what psi does it need for best performance?

Per mfg specs, 90psi. This should be checked at the end of your air line. (Where your impact is connected to hose). Not at your compressor or several feet from your end line. Your Psi will drop the further your line is. If you need more torque and your at 90psi then you should of bought a 3/4" impact. All vehicle service tools are rated and tested at 90psi.

The manufacturer recommends 90 psi. You can get a regulator to adjust your psi. I’m not sure what pressure our shop runs there compressor at. 120? Never had a problem with my old one or the new one, because of pressure. My old one, the button broke in the back. Every time I wanted to switch directions, I had to get the button out of my toolbox. I have and had the Quiet model. Very powerful, quiet, and light.
