I bought this to do 'on my back' physical therapy exercises. My mattress had too much give and the floor/rug was too hard. This provides the right amount of cushioning without being too hard or soft. It is easy to fold, light weight, has convenient dual carry handles, and the covering seems durable with normal use. Edit: I originally used to use this mat on the floor and it worked well for me. I'm currently recovering from a broken wrist and can't get on/off the floor. I can use this mat for SOME exercises on top of my bed. (when I'm on my back.) When I try sitting, my mattress still wobbles too much so it's less effective. Just FYI.

I appreciate the rigidity of this mat but would have liked it to be a little more pliable for my taste.

As a workout mat, it works well. It's very mobile and easy to store. You don't slide around a lot, provides enough cushion to be comfortable while firm enough to not sink into it. I can place a 35.3 lbs (16kg) kettlebell on it with little give. As a thin crash mat, it's mobility is nice, but you need to pay A LOT of attention to placement as it is not very wide. That being said, I have used it for practicing standing back and side falls which it works well for. Anything higher than 6-12 inches, invest in a thicker mat because folded does not give you a lot of room for error. Yes, I recommend this product
