Best winter coat ever!
Great coat. Seriously WARM. Hood is exceptional: it can be folded back so you can see AND still keep your head warm, or straighten it out to make a windproof tunnel around your face. Cuffs have a thick knitted under cuff with thumb holes that prevent air zapping your wrists...and allow me to drive without gloves and still keep my hands warm. It's made in Canada and they are very serious about warmth. As good as down without allergy or harm to birds. Attractive, too. Lots for pockets, and a waist.drawstring so you can get some figure definition or let it looser to fit over bulky sweaters. Note:it's designed to go mid weight layers, so if you want room for bulky sweaters SIZE UP!

Great for cold temperatures
Love this jacket. It is stylish and very warm, good quality materials. It is long and bulky but I live in a place where it doesn't get above freezing temperatures for months so it's perfect. It's been in the negative teens with wind-chill since I got it and I haven't been cold once. I'm 5'3 and it hits just at the knee but I feel like it still looks good, I'm not totally drowning in it because the fit is still good. Pockets are great. I like that the fur is removable for washing.

Beautiful, well-made coat, perfect for arctic weather and winter photos!
I bought this coat for a trip I was taking to Finland and the Arctic Circle. I searched long and hard for a coat that was both thick and warm, but also bright blue enough that it would look good in photos! Yes, I know it's vain, but I figured I would only go to the Arctic Circle once and I may as well try to look good! ;) Anyway, this coat delivered in all the ways I had hoped. It is extremely heavy (it feels like it weighs 10 pounds when you take it out of the package) but, when you wear it, it doesn't feel too heavy. It was easy to move around in and kept me COMPLETELY warm in the Arctic Circle (I had to take some layers off it was that good). It was a bit tight across the chest but I could still fit several layers underneath and when I was wearing just a sweater it was fine. My only complaint was that the hood when closed is just the tiniest little hole for only your eyes to look out of, and the fur around the hood is a bit too long. However, I mostly had my hood off, and found that when I wore it more loosely, it was fine. I think the tight hood would be useful for snowmobiling or skiing as the wind would not be able to knock the hood back. The coat was fairly water resistant but as you can see from my photo in the rain, it eventually did let water through and when it did it took a LONG time to dry out. However, I would still recommend the coat, it was stylish, durable, and a great value! I had so many people ask me where I had purchased it and as you can see I had a lot of fun doing a photoshoot in it in the Arctic! If I could rate out of 10, I'd give it an 8.5 but since there are only 5 stars I gave it full marks because it's still a great buy!

Thoughtfully designed, vegan-friendly coat, but a few misses
***Editing a few days later to add more context aftwe reading more of the recent reviews I think the biggest problem with this coat is either a design or manufacturing flaw. I’ve noticed some reviews saying the coat is very tight in the arms and that’s almost it- the problem is really that proportionally, the coat doesn’t have enough material in the upper back/ behind the arms. After the seam ripped, I used an older north face parka I have, size small- it’s overall too small for me right now- I can zip it up and all but it’s overall snugger than I’d want in a winter coat. But even that coat is still very comfortable for me in the shoulders-upper back and allows a complete range of motion of my arms and ability to reach without any strain on the seams. By comparison, I bought this coat in a medium and it really doesn’t allow for that- it is proportionally very tight across the back/upper arms, even though it’s roomier in the rest of the cost than my small north face Original - overall pleased with this coat- it isn’t absolutely perfect, but it is well designed, with seemingly quality, sturdy materials, and warm enough for most of the midwest winter. I like that the hood in particular has useful adjustments- finding a vegan cost with a great hood has oddly been challenging. The misses: - as other reviews note, it’s odd that the zipper stops where it does. That could have been a design choice to allow better movement- not sure. - the main pockets are just not as deep as they should be, and placed a little too high. I don’t terribly mind that they are top vs side opening, though side would be better for my hands. But since they hit me right at the hip and are somewhat shallow, it’s not a great place for a larger phone, and it’s definitely hard to fit anything in addition to a phone like gloves, keys, etc - sizing seems hard to gauge. I would probably size up (or at least not size down) if you’re busty at all. I’m not surprised to see the reviews commenting both that it’s bigger and smaller than expected- I know the vendor says it’s roomy which probably influences size selection, and women’s sizing generally is so ridiculously inconsistent. - stitching could be better. The stitching attaching the arm to the body of the coat just snapped on me when I was reaching for something and viewing the stitching, it seems a little flimsy as compared to the construction of the rest of the coat. I could feel one stitch pop and the rest are now unraveling. I guess that in part means I should have sized up, but I’ve been wearing this coat for a few months now with no issue doing the same things. Just something to be mindful of - I haven’t had to really put it to the test in the brutal cold, but I suspect it wouldn’t ward off the subzero m temperatures. But I’ve been comfortable in it down to maybe 10 degrees F Even with those downsides, I would still purchase this coat again.

Warm!
I purchased the taupe coat first & liked it so well I also got the black. This is an exceptionally warm coat that traps in body heat very well. Length comes down to my knees so it covers my thighs also. The hood is so big & roomy, lined with a soft ff. There are pockets inside & out plus thumb holes on the sleeve cuffs & and inside drawstring at the waist to cinch it in. Really nice looking coat for the price. I wear a 2 & the XS is a perfect fit with room for sweatshirt etc underneath.

Just as warm as goose down, great color!
I chose this parka for a cruelty-free alternative to down parkas. I found Alpine North after doing a google search and spent a couple of days deciding whether or not I wanted to make the purchase. But after receiving and wearing this product, I'm so happy I did. I was used to buying from the Northface and had concerns that a non-down parka wouldn't be as warm. This one is just as warm if not warmer than my old Northface. I ordered the "grape" color in a medium. Normally I'm a small but I wanted something to fit over my big sweaters in the winter. Grape was kind of a departure from my normal style, as I normally choose neutral or black colors for coats, but if you're considering this color, I'd say go for it. I love it. It's not too purple. It's kind of a maroon/wine colored purple. So different than white, black or olive that I'd normally go for. I actually got a compliment on the color of the coat the first couple of days that I wore it. As for size, I'm about 5'2 and the Medium hits below my knees right at my calves. It fits over my heaviest sweaters with room for my arms and doesn't feel too tight. I really like the thumbholes for my hands. And finally the price is great! I spend over $300 on my last Northface parka and it ripped under the arm not too long after I purchased it. This coat was $120 and it feels like it's thicker and higher quality than my old Northface parka. The only two detractors for me: 1- You can't remove the fur trim on the hood, it's permanently attached. 2- And there is no cinchabilty to the waist area of the coat. It goes straight down. If you're looking for some sort of shape, the cut of this parka may not be for you. But, for me the cruelty-free "down", the color, warmth, and price made this a great purchase.

My Vegan daughter LOVED this high quality jacket.
I bought this Vegan jacket for my daughter. We had a trip to Europe and she was in need of a warm jacket and living in a warm climate I hit Amazon for this task. First of all Vegan was my first challenge and my daughter is very fashion minded, but when this jacket came she was thrilled! She kept blurting out how fantastic this jacket was the whole trip!!! First of all she looked adorable in it and the fit was just right. She is 130 lbs, with broader shoulders than most and she is 5’2. I bought her the medium and she said it fit perfectly. Pockets! This jacket is loaded with them. She put her subway pass in the hidden pocket on her sleeve and was able to just flip her arm over and have it scan without taking it out of the pocket for parts of our trip. We had a show one night of all the pockets it sported. She didn’t carry a purse for much of the trip because the inside held her battery pack for her phone, her phone and her passport. She had zipper pockets for her money and change as well. As far as warmth goes, this jacket exceeding the warmth needs of Europe (Amsterdam, parts of Austria, Paris and London) in late December with no issues. She wore it unzipped for many of the days. Oh and the sleeves have the little thumb hook so cold air didn’t get up the sleeve! The hood is adorable and can be snapped so it hugs the face nicely to keep the cold air out as well. During rain the water just ran off this jacket like water does off a ducks back. I know because I followed her up a hill in the rain one night! Haha! Such an incredibly made jacket. My next winter jacket will be one of these for sure!!

Upgrading to five stars
This is an extremely sturdy, very warm coat. The length was exactly what I was looking for and the extra-large hood is very stylish. I only wish the pockets were a bit deeper. This coat has only two fairly shallow flap pockets without a zipper and there are no side slash pockets. There are zippers on the sleeves to make room for a sweater underneath, and other elevated details, so it's odd to me they skimped on the pockets. Otherwise I'm very pleased. The coat is super warm and comfortable. ETA - upgrading to 5 stars. Now that it's freezing cold in NYC, this coat is a rock star. It's warm, perfect fit, comfortable, and the hood is worth ten stars. And, it looks great. So glad I have it.

Warmth with true style
I am so glad I decided to buy this coat this fall. The colour is a beautiful navy blue, with a plush fully lined hood. Around the hood is a lush silvery blue faux fur trim, which looks great with my grey hair. The recessed, knitted wrist cuffs are a perfect length without being constricting, I could tuck my gloves inside the cuffs and/or over lap the gloves over the cuffs, so there were no gaps for the wind to get in. The length is generous and keeps my legs, including my knees warm. The bottom pockets are easily accessible, while the upper chest pockets are fairly deep with the added security of a closing snap each. The coat is truly a great Canadian winter coat, it keeps me super warm via the coverage of it's design, through it's insulating properties, along with, providing room for layers (sweaters or jackets), while offering all the style I want in an overcoat. All of the stitching is solid, including around the zipper and the snaps are all well anchored, thank you providing the product at such a reasonable price.

Lightweight and practical
A beautiful coat, I bought it in the beige. Good quality and fit true to size but it was more coat than I needed so will return but recommend it to anyone who is looking for a warm, lightweight, nicely fitting winter coat suitable for Canadian winters.

Nice and warm. Fits true to size
It’s nice and warm. It fits true to size. Roomy enough for a sweater and warm enough not to need one in a Southern Ontario December wind. Lots of pluses:: Numerous pockets. Looks good. Length goes to my knees (5’6” in XL) Good fit on hood. Faux fur looks and feels decent. Reflective bits are effective and though not adding to the esthetic, they’re not garish. Love the longer inner cuffs that can go under mittens or gloves. Only three small minuses:: Zipper only goes from obecend to the other, so not great for straddling a bike or snowmobile as you can’t unzip from the bottom up. The muff-like pockets are too high up so instead of slipping hands in by your waist, they are more awkwardly positioned up near the rib cage. I actually don’t like like the plush lining in the hood. Most will find it comfortable, but I just see it as collecting snow when the hood is down and causing your head to get wet when you put it on. All in all a great coat for the price point. Morexa 4.5 than a 4 but that’s not an option.
