Do you reckon this could be used for blacksmithing?

Nah not really im not a blacksmith im a fabricator and i would say this is not heavy enough if they did a 1kg hammer that would be better tbh i used it for dot punching and its not really heavy enough for even that

It’s not a replacement for normal hammers. Compared to a normal hammer, this is good for precision hammering of anything and it’s really comfortable for long use. The wedged side can be used for breaking up stones etc in a shape of your desire unlike the normal hammer.

How big is the square ended section please?

From memory I recollect it’s approximately 20mm square with quite a large chamfer round the edge. I say from memory because I returned the hammer because the head wasn’t fitted perpendicular to the shaft, which, by the way is plastic not rubber.
