Awesome rear surround speakers for a limited space!!
Hello shoppers, if you’re reading this, then — like me — you probably care about how your movies, music and media sounds! I’ve taken a great deal of care with my home “theater” audio setup but I am not a millionaire who can simply throw money around and buy the most expensive things. For reference I’m running a 5.1 surround system with an aging, but Japanese-built Onkyo high current receiver rated at 75 watts per channel and my front and center speakers are all Polk audio. So; on to the product review. The way my living room is set up puts my couch right up against a wall so I have absolutely no space behind my main seating area for rear surround speakers and when I saw these, I was intrigued. I mounted them at ear-level, so just slightly higher than the back of the couch, and — holy moly — they are amazing rear surround speakers!! Clear highs and great midrange adds that whole experience of true Dolby 5.1 or DTS. The first thing I watched was a few episodes of Game of Thrones and from the ambient sounds “behind” (dogs barking, wind, people chatting) to a dragon flying overhead, to swords clanging and waves breaking on shore, these little guys just immerse you into whatever you’re watching! I also had some good EDM on to see how they did with music and I was very impressed! Ben Böhmer never sounded so good at home! So if you’re still reading this, and you need a good wall-mounted rear speaker option for a really great price, these might be your best option! Especially if you have limited space or, like me, NO space behind your seating area. They look really good too! I got the black ones :) Cheers!

Nice Surrounds/Back Surrounds For The $$$
Just received mine yesterday (I ordered mine from Amazon.com) I immediately hooked them up to My Yamaha RX-V473 5.1ch AVR and put in Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls Blu-Ray Disc. Definitely worth their asking price for the level of sound reproduction these things put out!!! My Poor-Man's Home Theatre setup consists of the following - POLK AUDIO 75T (Front Speakers), POLK AUDIO CSX250c (Center Channel Speaker), KLIPSCH R-12SW (Powered Subwoofer) and now the FLUANCES for the Surround Speakers. I'll be playing music from my NEXUS 6P and watching more Blu-Rays anytime/everytime I get a chance to so that these speakers can start to "open" up. After 3+years for my other speakers they sound alot better than when they did when they were brand new. So far though I'm pleased with these Fluances, they look good and have good weight to them for there size. UPDATE: 5/29/2018 I've Had These Surrounds For Close To a Year Now, And They Are Fantastic!!! They Sound Better Today Than When I Bought Them (Most New Speakers Do). Watched Black Panther on Blu-Ray Disc via Yamaha AVR and Dolby Digital Plus, They Sound Marvelous Along With My POLK AUDIO Center Channel and Floorstanding Front Speakers. These Are No Doubt Probably The Best Speakers per $$$ Spent Anyone Could Buy, Period!!! UPDATE: 2/5/2019 These speakers continue to perform and impress. I've listened to My playlist from Google Play Music on My Huawei Honor 6X via Aux cord to My Yamaha AVR and watched PENNY DREADFUL Seasons 1&2 on Blu-Ray and the sound effects really shine on these Fluances.

Great rear surround speakers
I bought a pair of these speakers in 2020 for my rear surround sound and I’m still using them. They create a great rear surround sound stage. Look great and sound great.

Loud little speakers but don't expect full range sound.
To start Fluance the Canadian-based company makes excellent products for unheard of prices. with that said these little things here, the AVBP2'S are a great bargain especially if your just getting into HT. For the record I'm not an audio guru nor pretend to be but for what they do- you won't find anything at this price (quality-wise) for such a good deal. at first they sounded a little bit "tinny" not much oomph stage-presence, you can tell they are there but not in the same way you could notice a book-shellf set up I would recommended going up a bit more in the price range and possibly try to pick up the HTD website systems, there stuff usually gets high praise among certain AV forums. Def-Tech and Mirage are also good in this area for bi-pole/di-pole speakers, These are a good deal but it's mostly all treble- in some case you want it to be like that but it depends in which type of format/setting/genre of media you plan to be using them for. For video games these truly are awesome you can just about set them anywhere in the room explosions, voice's, and clarity really comes to life. Movies? hit and miss, here's why: when watching a movie (blu ray/dvd whatever) you notice that your mains (front towers) may in fact be eating up too much power and not allowing these little guys to work to there advantage it can also go the other way to depending on the type of receiver you have. However, this is only my experience and i could very well have the amp or wiring placed incorrectly if i do find something else i will write an update, until then i will just fiddle with it until i perhaps get better response. Like i said up above i am not an audio guru but do know enough about stereo and ht hook-ups have used many brands throughout the years, now if you are considering getting this one, it would do you well to consider the one above this it cost's just a little more but is highly worth it. Between the two there is no contest, not taking anything away from these they are good for what they do but sometime you want something with a little more dynamic range a "fuller stronger sound" are these worth it for the price? sure. but will they deliver full range "small bass response"? No. If you have the doe and you cannot wait buy em,however if you have a little extra to spend i would go with it's bigger brother. Lastly i would add Premiere Acoustics also have very good speakers for a bargain price. Just check out their site they have di-pole surround in 5' 6' and 8'from what i have read and heard from the manufacturer the 8'versions blow the competition (higher end makes/models)Away. must buy. they destroy the competition at a low price. So in closing it is suggested to shop around first many good deals out there usually it's the one's you never here about that have the most "bang for your buck" factor. All in all the avbp2's are excellent quality made surrounds the down side is the size of the woofer you are going to need at lest a 5 inch or 6'size just to get the full range experience when hooking up to a HT.

I Really Love The Bright Sound Coming From These Speakers
I had originally bought these speakers for my rear-channel speakers, to complete a 7.1 surround sound set-up. After a great deal of testing, I realized the rear-channel speakers aren't that significant, so I am just using a cheap pair of Dual indoor/outdoor speakers to cover the rear. Before these speakers arrived, I was using a pair of Sony SS-B1000 bookshelfs for my surround sound speakers. They did an OK job because they are decent and powerful speakers. Still, the sound was loud and harsh and subtle surround sound details were often lost in translation, against the backdrop of my subwoofer and main speakers. After reading all the rave reviews on Amazon, I decided to use my Fluance AVBP2s for my surround speakers in the home theater I have set up in my family room. I have just purchased a brand new and more powerful receiver, a set of new main speakers, a new center channel speaker, and a new subwoofer. I have since moved the Sony SS-B1000 bookshelf speakers, my old Pioneer receiver, and my old Sony subwoofer into my garage, where I have recently set up a sound system. I instantly noticed a huge difference in sound engagement. For example, when I turned my system up at full blast during a movie, the sound delivery was suddenly much cleaner and the surround effects were significantly brighter and clearer, like they were intended to be. Instead of sounding like a stereo system trying to play movies like it had before, now my system sounds like a THX setup in a movie theater. These speakers not only have great range, but also surprisingly, subtle timbre. The tonal quality is both unexpected and superb... at least in my opinion anyway. The most outstanding feature is that they play so well with my new main speakers (Sony SSF-5000s), my new center-channel speaker (Cerwin Vegas XLS-6C), and my powerful new subwoofer (Klipsch Sub 12HG). They tend to move out of the way and let my main speakers and sub drive the deep and pounding base, but still manage to play in complete harmony with my center channel speaker, in order to deliver crisp dialogue and finely detailed sound effects. In conclusion, I highly recommend these speakers. Note: I would also recommend that you specifically use them as surround speakers, as these Fluance speakers are well made, they sound great, and the bi-directional capabilities could not be a better way to derive great sound from your 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound setup.

in any power struggle you have to find the rigth system
when i ordered the fluance surround speakers i didnt know how they would match up with my system which is all def tech but based on the reviews i read and the really good discount price i took the chance .the speakers arrived prompltly and where double boxed which was a nice surprise the speakers were packaged securely and i was really surprised at the build quality of the surrounds they or nice and tight and had a nice heft to them that usually is a sign of quality speakers and they look great along with the def techs as back surround speakers after plugging them into my system running the yamaha set up routine it was crunch time i let them coast along for a day or two to give the cones a chance to loosen up so far so good nice sounding surround that added a little more openness along with the front presence speakers but now it was time to rock so i put on hendrix live in the west and cranked her up man the fluance avbp2 speakers sound great the sound field on the yamaha made these guys disappear and all that was left was the sound on movies when godzilla roared the sound was crystal clear along with my three velodyne cht-12 subs i can now rule my universe that is until the wife cant take anymore her frist question was why do you need more speakers so i gave her the obvious answer.so i can outjam the neighbors of course duh these speakers are a nice upgrade to a surround system that needs that little some thing to up the ante on keeping the balance of power swung in my favor against the evil empire next door now i need to sneak another sub into the house without the wife knowing to insure the M.A.D guide lines or upheld by all parties

Great sound, well built, rear bracket sucks
Got these as replacements for rear and surrounds in a 7.1 setup with a Sony digital receiver. These were packaged really well and were bigger than expected. The Fluance site states each is just under 7 pounds. So, relying on that, I went ahead and used 9 pound ceiling mounts, but with two 50 pound wood screws in each mount, into wood ceiling beams. I also had to create my own unique L-bracket attachment to join the existing mount to the narrow metal holes on the back of the speakers. I even bought clear Gorilla tape to go over the connection joints of the mounts as an extra precaution. I did not mess around with the rear wall mounts and instead secured them directly to the wall: a 50 pound wood screw into the wall stud, and a 75 pound wallboard anchor for the other screw. I also love that you can unscrew the wire plugs and just insert the wire through a hole, and screw down. Clever. Read other reviews for sound analysis. As a layperson, these sound incredible. I tested them out by playing Star Wars episode 3, Revenge of the Sith, that scene as Anakin and Obi-Wan drop their fighters into the middle of the space battle. No one was home except me, and it is still cold outside so no neighbors with open windows. OMG. O-M-G for emphasis. Superb sound. Now I am looking for old classics to let the sound rip - and I am still in the “training” phase as the speaker innards loosen up. They also sound great with regular stereo music. I never thought of a home theater as a great sound system, but now I have a new use for the attached game room as well. Highly recommend as long as you have an easy way to mount them on walls and ceiling, or can craft something like I did.

Great value, great sound!
These speakers are phenomenal for their price. The PERFECT surround speakers for a 5.1 system, especially if you have a wide room, or L or U shaped seats in your media room (which for many will double as their living room). The sound stage is very wide, and the fact that they are designed for wall mounting means that they can be discreet. The size is much larger than I expected in a great way. I started out budget with used Monitor Audio S6 floor standers & matching center, Denon AVR (S760H), and these for surrounds. Sounds incredible after tuning

I Was Not Expecting This ... Great Surround Sound Speaker for Tight Budgets
I had a tight budget for a home theatre installation and thought I'd give these speakers a try and was glad I did. For under $200 I didn't have high expectations going in but I must say these speakers exceeded my expectations considering their price and did a great sound for surround sound on a 5.1 theatre setup. First off surround sound speakers are used infrequently and therefore are not as important as the Center Channel Speaker or Left and Right front speaker. A good quality subwoofer is also much more important than surround sound speakers. If you have a tight budget like I did, put 75-90% of your speaker budget into the front speakers and sub and only 10-20% of the budget into the surround sound speakers. My surround sound system consists of some Monitor Audio Speakers for the LCR, an NHT Subwoofer and yes the two Fluance SXBP2 speakers for surround. My Receiver is a Marantz AVR with Audyssey Speaker Equalization and that my friends is one of the secrets to getting good sound from your theatre system. Proper speaker calibration will equalize the speakers in the room and often compensate for various acoustical differences. Speaker calibration can sometimes make average or mediocre speakers sound great, especially when used in non-critical applications like surround sound. Fluance Speakers are Made in Canada .. I was surprised to learn this and didn't know prior to purchasing. Build quality is good considering the price. The speaker cabinets are built out of particle board and covered in a black, wood grain semi flat vinyl laminate. Each speaker has a two screw hanging bracket on the back and the speakers have binding post connectors. I did find the speakers to be rather frustrating to mount. First off there is no template in the box so I had to make one up. Seconding the mounting bracket requires two screws and is wider than a single stud so you will need at least one drywall anchor to mount the speaker. Next you have to be very careful to get your mounting screws level otherwise your speaker will look crooked on the wall. Lastly the binding posts are not recessed enough to allow for the use of banana plugs when wall mounting. SOUND: The first word I would use to describe the sound of these speakers is Bright. There is not much base from the 4" woofers but that's ok since most surround sound is effects and not full range. The bipolar driver arrangement provides a wide sound field and good dispersion making them excellent speakers for surround sound. Overall I'm highly impressed with these Fluance Surround Sound Speakers for the price. If you are on a tight budget have an AVR receiver with a good speaker calibration program these Flunance speakers will sound great and definitely do the job. I would recommend these speakers for home theatre surround sound on a budget and would use them again.
