This was a great help! The ideas on face painting (creating shadows, etc) was fantastic. Also, the use of other heads and hands was good information to give your models a more realistic look. The details on prepping your models for painting was also helpful in building more accurate, realistic models. I think this book is good for the new modeler as well as the experienced one. The book gave lots of good techniques that obviously Joaquin has spent years perfecting! I thought this book was a good investment.

Well worth the purchase.
Fantastic book, with great pictures throughout.Really looking forward to following the tutorials as I have been painting fantasy figures for years, so something that has to be accurate and doesn't have green skin is a new challenge for me!The only downside is the translation, which sometimes doesn't seem to gel with the pictures, but isn't hard to work out.If you are looking to paint WW2 figures and don't know where to start, then this book is a must.

Excellent book. This is one of the few books ...
Excellent book. This is one of the few books available today that talks in detail about painting minature WWII figures. I've looked and looked and there is not another book on the market that goes into such detail. One learns about painting the face with shadow and highlights, painting uniforms, making paint look like leather. This is a must have book if you are interested in painting minatures.

What language is this??
Like other reviewers have said, the english translation is horrible. There are typos and wrong info all over. For example, German Extra Dark Green is mentioned throughout the book as a base color for winter camo. They got the Vallejo paint number right and it's supposed to say Deck Tan. Simple error but is labeled that way all over the book. Odd that no one caught that typo. I really don't think this is a good book for absolute beginners. The how-to's are brief, the pictures are good quality but aren't able to educate enough on their own and because of the broken english translation, it's really hard to be clear on the SBS that he's trying to explain. If you are at a point however where you sorta already know the steps of painting a figure with acrylics, this book could be helpful. The reason being is that the author uses Vallejo paints and gives the color combos for painting base, shadows and highlights. I use Vallejo and I find this book of value for that reason. I can reference this when I want to know a good mix for most military uniforms in WW2. The book is really thorough in this regard as all major armies of WW2 are given examples. It doesn't give you an exact ratio but again, if you have a little experience, you can figure it out with a bit of experimentation. I'm happy I bought it but I wouldn't recommend if you are just starting out in painting figs with acrylics. For a beginner, I would highly recommend the MXpression DVD by Olivér Kovács 'Painting a 1/35 Scale Figures with Acrylic Colours'.

Pour amateurs avertis
Ce livre vous guide pour la peinture de figurines. Toutefois, il ne s'agit pas d'un guide de premier pas dans la peinture acrylique sur modèles miniatures.

Buon libro.
Interessantissimo libro sulla pittura di figurini.Illustrazioni step by step per incarnati, divise ed accessori.Ottime foto, un po' meno l' inglese che, in alcuni punti, risulta poco chiaro.Comunque consigliato!

A great figure reference book
If your model figures look like goggle-eyed dolls, when you have tried to paint "realistic" people, then this is the book you need to help you achieve your goal. Many clear, detailed photographs of figures undergoing the painting process, coupled with, easy to understand, written instructions on a "step by step" basis, plus references regarding skin tones, fabric depictions and light and shadow considerations, make this book one that I would recommend to any serious, would-be, people painter. Even having read the book, and used it`s help, many times now, I am still amazed how much detail and realism can be applied, with a paint-brush onto a 1/35th figure.

Goodbook with some reserves.
Good book for those who want to use acrylics on their figures. Also useful to understand how to modify a figure, or combine parts of various kits to build a character from your imagination. But the close up is sometimes detrimental: the research on the accuracy of the uniforms decribed in these pages shows some mistakes. It is obious when you look at the panzer crew in black uniform, supposedly from the "Leibstandarte A. Hitler in villers Bocage". The figure wears in fact the black uniform from the regular army, not from the Waffen SS. Minor detail? Yes, but too often, I noticed this kind of error when looking at models in exhibitions...Still, this is a book which can help though.

Ottimi contenuti, pessimo inglese
