Love that they come with Id tag that's metal! You need to go to the website to register them. There was no directions on how to do that is my only complaint! Most likely to the person who's chips won't scan.. If your vet has an old scanner they wont read the iso chips. But most places have universal scanners! Great price and no registration fee!

I purchased this to microchip my litter of puppies and have been notified that they are not scanning at the vet's office. I am waiting to see if this is all puppies and I have a defective batch or just a few. I was very excited about this product because it offers lifetime subscriptions but if the chip doesn't work, it is worthless.

My rescue, DO-GOOD Dog Rescue, has been using these chips for almost 2 years. They are the best value both for us and for the adopters. Customer service is very good and we have never had an issue with the company. The chips have scanned consistently and we have had no reports otherwise from any of our adopters. Highly recommend these chips!

They increased the price by double at the time of purchase. Other than that it's a decent quality product.

Indeed, they are prepaid with no yearly update fee. What you pay, about $8/chip, is the total cost for registration for life.

Do not waste your time or money on this company!!! Let me start off by saying I am all for helpful reviews so, while I have had an AWFUL experience with their website and staff, they do offer great coverage and the chips themselves are nice. However, if it was possible to give them no stars, I would in a heartbeat. I volunteer for a dog rescue, who used to order from SmartTag 25-50 microchips at LEAST once a month, if not more. This has been an ongoing headache and a half for the past two years! While working in the rescue, we sometimes get dogs returned to us, which is not an issue. When they are adopted out again, we have to fill out a separate form, which is scanned and emailed to SmartTag, they are then responsible for re-registering the chips. We initially dealt with "Mike" (who I later found out was the lead of the department). It took him FIVE months to re-register a single microchip, furthermore he wasn't even the one to take care of it! Someone else named Andrew took over for him because Mike was not only NOT re-registering the chips, but he also just decided to stop responding as well. Andrew updated the chips we needed done at the time, but then after a few weeks guess what, he stopped responding as well! The whole point of a microchip is to return the animal to the owner, how can that be done if the chips aren't registered to the correct owner?!?!?! On top of them not responding, their website began to malfunction as well. We were constantly getting locked out of our account and constantly having to reset the password. After a while, this becoming annoying as all get out. Finally, I had enough and sent an email telling them if they did not get their act together, we were going to go elsewhere with our business. I immediately received a call from someone in the customer service department. He was very nice and was stressing that this is not how they operate and he would get someone to fix the issue right away. Well, a month later and we went right back to not getting responses. This is the most infuriating thing in the world! For the amount of money we spent with them you think they would care more. To anyone thinking about purchasing through this company, I strongly suggest against it. We have now switched microchip companies, and we have nothing but nice things to say about the new company. GOOD RIDDANCE!

Does the job, pre-registered which is really a nice feature. Easy to implant. Will buy again.
