Why is there alcohol in this body butter?

Why do some of your skin care products contain alcohol? Weleda uses a “raw grain alcohol,” a naturally-fermented plant-based sugar that helps preserve our ingredients and helps our products stay gluten-free. This alcohol is not drying, in fact, it is used to hold and stabilize our botanical tinctures and extracts.

The description says it has synthetic fragrance and then says it doesn't have synthetic fragrance. Which is true?

Weleda products are proudly certified natural according to the NATRUE standard and are carefully crafted without synthetic fragrances and dyes, preservatives, silicones, ingredients of mineral origin, GMOs, phthalates and SLS-(sodium-laurel-sulfate).

Nothing on the jar mentions if it is EWG verified. Weleda products made in Germany. From the label I see no additives. All ingredients from natural oils like lavender, rosemary, chamomile, etc. The normal "natural additives" are all what one would expect to find in a skin product. I love how soothing the Body Butter is to massage into the areas most troublesome on my legs. I use all their products. The "Skin Food" is extremely viscus but does wonders for extra dry areas. I'm 78 and need a lot of moistureizer. Good luck!
