PU Round Belt Welding Iron
Great Kit!!! It works great and has everything you need at a great cost. I met with some overseas co-workers that brought their own all-in-oone unit. There was a convenience factor to the all-in-one, however they are more expensive and require a power supply to drag around. This product is like a big soldering iron with variable control. I recommend for anyone needed this type of device. I wish there was a case or padded pouch to keep it protected in my toolbox.

Gets the job done
I got this kit to make 5mm belts for vintage sewing machines. I agree that the video tutorial was bare bones. The individual components are not the highest quality but they get the job done. The cutting tool is not super sharp; I found it best to cut against the level to ensure it is in a straight line (if you use the tip of the blade as in the tutorial, you can easily cut at an angle). My blade would not cut all the way through, but if I pulled one side away from the blade, I got a clean cut. (Maybe my blade was a dud, but I didn't want to send the whole kit back because of that.) I am using 5mm polyurethane black belt material so I used the frontmost channel. The material had been curled on a roll for a long time - next time I will take it off the roll when I first buy it and see if that helps. For my 13" belt, it worked best to place the belt in a circle in the upright position (there is a pic in one of their ads that has it oriented like that). After you lock down the two sides, give it a good squeeze before you insert the iron to make sure the material is secure on both sides; more often than not I had to tighten the screws even more. I only let a little bit of belt peek out inside, otherwise the curly belt made it really hard to line up both sides well if there was more than 1/8". I just melted about 1mm or so, then quickly removed the hot iron and squeezed tight; lock down the lower screw and let it sit for a while. Cut excess with small clippers with one flat side so you can get close.

Quick and Easy
Had about 15 or so belts to make. That amount justified this jig. It makes it quick and easy. Would definitely recommend if you more than a few of those welds to make.

All necessary tool in one package
Welding round belt was a breeze with the included tools. Everything needed to evenly cut, hold in place, and heat/weld is here. Decent quality on each item. The clam is great and has multiple points to adjust to get a secure hold. Good product overall!

It did the job (so far, so good)
This definately worked. Not the best instructions on setting up the clamping pliers. No specifics on how far out to have the belt material or what gap to have for the heater element. I needed to make some 3mm diameter o-ring belts. I used uxcell Polyurthane (3mm) belt. ASIN BOD5RGRXGM. This tool nor the belt gave any info on what temperature to use or how long to contact the belt with the heater. [ FYI: full temp (400 degrees) 15 to 20 seconds was my reciepe. ] This tool did the job. Better instructions and I would have given it a 5 star. Undrerstanding the pliers and cutters are not the best quality but they got the job done and that what counts. I had to use the smallest V to hold the 3mm material. I reversed the top plates on the pliers. Drove the middle belt locking screws all the up. This allows me to loosen the top plate and slide it out of the way. No need to have to remove each plate to remove the newly formed o-ring belt. The weld point I had to use a razor blade to cut it down. Scissors is not the tool for this job. Maybe toenail clippers but I don't have them in my toolbox.... LOL The weld joint is not pretty but so far the shaker that these belts were made for has not failed. I have had it on high speed for about an hour. Oh yeah. I left the iron in the stand and put the clamping pliers up the heater as it sat in the stand. Much easier and faster. If I have belt failures in the field, I will update this. Hope this helps......
