LOVE this brand. Such a rich authentic chocolate.
SO decadent. Love the grittiness of the cocoa beans in it. Really rich and satisfying.

The old time Mexican chocolate today
Exceptional. Not overwhelmed by too much sugar. Discrete flavoring for the sensitive tongue, clean without chemicals. Wish there were selective flavoring of specific ingredients. The chili disk is my all time favorite and I do not like spicy food.

Interesting Flavors, Very Pricey for What You Get
This chocolate will appeal to people who really like Mexican Style Hot Chocolate and who are hard core "foodies". As other reviewers have stated, this chocolate is grainy, as is the chocolate in most other Mexican style hot chocolate wafers. These wafers are thin, and some of the flavors are unusual, including the chile flavor, which I found inedible. I ended up putting it in the compost pile, but it might please people with more adventurous palates than mine. I enjoyed the plainer flavors, such as the vanilla tinged chocolate. At the price that they are charging for this chocolate, I was hoping that I would love every flavor and I certainly didn't anticipate that I wouldn't even want to eat some of it because it tasted bad to me. I actually prefer the flavor of Ibarra hot chocolate which is also much cheaper than this brand, so I don't see any reason to spend the money on Taza chocolate again. The only reason that I would buy this chocolate again is as a gift for someone who is really into different kinds of chocolate. As for myself, I'll stick to Ibarra.

Flat Out my Favorite Chocolate on the Planet but Outrageously Priced
I love Taza Chocolate discs. The stone ground "grainy" texture. The unique flavors. I am a chocolate fiend and these are at the absolute top of the list for my personal tastes. As in the number one spot. But the prices are beyond absurd (for me subjectively). Even within the 2023 scope of post-pandemic and "inflation", the prices are still outrageously silly. I don't mind paying for quality once in awhile, especially if I consider it the best in a category. But even with that framing, the prices are still bonkers. I tried these the first time many moons ago during a summer chocolate clearance sale on an Amazon sister site. And even during that they were a seemingly silly price. But the flavors in their 8 count variety pack were too intriguing to pass up. I was blown away when they arrived. If you'll pardon the descriptor; orgasmic. They were simply amazing. I immediately bought a handful more and tossed em in the deep freezer. Pulling one out on random rainy days over time. That was it for purchasing the best chocolate on the planet for years though. They sat on my Amazon wishlist with their absurd prices, never reaching a point where I could venture back into chocolate heaven. Years. I just picked this 4 pack up on "sale" for 8USD which is the lowest it has been in those years. My glasses weren't rose-tinted; These were still my favorite chocolate. The grainy texture can only be described as such, but doesn't do it justice. It's still chocolate. It still melt in your mouth. It's an amazing textural experience and mouth feel. The "minimally processed" really shines through in this respect. The chocolate itself is top notch. They don't over sweeten. It's the right amount of bitter. Perfectly balanced. And then the flavors... My goodness. Again, perfect balance. Perfect amount of each to make them present, but in the end it's still chocolate first and foremost too. The flavor and chocolate are always hitting you the same amount from bite to aftertaste. Perfect unison. But the prices are dumb. The brand has leaned more into bars and less fun flavors (though who knows, I haven't tried them because; ya know). These Mexican inspired discs hopefully aren't ever going to fall to the wayside because man, they're lightning in a bottle. Prices and spending are nearly completely subjective, I'm just too much of a boring tightwad to be able to enjoy these as much as I'd like. Even 5% as much as I'd like. Who knows, maybe it's for the better, "too much of a good thing" and all that! I just wanted to say, that if you're on the fence and the price isn't a barrier; Go for it. These are amazing. They are IT.

Please sir - can I have some more!
This sampler is dangerously good. I bought it to try something different and now Iโm low-key obsessed. Every flavor is unique and satisfying, but the chili one? Thatโs my ride-or-die. Just the right balance of heat and dark chocolate richness. Iโve only eaten it by snapping off pieces so far, but now Iโm dreaming of melting it into a spicy hot cocoa situation. The texture is gritty in the best wayโstone ground and full of character. Itโs not your average chocolate bar, and thatโs exactly what I love about it. Highly recommend if you like bold flavors, real ingredients, and chocolate that doesnโt play by the rules.

If you like chocolate and value purity.
Taza is, in my opinion, the peak of traditional stone ground chocolate. The flavours are not overly pronounced, even with the varieties presented, instead leaning in a more subdued approach. What remains is a chocolate enhanced and enriched. While the texture might not be to everyone's palate, it is a texture that speaks to this product's purity and authenticity. The cocoa speaks louder than any milk additive, forsaking an overly produced mouthfeel for one that harkens back to simpler times and natural processes.
