Good book, disliked the translation
It itself is a good product and a very good quality book. However, i did not check the translator for this edition, and so was very unpleasantly surprised to find all Roman names rather than the Greek ones, very disappointing as this is the most famous GREEK epic.

Homer's Epic : In the easiest and truest form
The book looks absolutely prettiest of the lot. But that isn't it's major pros. Homer was the first western author, this Epic was originally written in Greek around 700BC (maybe older). The book may seem daunting at first but it's been translated very well, it tries to keep the poetic flow and yet keeps it simple to read. This is a good translation to begin with. I've had no problems in understanding the premise behind the two books as I've read about the Greeks and Romans extensivelty. Before picking this up, try to atleast read something about the Greeks and their culture. Will make it easier for you to understand the Gods, Kings , people and the culture that binds them all.Apart from this, you get two books in one, pristine condition, a hardcover and for a very reasonable price. The book is an absolute masterpiece, it opens a gateway to Greek culture. Homer's epics have a huge influence in western culture and that is what makes it a must read!
