Tank looks to be well made just installed. Leaked through the plug hole but cured the problem after installed the twist lock connector that has a check valve. With expansion of fuel it will come out with no restriction because this is the fuel pick up. This is the reason for videos of leaking tanks and should be explained in instructions.

I recommend this 12 gallon tank. Its heavy duty, well constructed & has good safety features.
I made good use of this Scepter 12 Gallon Portable Marine Gas Can for my modified Champion Inverter to add a significant amount of run time and convenience. I use this inverter for whole-house power backup during weather related outages and this tank is just what I needed! It is strong and heavy (in a good way) & very solid! The builtin fuel gage works very well to get an idea of how close you're getting to the bottom. Fortunately for me, with 12 gallons this is far less frequently than when I had to rely on the 4 gallon tank that comes with the inverter. The fuel cap and breather feature seems to work well too. That is a very good feature, by the way. It keep the can from swelling in hot weather. People; you really want a GOOD QUALITY fuel container. After all, it's gasoline! This is not an area where you want cheap-out and buy a crappy fuel container. In my opinion this is the one to buy, but I'm a pilot and always think of safety first. I recommend this 12 gallon tank. Its heavy duty, well constructed & has good safety features.

Durable, great capacity and flexible for many configurations.
This is a very durable tank. It is a tall tank, therefore, it is not a long tank. This allows it to fit into tighter spaces.I it hold 12 gallons of fuel. I use it for a diesel heater configuration. The cap is is easy to open and close. It clicks to let you know when it has reached the closed position. It has a 1/4 not fitting from the fuel pickup. Allowing you to use whatever fitting you need. There is a vent in the cap to allow for airflow, so you not create a vacuum in the tank. This has been a very good addition to my configuration, allowing me to run for 2 weeks at a time without refills.

A good tank even with an inconvenient flaw that is easily overcome
I always read reviews before I purchase a product. I am usually most interested in the negative reviews because I want to know what kind of problems people have had. There were three problems specifically mentioned in previous reviews that almost deterred me from purchasing this tank but ultimately did not. The first concern is that an OMC fitting cannot be attached to the tank because of the low clearance. This is illustrated in two of the pictures that I have attached. There are likely a multitude of creative workarounds but I chose the one that I felt was easiest and also allowed me to investigate two of the other concerns mentioned in negative reviews. (It is also the method that is instructed on the inside of the paper that is wrapped around the tank upon delivery). I removed the intake mechanism of the tank altogether. This allowed me to investigate two other concerns listed in negative reviews. One is that the intake tube falls off inside the tank and the other is that it leaks around the fuel gauge. Upon removing the intake mechanism of the tank, I was able to verify that the fuel uptake tube is sufficiently attached and there is a gasket to seal in the fuel. I attached the Johnson OMC hose connector to the intake mechanism of the tank and then reattached it to the tank. All of that took less than five minutes including the time it took to take the pictures I have posted. After a weekend out on the water, I am happy to report a completely functioning tank with no leaks. There was some bloating and swelling of the tank but that is a result of EPA standards that forbid any vapor leakage. I may install a vent or replace the cap with one that vents. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and I do recommend it even though it was a nuisance to attach the OMC fuel fitting

DANGEROUSLY THIN CONTAINERā¦Strange Design Oversight
Looks like itāll work, but with a strange caveat! In order to install a Yamaha quick connect on the tank, I had to loosen the mounting pointā¦kinda a significant design flaw. To make it even more aggravating, one of the mounting screws is partly under the connection point making tightening difficult. UPDATEā¦after putting the tank into use, I discovered the thickness of the tank material to be so thin that it actually deflects when filled with fuel. (notice the indentions in the top corners of the picture) Iām very concerned that the tank mail fail catastrophically when full of fuel, resulting in a release of 12 gallons of gasoline into the hull. The original tank I am replacing after 10+ years of use still has rigid walls, not so with this Scepter tankā¦a thumb can easily make an indention in the Scepter tank.

I purchased this to use as an extra fuel tank for when I travel across the country next month. I have it in the bed of my truck along with a shaker siphon hose just in case I need extra gas between gas stations, my truck is pulling a cargo trailer with tools and household items so it will be heavy and I will burn a lot of fuel on a 5000km trip. One thing that is important, one reviewer talked about the red plastic plug leaking and he gave this tank a 2 star rating based on that, of course, that little red plastic plug is going to leak, it's not meant to stay in the fuel tank, it is only there to keep dirt out of the tank before you install a fuel line connector that has threads, the plastic plug has no threads because it is just a temporary plug so it will leak. If you want to use this as a gas can to store extra fuel like I am doing, you need to buy a proper threaded plug to replace the red plastic plug, this is what I purchased but there are a lot of different options for plugs that you can buy... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B006PKKSQK?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
