I bought this as a gift to my partner, who is a private chef. She told me she has used it with thick boiled potato and veg mix mash, and it stirred them no problem. I did some research before I bought this, and found the method of clipping a rotator on top of the pot/pan (which is used in this product) to be much more effective than other similar products' methods of stirring, which don't handle thicker sauces or chunky works. Got this for mom since she had been asking for something to help her rest while cooking a few dishes. The product itself is sturdy and not flimsy like some other stirrers we have seen on the market. We used it on our large pot and it perfectly fit the pot, however we noticed if you have a pot that is even slightly curved at the bottom which most pots are, it prevents the blades from completely scraping the bottom of the pot and hence we had to remove the whole thing once in a while and scrape the bottom to avoid scorching. It does stir the food well even a thick soup but you need to keep an eye on it once in a while. The set up and clean up is a breeze though. It does come with 2 speed options which you manage by clicking the button on top (next to the power button) without removing the whole thing. It makes a little noise while on but not too loud like some other reviewers mentioned. The height of the blade adjusts automatically as you place it on the pot and secure the side clamps. Wish the stirring blades were at least adjustable so we could use it on smaller pots. Overall slightly disappointed about the above mentioned problem but not too much to return it.

I was very excited when I purchased this item but when it arrives I charged it for 24 hours then I try to use it the product never turned on. I was very disappointed then I tried to charge it again hoping that the problem is that but never worked out, more disappointed. The idea of this product is awesome, specially for a person like me who cook every day I would really appreciate to have to have it so it can help me. I returned the product hoping I will find something similar but it works.

Worked alright for a a few weeks, now the unit won't hold a charge for some reason. I would rather it plugged in. Also the unit is loud but I do love the concept.

My grands always ask for "mac and cheese" and this device is perfect for keeping the pasta from sticking to the pan (and burning) and the automated stirring makes every piece consistent. It is an answer to a prayer, because I don't have the time or the patience to stand at the stove for ten - eleven minutes stirring M&C. This is one of the handiest things I have in my kitchen. If it ever fails, for any reason, I will definitely buy another of the same model and brand. It has held up extremely well. Strongly recommend this item for your kitchen. It fits almost any saucepan or fry pan.

Worked well for a while. But I've had it less than 6 months and the battery doesn't hold a charge anymore. Additionally I heard a lot about how quiet this is supposed to be, but that was a lie. I couldn't carry on a conversation in the kitchen when turned on. Also, some goop gets trapped in the mixing attachment, which leaks out after being cleaned and stored, leaving you to find a sticky mess the next time you need to use it.

I used this to make ketchup from our prolific tomato patch this year --- and ketchup takes hours to boil down. The battery life is about 2½ hours for a 16-hour charge on low speed in thin ketchup (that is, I had to finish the batch myself). That's the drawback of internal rechargeable batteries; you can't plug the thing in while cooking. I'm sure that's a safety feature, but it would be nice if Gourmia included a) a second battery or b) an option to buy just the motor-battery assembly (to swap it out) or c) a non-rechargeable version so I could just swap out the batteries. Also, the pot dimensions are hard to find. This won't work in a large (16-quart) stock pot, but will in an 8-qt one. The manual says the attachment reaches a diameter or 6¼ to 10¼" and a height of 3¼" to 6¾". You can fudge the height a bit if you don't need to scrape the bottom --- my pot was about 7¼" deep. Another 1½" on the stem would be nice. It isn't the quietest thing in the world, but you're cooking, not sleeping, right? No melting problems, and the spring loaded stem works well. Despite the insufficient battery life, this purchase was well worth it.

I have used this for stirring soups, cheese sauces, and risottos! All I can say is WOW! Where was this at 20 years ago?!!?! It works great, I just wish they had one for bigger pots.

I prepared Sahlab which a desert based on rice starch and milk. This particular mixture is very prone to burning the bottom of sauce pans when reducing it due to its low heat conductivity, so it has to be stirred constantly and never left still during reduction. The gourmia did a fantastic job stirring This for 30 minutes allowing me to focus on the rest of the preparation. No burns noticed on the suauce pan!

Love this item. I hate stirring, this is great for stirring soup and chili.

It was certainly helpful. Let's hope it lasts for at least 2 or 3 years.
