by our children. It is because of this series of books. We often look at and listen to birds on hikes and in our yards, but the ability to look closely at the portraits and hear the calls has made this book a great opportunity for further independent investigation for them. The calls are authentic, the illustrations lovely. It's great for toddlers and has text helpful for basic research for early elementary kids, too.

I purchased this bird book for my one-year-old son. He loves birds and books he can interact with, so this was the perfect book for him. The information and reading in the book is definitely for adults, but he doesn't care. He loves getting to push the buttons and will sit through and listen to his father and read him the entire book. Great find and will surely be purchasing more from this author. Looking forwards to giving him "The Little Book of Backyard Bird Songs" next!

This, along with the Little Book of Backyard Bird Songs, are wonderful books. The bird songs are clear and long enough to truly listen and learn, and the written descriptions add so much to learning about our bird friends. I gave the Backyard Bird Song book to my 2-year old granddaughter and when we were in her backyard, she heard a bird and correctly said, "morning dove"! Because I liked that book so well, I got the Woodland Bird Songs for my daughter who lives in the Adirondacks. She loves nature and hiking the neighboring small mountain, and I know she will enjoy identifying the birds she hears along the way. My only reason for giving it 4 starts instead of 5 is that it would be beneficial to have an "on-off" switch on the book so that the battery lasts longer. All is all - an excellent book with the best bird songs ever!

What a lovely book that transports you right into the surroundings described in its pages. Birdsong recordings are quite lovely indeed. And, buttons and speaker assembly look sturdy enough for repeat pushes from the grimiest of little fingers.

My 4 year old grandson absolutely loves these bird and animal books. He knows which birds are in which book. He loves using the books to have conversations with the same birds in the garden and he knows the difference between different types of owl and that they have different calls. Just great at helping learn about birds and animals.

There are many books with animal sounds, but not many that capture the subtle, clear sounds of nature and birds like this one. After purchasing a few animal sound books, I decided to get this birdsong book, and it has been a wonderful addition. Every time the birds’ calls play alongside the crisp natural background sounds, my 18-month-old daughter joyfully listens and even tries to mimic the bird calls. However, since this book isn't designed for babies and has sharp corners, parental supervision is needed. 💡 Pros: ✔ Beautiful, clear bird sounds – Authentic and enjoyable to listen to. ✔ Good audio quality – Unlike some sound books that fade over time, this one continues to play clearly. ⚠ Cons: ✖ None so far! It’s a rare and delightful book that brings the beauty of bird songs into our home. Highly recommended for nature and bird lovers!

So important that little ones get to know birds. I bought my grandson Backyard Birds for Christmas. ( He was 18 months) and he learned to identify all those birds by sight and song. The request came for this book for his upcoming 2nd birthday! I am going to give it to him before June so he can know these birds when he turns two. He loves it, so does I. Lovely illustrations. quality sound and sturdy construction. Swell worth it!
