Came out black but I love it!

Nice shine & good price (I paid $8). I use this to touch up my roots only, as the rest of my hair is lighter brown. Very nice rich dark brown, I'd suggest 2 shades lighter if you don't want your hair to look too dark. I like that it comes with a after care shampoo & a large tube of conditioner, not a little one use packet like most box dye. Smell is also really good, like green apple.

My eternal search for the perfect hair color has ended! I have used a many different products over the years (Garnier, Clairol, Wella, Feria...) and this is by far the best one. I get 99% gray coverage and the color won't rub off on my sheets or towels. Almost no fading (I do use sulfate-free shampoo), pleasant smell, easy to use, leaves hair healthy and shiny. My hair texture is coarse/wavy and I notice it is smoother and straighter after coloring. Must be due to the keratine. It's like a light version of a Brazilian blowout. The color is indeed very dark, more of a brownish black than dark brown. I do like that Loreal offers a cool/ash tone of my shade as opposed to the usual neutral or warm shades everyone else offers. Amazon subscribe and save is an extra plus to make sure I never run out.

I bought the shade "Dark ash brown" to try and get as close to my natural color as possible, I just wanted gray coverage, and while I do like the color and I'd say it's pretty close to my natural shade, Its definitely *not* cool toned. As far as the formula/application I have no complaints, it does have a strong smell, but not so bad I couldnt use it, consistency and application were fine, I even had lefover dye after full saturation, my hair is about shoulder length but I dont have much density thanks to postpartum hair loss, so it was more than enough to cover that. In certain lighting my roots/crown appear to have a more reddish tint, which may be due to the strength of the developer they include, im not sure, but on virgin dark brown hair it definitely came out looking warmer. After the first post-dye wash, I did notice some gray was visible where it wasnt immediately after coloring, if i notice progressively more gray after washes I'll update my review. I used the included shampoo/conditioner, haven't used any heat tools, and washed in lukewarm water so theres no other reason for the color loss. TLDR: shade is nice, but not cool toned. Unsure about gray coverage.

L'Oreal Paris Excellence Creme 4A Dark Ash Brown is a great choice for those looking for a cool dark brown shade with excellent gray coverage. Hair looks well-groomed and shiny after coloring. I've been using this dye for 3 years. Highly recommend!

I have brown hair with gray is coming through. After I hit 40 I was seeing gray hair more and more. it was costing me a fortune to go to the salon, and I wasn’t even loving the results. I didn’t think it was worth that you continue paying an expensive salon when I wasn’t even like in the way my hair locked. My hair tends to get a red tint after a week of so of it being colored. I went with this shade to make sure my hair wouldn’t look red. It’s the perfect color, and my hair looks great! I am very happy and will continue using this shade/brand for years to come!

It didn’t burn or itch, the smell wasn’t bad, the applicator was amazing, the coverage was good, and the after shampoo and conditioner was nice. I liked everything about this except for the color. It came out BLACK.

It didn't seem to damage my hair but I was not expecting this hair color to be almost black. I will wait a while and get my hair bleached because this is definitely way too dark. It has faded but not much.

I don't like it as it doesn't retain the clr for next wash itself
