I've wanted one of these for 20 years
This is exactly the sort of chess set that you will find most professional players using. This is just a good, sturdy, high quality chess set. It comes with a standard roll up board with ranks and files marked for helping you keep track of moves. The pieces are a nice weight and regulation size. If you are serious about tournament play or just want something that doesn't come in a cardboard box this is a great set. It comes with extra queens and a carrying case which is nice but not as sturdy as I remember. The material just seems to be thinner. It also seems like they could have used a little higher quality zipper for a few cents more. I haven't had any malfunctions or anything but with items like this some people care about quality. I'm kind of picky. I guess. Oh, and for anybody that is griping about the board not lying flat I have a solution for you. Roll it up with the bottom facing in next time and then when you unroll it the crown of the material will be up. Gravity will take care of the rest. If it remains a problem try lying it in the sun for half an hour. It will smooth out. THEN roll it up with the bottom to the inside. If you still can't figure it out buy a football.

Non tipping chessmen
These pieces are amazing in the hands. Nice and heavy bottoms, so they don’t tip over while playing them. The vinyl board itself. It doesn’t curl when layed out. It doesn’t indent from the pieces. I was shocked from the price.

Great Set—Minor Fix Makes It Perfect
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Great chess set. Just as advertised; the pieces have a nice weight, and the vinyl chess board is durable and well crafted. ❌ PROBLEMS: • It does not come with storage bags for the chess pieces. • The quiver is not sturdy so the mat can easily bend making it look "limp." ✅ SOLUTION • I inserted a 3" diameter PVC pipe in the quiver. 👉 The PVC pipe should right below the seam of the top zipper flap of the quiver. Now this chess set is a perfect 5 stars.

Better than the older USCF pieces
House of Staunton always delivers the best. The triple weighted pieces are quite stable. I prefer to use them on either a 1.75" or 1.875" chess board given the King's base is 1.5" wide. Most likely 2.25" squares.

Very functional for the price.
Overall, I'd say you get your moneys worth, especially if you treat the mat with tender care, so it doesn't get nasty creases in it. There is plenty of coordinates on the sides to help you quickly figure out the name of the square a piece is going on. The pieces feel great, but its a very tight fit if you want to cram them back into the same bag as the mat. Pros: - The pieces feel very nice. - The mat is full size, and has a nice grip. - The mat fits nicely into the carrying bag. Cons: - The bag is not very sturdy, so the mat can easily bend in undesired ways, that can make pieces be a bit lopsided when you're playing, if you don't wait long enough for gravity or a weighted-surface to flatten it out. Thus what I learned is its important not to put much weight on the bag when the mat is inside. - The pieces may fit in with the mat, but it's a rather tight squeeze, so I recommend keeping the pieces in a separate regular bag. I keep mine in a zip lock bag (labeled and separated for each color), and then put that zip lock bag in my backpack. Then I buckle the provided bag onto the outside of my backpack. - The mat is not the most flattest right away, so perhaps not the most ideal for travel. But it's inexpensive, so it should do the job if for instance you want to play on a picnic table. - the d-file and e-file markers are missing on one side, with the logo taking their place. It's not hard to tell what they are based on the others, but I think it was a poor design choice.

Great board and pieces. Cute pouch. Snug fit.
It was exactly what I was looking for. Standard sizes (board and pieces) and weight. The pieces snuggly fit within the large bag (would have been better to include two exterior pouches or side compartments for black nd white pieces respectively), but it worked well. Very cute and compact carrier size. Still don't know if jamming the pieces in there will super wrinkle the board too much--we shall see.

Best set you can buy at this price point
Fantastic set. Full tournament size plastic pieces. Triple weighted, so they have some real meat to them for a plastic set. There is also a single-weighted set listed elsewhere if you don't care about the added weight. The vinyl rollup board is passable. A bit lumpy and chemical smelling, but the size is big, and the portability is excellent. The grid markings are a nice touch and perfect for a beginner. At such a low price point, this is an unbeatable budget starter board for anyone new to chess. If you're used to $200 wooden sets, this obviously is cheap, but if you've never played on a real set and are used to the kind you'll find in very old, small wooden sets, or plastic toy sets from Target, this is a huge step up.

Great set!

Basic set, and NOT as advertised. Certainly NOT triple-weighted. Very cheap production. Plasticky-feel overall. But great for beginners, and fair price. Just tone down the hyped description to better reflect the actual product, and lower your expectations.
