It itself is a good product and a very good quality book. However, i did not check the translator for this edition, and so was very unpleasantly surprised to find all Roman names rather than the Greek ones, very disappointing as this is the most famous GREEK epic.

The book looks absolutely prettiest of the lot. But that isn't it's major pros. Homer was the first western author, this Epic was originally written in Greek around 700BC (maybe older). The book may seem daunting at first but it's been translated very well, it tries to keep the poetic flow and yet keeps it simple to read. This is a good translation to begin with. I've had no problems in understanding the premise behind the two books as I've read about the Greeks and Romans extensivelty. Before picking this up, try to atleast read something about the Greeks and their culture. Will make it easier for you to understand the Gods, Kings , people and the culture that binds them all. Apart from this, you get two books in one, pristine condition, a hardcover and for a very reasonable price. The book is an absolute masterpiece, it opens a gateway to Greek culture. Homer's epics have a huge influence in western culture and that is what makes it a must read!

It was as an fabulous book,which mention about the troy and the adventure of Odyssey with myths. They used roman names for God instead of Greek like Jove instead of Zeus.Other than that all are good..

It’s a beautifully bound edition of the Iliad and the Odyssey. A book of two classic tales of Ancient Greece. I love it.

Have only read the iliad so far and I love it. I love the cover and design of the book. Could not recommend it more.

O livro, anunciado como uma edição de luxo, nao é mais do que uma edição em capa dura bastante simples. Nao se deram ao trabalho de plastificar ou envernizar a capa do livro. O livro chegou com uma batida na lombada (na quina) que descascou o papel da capa! Compro muitos livros na Amazon, que reputo como uma empresa seria, mas dizer que isto é uma" edição de luxo ", é uma inverdade. Ediçoes como os livros da Martin Claret, Antophagica, Companhia das Letras e outras, sao mesmo, algumas delas, ediçoes de luxo, livros para ler, guardar, colecionar,mas nao este que comprei agora. Como ainda não li esta edição, espero mesmo que a tradução seja tao esmerada como diz a Amazon. De ultimas, dou valor a uma edição caprichada porque considero que os livros fazem parte das nossas historias de vida, então o CONTEUDO e a apresentação dever ser os melhores!

The gold coating on the page edges makes the pages stick together. Every time you turn a page, you have to fiddle around to separate them. You might as well throw it straight in the trash.
