Typical Samsung Quality
My first Samsung product was my first VCR I bought over 30 years ago. This TV was an upgrade for my 42 inch Samsung plasma I purchased about 8 years ago. There isn't a thing wrong with it, I just wanted newer technology. This Samsung UN55H6400 is amazing, from the ease of set up to the quality quad processor picture. I am in my 60's and was able to setup the TV, including connecting to the internet without assistance. I assembled the stand, set it upright, plugged in 4 cables: power, 2 HDMI and digital audio, and turned it on. Seven quick on-screen steps to set up and you are ready to go. The picture is just gorgeous after I did my usual adjustments; turned the backlight, contrast and brightness down, set the picture mode to natural. It was gorgeous before I played with it but I prefer a not quite so bright picture. One thing I will say for those switching from a plasma picture to an LED/LCD picture...you will notice a huge difference in picture quality. To me, the plasma picture is much more vibrant, more intense. That being said, with the new quad processor, the LED picture quality is starting to equal that of the plasma. Just remember one thing: picture quality depends on the type of connector you are using! Use the best: HDMI! HDMI cables can decipher all 3 screen resolutions: 480, 720 and 1080 and are the easiest to connect. The active 3D is pretty cool. I don't have a 3D bluray player yet but "explored" the 3D through the Explore 3D app on the TV. Pretty impressive! I will say the 3D glasses appear to be battery hogs! It appears as though it will require 1 CR1620 battery per pair of glasses per movie. It might be cheaper to invest in the rechargeable version. I have Amazon Prime, Amazon delivered the TV to my house 5 days after purchase, in one piece and well within the scheduled time frame. The delivery boys were super helpful and would have hauled off the box and packing materials had I let them. I have noticed that LCD/LED TV's seem to be short lived, at least in other brands, lots of backlight and power issues. I hope Samsung proves that to be wrong. Nice, nice TV!

Functionality!
Samsung continues to advance their technologies in all their products and this TV does not disappoint one bit. The first of the two of these delivered to my house was damaged, the screen was cracked which obviously allowed zero functionality in the unit. What a bummer, but not one I would typically blame on the company. Customer service was quick to have this unit picked up the next day and already began shipping out a replacement unit which I received in 5 business days. Kudos to them on making this right. The TV has so many smart features to list. The picture looks crisp and clear, plenty of brightness and is easy to view at all angles. Sound quality is about a 7 out of 10 and probably my only gripe about this TV, deep bass in movies can sometimes rattle the speakers into a tinny sound that is unpleasant forcing me to lower the volume to a level that doesn't boom the sound you'd like in an action film. Nevertheless I don't typically listen to the sound through the TV, I use a home theatre system which is proper to do when pairing with such a nice TV. The TV comes with 2 remotes, your standard everything-included remote and the most awesome smaller remote that has Bluetooth connectivity allowing you to place your thumb on the trackpad and move your hand or arm to gesture where the "mouse-pointer" that appears on screen should go. This makes a lot of the web-enabled features packed into this TV a breeze to use! Just think of all those annoying setup screens that we're used to entering ALL our signup information being completed in a much quicker, less annoying process that has been simplified down to pointing and clicking. 3D is awesome, works like a champ though it's not something I use too often. Pandora, Netflix, Hulu and everything else that comes along with your typical smart-enabled television all are consistently updated and work very well. Lastly, having other devices like your laptop, Samsung smart phone or tablets around connected on the same Wi-Fi network allows you to seamlessly stream content to the television. All in all I love this TV.

Phenomenal picture quality, great Smart menu
Reviewing the UN60H6400. Shipped on time, perfect condition, undamaged shipping box. This is always a concern, but thankfully it went well. And very few stores stock this so local wasn't an option. Unpacked, assembled, hooked up some stuff, turned on. It walks you through a very intuitive setup. I wanted a Smart TV that included Instant Prime, HuluPlus, and Netflix. This has all. I logged into all without incident and the Smart options rock. Very fast, nicely laid out, including DLNA which instantly picked up the TV Mobili on my IMac. The picture quality is stunning. I have this in a bright room, three big windows. This looks gorgeous, both the quality of whites, blacks, but also the TV itself. I liked the new Sharp TV, similar price point, nice aluminum bezel, plays 4k content. But they don't have Instant Prime. Had they, I may have tried them out. New remote is cool, easy to use. I have yet to check out a fraction of what this thing does. But my core concern was picture quality and I am blown away. This replaced a Sony DLP HiDef TV bought when Prince performed at the Super Bowl. That was a great TV. I am amazed at how far TV picture quality has improved in that time. I have zero concerns or cons with this purchase. If I do, I will update. For now, I'm just going to enjoy.

Excellent support from Samsung!
Normally, I would give this TV a 5-star review - the picture is absolutely fantastic and Samsung service (more on that, in a moment) was terrific. The only reason I did not give the 5-stars, is because I have some concerns about the future reliability - but rather than wait 5yrs to be satisfied that I've gotten my money's worth, I feel I need to leave a review regarding my experience to date. I have had this TV for just over 3 months, and already I've had to have the panel replaced - this does not bode well for the future, but I am hopeful that things may work out (**read on**). I am known for spending COUNTLESS hours doing research on any electronic purchase - especially when it comes to televisions. I don't mind spending a few extra bucks, as long as I know I'm getting a 'top quality' product - so I always spend weeks reading reviews and investigating a product, before committing. So, imagine my surprise (read: dismay) when, after already having completed my research, settled on and ordered this TV, I happen to come across a review here on Amazon that mentioned certain sized panels for this particular model having been 'outsourced'. That startled me and had me very worried!! A few weeks after setting the TV up, I noticed what looked like a small 'shadow' on the upper-left side of the screen. It was barely noticeable (you only saw it on very dark scenes - there would be an area about the same diameter of a soda can, where it wasn't quite as 'black' as the rest of the screen). I tried not to let it bother me, but after I saw it the first time my eyes were continuously drawn to that spot every time we watched tv - couple that with the burning knowledge that this particular screen size was one of the ones that likely contained an outsourced panel, and I could not seem to shake that uneasy feeling... ...sure enough, 3.5 months later the video went out. The panel would 'light up' but there was absolutely no video (not even the menu options, would come up). I called SquareTrade (thankfully, I was smart enough to get the extended warranty) and they told me it was still under the original Samsung warranty - they were kind enough to call them and transfer me to them, once a live representative was available (kudos to SquareTrade for their part in this issue, by the way - I highly recommend the extra $40-$50 for the extended warranty!!!). The Samsung rep was extremely helpful, didn't waste a great deal of my time having me 'try this/try that' - just listened to my description of the problem and said they'd send a technician out, period. They had my appointment scheduled within less than a week (I believe it was a Thursday that I called them, and they had the technician scheduled to come out the Tuesday after). The tech came out (as promised and within the 2hr window, they had scheduled), looked at the TV and immediately set about replacing the panel. After installing the new panel, wouldn't you know it, the new panel was broken too!!! So, he had to come back the following day (today) with another panel (which he just installed and left about 5 minutes ago). I'll be honest, I was not very confident any of this was going to work out - I was positive that I had gotten a lemon and was going to wind up eating the $1k I spent on this television. But the Samsung support was fantastic, there was NO HASSLE at all with the fix, and more importantly I noticed that this new panel they were installing had a Samsung sticker on it that the other one did NOT have - which leads me to believe I now have an actual Samsung panel as opposed to one of the outsourced ones!! WOOHOO!!! I have three other Samsung LCD televisions in my house aging in range from 8yrs old to 2yrs old and these TV have never (**knock on wood**) given me an ounce of trouble - my hope is that now, with an actual Samsung panel in this TV, that string of good fortune will continue! Putting aside the issue I had and getting back to the television itself, the picture is remarkably crisp - the video is absolutely fantastic and I love this TV. It should be noted that the audio isn't particularly great though (the speakers sound very tinny), but since I have always used a Bose sound system with my TV it's not a problem for me. That said, if you were not planning to use a sound system and you have high expectations for quality sound with your new TV, this is definitely NOT the TV for you. If, on the other hand, you are just looking for great picture at a reasonable price, then you will not do any better than this TV. Dollar for dollar, it is an outstanding value with a quality manufacturer behind it. Just be wary of those sizes (I think it's just the 50 & 55 inch TVs that are affected) that may have an outsourced panel...

Great TV
I really like this TV. Purchased it after an exhausting week browsing various reviews on Amazon (and considering things like price vs features, etc). At first I purchased a 32-inch Samsung (because that was the size that would fit inside my existing TV cabinet), but the next day I realized that I probably wouldn't be buying another new TV for at least a decade or so. So I decided to cancel that order and instead, get the larger 48" model with the extra features. This meant getting rid of my TV cabinet, but I'm so happy with the bigger screen. The only issue was that the colors seemed weird right out of the box. Bought Disney's "Wow" disc and was able to calibrate the colors and hues and contrast, etc, and that was a huge difference. Now everything looks wonderful. Not a huge 3D fan, but since it was available, I tested out a few 3D movies, and was impressed with the results. I like the remote's ability to speak commands -- makes it easy to check facebook on the TV during a commercial break by just grabbing the remote, hitting the "talk" button and saying "facebook dot com." I also like the simpler things, like being able to watch mlb tv directly through the TV set. I like having the 3 usb inputs, though I haven't tried those out yet. Honestly, this TV has a lot of features I probably won't use -- I basically just wanted a good high-quality TV. I'm not a tech guy, so I don't know all the ins and outs of different brands and models. But I do know that I like this TV very much and it seems like a good high-quality set to me.

Samsung UN55H6400 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV
The product delivery time was between 3pm and 5pm. They (2 guys) were at my house at 3:10 pm. They did a wonderful job carrying, unpacking and testing the TV. I am pleased with Amazon's service! The set up was easy to accomplish. The functions that allow you to adjust Picture, Sound, Contrast etc. are easy to use. I do not have cable. I do not believe in paying a cable company to watch commercials. Using my open air antenna the picture was excellent. I coupled this TV with a Samsung BD-F7500 4K Upscaling 3D Wi-Fi Blu-ray Disc Player. WOW! The picture and viewing experience is phenomenal ! The picture is clear and crisp. I have not seen a better picture in this price range. My internet service is the standard tier from Road Runner. It exceeds the minimum requirements for Netflix and Amazon Prime Streaming. The Smart Hub. Below are the apps I tested. Netflix: The streaming video is smooth and vibrant. They call it Super HD for 1080p TVs. It is not of Blu-Ray quality. However, the picture is of a vibrant HD quality. Overall Netflix is a positive experience, except for their lack of Newer Titles. Amazon Prime Streaming Video: Not on par with Netflix. I found the picture to "hiccup" while watching Prime Streaming. I do not have another word for what happens. Their offering of Prime videos is meager. Most of the shows on Prime are "pay per view". Pandora: I registered my device as per the directions (Pandora.com/Samsung). You have to use the browser to do this. I still can not use the app in the Smart Hub. I click on the app in the smart hub and it denies entry. I called Samsung Tech Support. This is not a pleasant experience. I think I keep getting routed to the Philippines. They speak really bad broken English. They are of no use in resolving this issue. I give the viewing experience with the Samsung UN55H6400 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV 5 Stars, Netflix 4 stars and Amazon Prime 3 stars and Pandora 0 stars. The jury is still out on the streaming portion of this unit. I am very pleased with this purchase. You will not find a better TV in this price range. *UPDATE* 5/5/2014 There seems to be a software issue here. I have not determined who is to blame, Samsung or the owner of the app. Sometimes all the apps work, and sometimes some do not load. It's not a major issue at this time. Hopefully future software updates will resolve any issues people are experiencing with these Smart televisions. Pandora is now functioning properly. **UPDATE 8/15/2014** This is one of my better purchasing decisions. I am satisfied, pleased and happy with this television. **NOTE: The Web Browser is slow as molasses and useless. But this is typical of almost all smart televisions.** ****UPDATE 10/01/2014**** I am completely happy, pleased and satisfied with this televsion. It is an enjoyable experience to watch tv, watch dvd and Blu Ray discs and play video games. This is one of my alltime smartest purchases

Beautiful set. After doing a bit of research I'm happy to say I made the right choice. Picture quality is first rate and re calibration if desired is quite easy. 3D is far better than I expected, simply great quality. I'm sure the kids will love it. Set up to the wi-fi was a snap. Be advised that Comcast did have to make a security change for the set to connect. I would check with them if you are having problems connecting. Network speed is first rate, actually outperforms my tablet streaming movies and this set provides true web browsing, something not available in many other manufacturers sets. Internal speakers leave a lot to be desired but I already expected that. I have the Sony CT HT770 connected. Sweet combo. At this price point I have no negative comments other than the internal speaker quality. Best TV purchase I've ever made.

SAMSUNG H6400 Overshadowed by Horrendous Smart Remote Energy Consumption.
UPDATE 9/18/15: As written below, you will see I had a problem with the battery life/consumption of the smart remote control that accompanied the Samsung TV. The manufacturer sent me a replacement remote, which thus far, has worked much better with the battery consumption. Where the former remote went thru the four double AAs in 2 weeks, or less, the current remote is still working fine with batteries now heading into their eighth week. Clearly, an improvement! Very unique problem that may have been solved, so I have upgraded the review. PREVIOUS REVIEW: The TV is great, The smart control is nifty, but the biggest issue that detracts from the whole thing, is smart remote battery performance, hence energy use. So far, after several months of use, the pattern evolving is the two AA batteries powering the Smart Remote are shot in 1-2 weeks! That's right. After normal use. No 24 hour maniac gaming, or TV watching. A couple hours a night. I have tested this several times already with brand new Duracell batteries dated 2024. I have called Samsung twice on this, and finally they are sending me a replacement remote, but, if this same thing happens again, I will dump this TV faster than you can say "Crap Technology". If they do not offer me a refund, some kind of adjustment, or good faith gesture, then, I will have to take a loss on this TV in the resale market, and be really pissed off at Samsung for releasing this poorly engineered remote system. No one should be a prisoner of battery consumption at this rate. Every two weeks to change batteries in a TV remote, under normal viewing habits, is unacceptable. If you already bought this TV, try dating your battery installs, and see how long they last. If you have the same atrocious experience I have, complain loudly to Samsung. This can't go on.
