Gates 38001 DriveAlign Belt Drive Idler/Tensioner Pulley

Worked great and very easy to install. The oem bolt from my vehicle fit in the attachment space and didn’t require me attempting to purchase a different size. No problems with it on the vehicle for the last few months.

Works flawlessly

Great pulley. took about 20 mins to install. Need a belt tensioner removal tool. I own one. Remove the belt and unscrew the pulley. Reinstall new pulley and Wahla, No more screeching sound from the bad pulley. Highly recommend this pulley.

Replaced all my idlers, Belt Tensioner Assembly and the belt. Used all Gates products. All fit perfect and performed flawlessly! Simple to install. I heard a squeak coming out of the idler area and put a couple of shots of PB Blaster to shut it up temporarily and told my repair shop to check out all the idlers cause I figure there is a bearing going. They said all is good! Well let my son use my truck for work one day and got that phone call All lights are on in the dash (not charging, engine etc) and it started to overheat. Well, I am glad my son listens to me and learned the minute you start to overheat shut the engine off so not to damage it. Sure enough the idler seized, flew off the inner race and the belt shredded. Luckily the idler didn't fly threw the radiator. That is when I decided change them all cause they have never been replaced (over 140K) and haven't looked back!

Perfect fit on 95 Chevy pickup. Would also fit 02 Buick Century. Amazon states it would not fit either one. It is the proper pulley listed on other sites and matches the original I replaced. This was a Amazon Warehouse " used-as new item" at less than half price. It is new unused condition. I've purchased many Amazon Warehouse "used- new condition" items and ALL have been as described. The only negative on this pulley is that it has a China bearing, (That's why I only gave it 4 stars)-(pulley assembled in Canada) but then I think all brands use China bearings. Pulley turns smooth and runs quiet. Only time will tell how long the bearing will last.

Gates is my go to second choice for parts when i cannot get my hands on OEM ACDelco. years of learning from my mistakes, the knock off brands from autoparts stores and even here on amazon and ebay, you'll run into alot of re-man sold as new pulleys with a cheap bearing pressed in, sometimes not even flush, i own 4 Vortec 5.7L GMT400 trucks and this have lasted over 50,000+ miles. just bought my 5th GMT400 and replacing the pulleys while i have the motor out. anytime you hear scraping, chirping, or screeching, always check your Tensioner and Idler pulleys, if one of these are starting to go, they can take out the rest of your bearings on your accessories. personally go OEM, but if you need to save money without sacrificing or risking quality, go gates.

Installed on my 1994 Mazda B4000 (a rebranded Ford Ranger). The old idler was making a squealing/grinding noise. The old pulley had a raised flange on either side of the where the belt rides, but this one is flat on the outside diameter as shown in the picture. It makes the new pulley easier to install than the old one, and I doubt it matters as the water pump has the same shaped pulley. The part was stamped Made in Canada, and the box indicated that the new pulley might not need the large shielding washer used on the bolt for the old pulley. Put the washer on before reading that, but pulley spun freely so I am leaving it. Amazon was cheaper than the local parts store by a factor of more than two.

So far so good. Its Been on the vehicle for 6 months and hasn't shown any signs of problems yet. Keeping my fingers crossed. It's a crap shoot these days with the market being flooded with cheap Chinese parts, just don't know what your going to be dealt......

Excellent replacement for OEM. Quieted an annoying squeal in my 2001 ford ranger, so far so good 8 months on.

This was exactly what I needed to replace an OEM/stock pulley for a 4.8 / 5.3 liter chevy/GM. Note that I kept the dust cover even though the instructions indicated that it wasn't required. I'd buy it again.
