Well presented set
All 4 volumes have been brought together in this fine boxed set by Harper Collins. The set comprises the paperback versions of the books in a cardboard slip case. Harper C has produced here a set befitting this magnificent epic, of outstanding print quality, perfectly textured and tinted paper, impeccably proofread, and held together with sturdy spines. The paper even has that wonderful antiquarian smell that lend the bibliophile that extra character to make the reading truly memorable and invested with nostalgia for subsequent reads. Vol 1 (The Hobbit) has several evocative illustrations and maps in black and white, that perfectly complement the storyline and timeline with their antiquarian woodcut engraved quality. The other 3 volumes unfortunately are devoid of any visuals. An excellent and affordable edition that you will enjoy several times over, and will display handsomely on your bookshelf. My set arrived in excellent, brand new, well packed, shrink wrapped condition in just 3 days.

Books are amazing, case is alright, packaging is a bit disappointing.
Ordered on: 28 november 2025 Price paid: ₹1639 Note: this is my first time buying fantasy books, and I'm writing my first review Ok, so the first looks on the packaging itself was not very satisfying as the books were packaged in only a paper cover which did not provide much protection to the book case, the packaging should've been in a cardboard box so the book case could've been better protected, I recieved the book case a bit torn on the edges. The case is also pretty flimsy, I thought It was like a hardcover it is my first time though, just thought I should let y'all know. Talking about the books: 1) The page quality is good, soft to touch not very yellowish. 2)The text size is quite comfortable to read in the hobbit but in the other books it is comparatively smaller. 3)The cover art is amazing, also just to let y'all know, the black details and the coloured highlights on the cover is some shiny smooth material. I will attach images of every book's cover and inside so y'all can get a better look before buying. So, Final Ratings: The books: 10/10 The book case: 7.5/10 Packaging: 4/10

Fantasy lover 😍
I got this box set in completely perfect condition. The books are original not pirated, that's the main point of joy. Thanks to Cocoblu retailer.

I cried for Hama.
These books are to be read many times. Once is not going to be enough. In this world where lots of abnormal things happen, the lord of the rings is one normal thing.

This is as good as they get. Amazing product for such a price. And it delivered really fast.
I ordered this 75th Anniversary Special Edition solely because of the cover and box art. They are simply gorgeous! Though I already have the 2-part The Hobbit books and LOTR epubs (IYKWIM), something about this particular set just caught my eye. So, I chose next day delivery and received the books within 16 hours, so no issues there. I don't think these books themselves need any explaining; if you are a fan of this fantastical world, getting both the novels in the same set seems quite sensible. As for the boxed set itself, - The box is sturdy enough to handle the books provided you're not too harsh on it. Although it could've been slightly thicker to accommodate for the extra space the books occupy once they've all been read (books expand width-wise as they're read, duh). But up to now, this seems to the problem for all boxed sets I own. God my ASOIAF set is pitiful. - The product was well packed in a cardboard box but still one of the box set's corners was crushed and ultimately one of the books' too, though it's not too bad. - As I said, the art on the books is beautiful. Simplicity is something I admit I'm pretty biased about. Plus these arts were made by Tolkien himself. - The font size is pretty decent so reading the text isn't too strenuous for the eyes, unlike the maps, which are practically incomprehensible unless you possess the Byakugan or a magnifying glass. - Not to forget the intoxicating smell of freshly printed pages that takes you away every time you pick up a new book. All in all, this is a great deal and unless you don't mind some slightly crushed corners (which is virtually unavoidable what with all the shipping process) I'd greatly recommend it. 5/5

A tour de force of English Literature
I am a 27-year-old college professor of English literature and am ashamed to say that I had not read the Lord of the Rings before. It was quite popular even during my childhood, for the first movie came out in 2001, and actually performed quite well at the Oscars. I got this box set for just ₹819/- during the August 2021 Lightning Deal, and although I had The Hobbit already, I decided the buy the box set. The books did not arrive in impeccable condition. The box was torn and damaged. One of the books, The Hobbit, also had a damaged cover. Thankfully, I had an extra copy of the book. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase, considering the price. Now coming to the books themselves, only The Hobbit has big comfortable font. The other three books have small print which might strain your eyes if you have eyesight issues. The books themselves are comfortable to hold. They are not heavy but I feel the paper quality from Thomson Press could have been better. It may not be good for underlining and scribbling on the margins, which I do occasionally while reading. As a piece of literature, we know that this series has stood the test of time. Tolkien was a professor himself, and his favourite pastime was making new languages. He was also a translator par-excellence; please read his translation of 'Beowulf', an old English poem featuring dragons and Danish kings. Now a word of caution: I have heard a lot of people say that the books are difficult to read, and even that it's slow! Tolkien was not a millenial. When he wrote the Lord of the Rings, he didn't know that one day people would be glued to their mobile phones and would have short attention-spans. The problem with most of us today is that we love racy plots which move at breakneck speeds. Tolkien writes for people who savour language, and indeed the language itself may feel convoluted at parts. But that is the greatest enigma of his writing. He conjures worlds that people have tried to imitate and have failed. Tolkien was a genius and you will feel it after reading it. Trust me, if you enjoy reading the Lord of the Rings, you will enjoy everything else. That is because Tolkien builds the most complex worlds, and his books can be quite daunting at first for the casual reader. But once you finish this, you will gain more confidence to read longer fantasy worlds.
