I recently bought this 16-inch bike for my 5-year-old daughter, and I’m very happy with this purchase. The size is perfect for her age, and she feels comfortable and confident while riding it. The bike is well-made, sturdy, and safe, which is very important for me as a parent. It was also easy to assemble, and the design is really cute and appealing for young kids. I was looking for a good quality bicycle for my 8-year-old granddaughter but was not very impressed with the offerings from the retailers in my area. Having a credible knowledge of bicycles, I searched Amazon and came across RoyalBaby bicycles. Based on her size and riding ability, I focused on this 20-inch "Stargirl" bike. The features I look for are all on this bike. It is rigidly built with a steel frame yet weighs only 19 lbs. If a bike is too heavy, a child will struggle to ride it (especially a little girl). There is a lot of adjustability for seat and handlebars. Once I adjusted them for her size and comfort, I found there was much more room to go as she grows. The frame style provides for an easy step in and step out, ideal for girls. Being 8 years old, she is into the "princess theme" this bike has. However, it is subtle enough that as she gets older and breaks from her "royal lineage" it will still be "cool" enough for her to ride. For some reason, the "lavender" color frame was $50 cheaper than "purple" (although I couldn't tell the difference from the photos on Amazon) so lavender it was! (I think it's just a lighter, creamier purple shade but still looks good.) I was very impressed at how well the bicycle was packaged. Areas susceptible to damage while shipping were wrapped in plastic and/or cardboard. I found no damage at all. As advertised, assembly was very easy. You mount the seat, handlebar assembly, pedals and reflectors. The provided tools are adequate for assembly, but I preferred to use my own. Other than that, I found all components to be correctly installed and tightened. The tires were even properly inflated! There is a basket included. It attaches to the handlebars with 2 adjustable locking bands. There is also a bell although it is a flimsy "single ping" that has a dull sound to it. One thing to note is that the brakes on this bike differ based on the size you choose. This 20-inch model has a front caliper hand brake but instead of a rear coaster brake, it has an unusual hand operated drum brake. They both work well and the brake levers are easy enough for little hands to grasp. This is important though if your child is used to the traditional coaster brake as the crank will "free wheel" when pedaling backwards. My granddaughter loves her new bike. She had graduated from training wheels last year and adjusted easily to the new, larger bike. She quickly learned how to use the hand brakes without issue. She thinks it's fun to ride which hopefully should encourage her to want to ride more often. There are many brands and styles of bicycles you can choose for your child. It is important to choose one that fits their size, is easy and FUN to ride. RoyalBaby has several models for boys and girls, and with my knowledge of bicycles, I feel they are very good quality for the price.

Super cute easy assembly very sturdy great bike to learn

It is nice looking and stable. The only problem -it is heavy. 3 yrs old has a hard time to get it out of places. I have to help it back to the flat surface.

UPDATE 2017: We've had this bike for nearly 2 years and it has held up beautifully. She's now riding without the training wheels, and we've raised the seat up for growth. This is a sturdy, quality bike and I'm extremely happy that we chose this as her first bike. She's 6 1/2, now, 48 lbs, and still fits this bike very well. You don't want a bike that's too large for your child. I know those colorful character bikes at WalMart look enticing, but let me urge you to save for this bike. This bike is far and away a better quality than those $40 bikes with the bells and whistles. The body of the bike is a strong metal that won't bend or get broken with a fall. The seat is hard, which is a good thing. It has a little lip at the back for added safety and comfort. The grips are comfortable. The wheels are where the best differences lie between this bike and cheaper bikes. They are STRONG and glide smoothly. The training wheels are just the right length to keep your little one from toppling over, but can provide a good distance from the ground to encourage balance. My daughter is 5 years old and 40" tall. I recommend the 16". The 14" would have been outgrown too soon. Let them grow INTO the bike instead of OUT of it. This is a beautiful bike. Excellent quality! Worth every penny!

I bought this bike for our daughter’s third birthday. We are absolutely happy with this product. It arrived quickly, very easy to put together, and the features are just amazing for being so cheap in price and for only being a children’s bike. I am an avid bike lover, and noticed things about this bike that are of very high quality. There are breaks perfect for the size of a three year old’s hands, we love the bell, the basket is perfect for her dolls, the pedals are perfect height, and the bike actually moved backward and forward without having to pedal like with some adult pricey bikes. The seat has a quick release lever and is perfect for adjusting and re-adjusting at will. I feel like my daughter is safe riding this bike and she just loves it. It is very sturdy. The color is so cute and the details like the hearts on the tires make for a great something extra. We highly recommend this bike to anyone. I looked for hours on amazon trying to find a good, well priced bike, and this one is definitely worth it! All we had to do was pump the tires up a little bit and she was ready to go.

3 year old loves it. At first it seemed a tad big for her, but I'm glad I went with the bigger size because then she can use it for longer. The break options are great: hand breaks (which she uses) and backwards foot pedal breaks (which she uses). I love that the chain is totally covered by plastic so I don't have to worry about her clothing/laces or anythings getting caught in them. The basket and bell are just whatever. The basket hasn't fallen off yet, but the little plastic things that secure it don't look too promising. All the keeps in there are sunglasses and snacks, and maybe a little toy, so we haven't tried it with much weight in there. She likes the bell actually, but doesn't use it often (thankfully for me). The training wheels are nice and sturdy, doesn't wobble too much. when she takes a turn too fast she does tip over and fall but she just gets up and rides again. Most of the time we use elbow pads, knee pads, helmet and gloves. At least always a helmet. Gloves are good for new riders too, but maybe I'm just a tad over protective. Anyway, back to the bike. It's great, she loves it, money well spent. Highly recommend it.

I bought it for my daughter's birthday, she loves it!

I bought this bike for my 4yr old daughter because her other bike broke after 1 week. I am SO happy with the quality of this bike! After owning an inferior bike I can sure tell the difference. Even the training wheels are rubber instead of cheap plastic. We have 4 kids and will buy from this company for all their bikes. You even get all the accessories. I really can't say enough! You won't be dissapointed.
