A truly magnificent book
I bought this book by chance, it has been sitting on my wish list for a long time until I recently decided to spend the £60ish sum. Almost nervous as I did not know what to expect for that kind of money. On arrival I was most surprised as this is some 3-4kg book and a hefty 1135 pages.I have started to go through the book and I am so impressed. The initial sections are detailed history of the art and it's background. The next stages are human anatomy which is very detailed. Anatomical targets, skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, circular system, meridians, acupoints. This leads nicely onto pressure point fighting. The book then goes into the Hapkido system, including the stances, ground movement, strikes, blocks, combinations, kicks, holds, various locks of different parts, throws, defence techniques, attacks and weapons. There are over 9000 photographs with over 2000 techniques. Never have I ever seen such a collection of techniques and references in a book.Just to note, the techniques are not greatly detailed in step-by-step images. There are some techniques which are broken down into few steps, but generally it's a single image showing for example a wrist lock. Not how to perform that particular wrist lock, therefore this is for the advanced martial artist who has a good grasp of the techniques or concepts which are outlined in this book. What this is a great resource and research material.I would love to detail everything in this book, but I could end up writing another book rather than a review. If you are an advanced practitioner in martial arts or an instructor this book is ideal for your library. I am sure you will find something in this book which you did not know or how to execute. What this book does is help you gain more depth in your martial arts knowledge. It also compliments traditional martial artists. I am a Tang Soo Do practitioner and this certainly compliments my existing knowledge and adds more depth especially in the self defence, holds and locks area.A truly magnificent accomplishment. This is a brilliant investment for those open minded martial artists.

This is a very comprehensive technical book on a super martial art
This is a very comprehensive technical book on a super martial art. Everyone knows that a martial art cannot be learned from a book alone, but for anyone already studying a martial art, whether student or instructor, this book is a great aid to learning. I bought my first copy some years ago. I bought this second copy as a gift for a martial arts colleague of mine for a significant birthday. I hope he enjoys it as much as I do.

Great book
I've been doing Taekwondo for now more than 22 years and I bought several books. Years ago I did some Hapkido and some years ago I started to practise Hapkimudo which is a system base on Hapkido but with a fusion of Kickboxing elements. I found this book to be extremely interesting as it comprises a lot of useful information. The book is massive and very well made. Photos are very clear. A must have book!

Every Martial Artist needs to buy this book
The best 'text book' on the subject. A book you will return to time and time again. Suggest splitting it into two volumes and adding in the grading requirements of the art.

HAPKIDO FOUNDATION
hello to all,Last week I got a copy of HAPKIDO book by M. TEDESCHI. (1138p) (hardcover).I have to admit that the book is very well done with well explained theories and how to apply the techniques. I consider this book as good reference as BASIC HAPKIDO and not ADVANCED HAPKIDO.The section in Protecting Others is a bit disappointing although it shows 7 techniques and explains the principles behind them it is a bit poor. Being HAPKIDO used by many bodyguards in the Blue House and other Law and Military enforcement I was expecting a more extended chapter on this.Use of baton was missed as well as knife throwing and Fan Techniques. However as a HAPKIDO book I give a 9 out 10.Saludos
