SKETCHING AND DRAWING PENCILS

I love this sketch set. The assortment is nicely varied, with graphite, black charcoal, colored charcoal, and carbonne pencils. I especially like the colors: the blacks of the carbonne, pierre noire, and charcoal are super dark and the sepia and sanguine lay on thick. The white is a little disappointing, however.They sharpen pretty well, but they don't get to a tiny point other than the graphite pencils, which is good for shading. The set generally smudges nicely with tortillions for shading purposes. I would recommend this set for sketching, especially on toned paper.

I love this set. I've purchased this, because I wanted some new products to add to my art supplies. It's a wonderful value for money. They blend well, and have a soft touch to them on paper. I haven't drawn in over 2 years, so I used these to see if I've gotten worse at my talent. I still got it.

I'll begin by saying that this set contains pencils which draw well but there were some problems. I'd say this is more of a 3.5 rating but I decided rounding up was appropriate.Physically the box is nice and the pencils look good. The problem I found was two fold. First of all the two softest pencils were broken when they arrived. When I sharpened them (with a sharpener or a knife) they kept breaking as though the lead in the barrel was damaged. I don't know if this is shipping damage or general quality but it wasn't the best experience. Additionally in sharpening, several pencils had knots and splits in the wood making sharpening difficult.In use, the pencils leave pleasant marks and behave as I was told to expect. The Pierre noire are very dark without being too dusty. The carbon pencils also apply comparably to other carbon pencils I've used. The charcoal pencils also lay down nice dark lines. The sepia and sanguine pencils have a very pleasing tone and apply comparably to the rest. Overall, between then they are a complete monochrome set spanning dark blacks through earth tones to white.Overall the set is nice enough but the quality of the wood and cores (be it in transit or due to quality) hold it back. I think that between them you get a decent monochrome sketching set but I'm, unfortunately, doubtful about the quality.

Great pencils I love them

Though most of us use sanguine and sepia crayons for dramatic effect, the range of graphite, charcoal, carbone and pierre noire densities or tones allow getting at textures and nuances within the black and white world, giving us shades of grey to work with. In a metal container, evenI can figure out what works in what ways when I need the right sensibility.

Best variation of sketch pencils in a tin! Love this kit and will probably be buying more of this item! Great quality, pencils are slightly fatter than normal which is good for people who's hands cramp after a while.

Horrible. I've heard very good things about the conte pencils, but the whole lead was broken and every time I sharpened the lead would come down to a new broken section and simply fall out. A whole pencil was wasted. I tried sharpening with an electric sharpener that has never had issues with any pencils of any type (general's charcoal included) and I tried using a razor to sharpen as taught in different ateliers. Nothing worked and the whole soft 3b perle noir was useless and wasted. The harder H lead didn't break as often, but was still not good. Very bad value.

Un bell'assortimento di matite con gradazioni diverse: due in grafite di eccellente qualità, due in fusaggine, due in carboncino, tre pierre noir che non so bene come definire ma che sono molto scure e morbide. Poi le classiche sanguigna, seppia e bianco. Ottima qualità, certo occorre una carta che le sappia valorizzare. Forse leggermente migliore dell'analogo kit Faber Castell (che già possiedo).
