How does it work? Are there any parts inside of it, or is it just a piece of shaped plastic?

Hello there, It is a shaped plastic shell that can be held like a cell phone while singing or attached to a microphone to automatically couple along your jawline to your ear providing accurate pitch and un-powered monitoring of your voice. You "could" cup your ear in such a way to create the effect however, its not as effective as this unit also, it looks goofy when performing life with your hand cupping your ear. I have performed live with these and they work flawlessly.in my opinion its a must have for any singer....especially if you sing in noisy environments where hearing yourself can be an issue.
