Does the front tag get itchy after wearing a few hours for people with sensitive skin?

No I have three different colors of this hat and I have never had an issue with the tag rubbing on my skin or being itchy.

Can you wash it in the machine?

We don't recommend machine washing for this Pom Pom beanie because machine washing will damage the Pom Pom material. Strongly Recommend hand washing for this hat and hanging to dry.

can the furball be removed?

unfortunately no. But it is a nice warm hat. i have not washed it yet so I do not know how well the pom on the top will hold up.
