Amazing Product, Actually Works! Goodbye Itching and Redness!!
I can't believe this stuff works as well as it does. I pored over the reviews before purchase, and was a bit skeptical, but for the $13 or so that I paid, I figured what the heck. I have tried literally everything to control my seborrheic dermatitis, from OTC remedies such as Ketoconazole, Selenium Sulfide and Pyrithione Zinc to $350 Clobetasol shampoo, and a whole host of cheaper Rx goops and ointments. I even tried crazy home remedies like olive oil scalp soaks, etc. Don't believe people that tell you this stuff reeks or stains towels, clothing, sheets; none of this is true. Rinse it out of your hair like anything else. No rocket science, no tricks. It smells like regular OTC Head and Shoulders dandruff shampoo, which is to say, pleasant but not overly sweet or herbal. It's not very medicinal at all. The way other reviewers carried on, I was prepared for it to smell like hell! For those with experience, coal tar shampoo smells absolutely terrible, this stuff smells like spring meadows compared to that. After one use, no kidding, my seb derm was almost under control--itching gone, redness almost gone, very few flakes remaining. After three uses, I was (and remain) fully symptom-free. My scalp. Does not. Itch. I've been to over 4 dermatologists in 2 years (PPO and HMO). For all the hundreds I've spent, it's an amazing relief to have this stuff work so damn well. You owe it to yourself to try this if you're suffering with seb derm. Fwiw, regular Selsun Blue (which features the same active ingredient at perhaps a lower strength by default) didn't do the trick, but this stuff did. Whatever the case, this 1% selenium sulfide concoction is amazing. According to my dermatologist, the way to keep seb derm under control is to rotate, so use this and others throughout the week to "confuse" your scalp into behaving, while not allowing it to adapt to one consistent method of treatment. Either way, this stuff is worth its weight in gold. No more flakes, no more itching, no more redness AT ALL. Protip: if you have seb derm on the face or sideburns, a little of the lather from this will get rid of it as well. I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice =]. PS I have been using this for two months and have not lost any hair or incurred temporary baldness due to this product, nor has it otherwise ruined my life or pursuit of happiness. There's quite an array of interesting reviews for this shampoo.

Absolutely Amazing
I've been using the Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength Shampoo for about 2 years now and I just had to share my experience in case it can help someone out. I've suffered with terrible dandruff since the 5th grade ( I am now 28). I have tried everything - nearly every dandruff shampoo, natural remedies, altering my diet, etc. and nothing worked. I even tried just about every other Head and Shoulders shampoo which did not help much at all. I came across this shampoo in Walmart and figured I'd give it a try even though I did not have high hopes, but as many of you know the struggle you're willing to try anything. After the first wash, about 75% of my dandruff was gone. My scalp was not nearly as itchy either. After the second wash, about 90% gone. And by the 3rd or 4th wash it was like I never had dandruff in my life. I waited and waited to see if eventually the dandruff and itching would return, and I'm still amazed to say that after 2 years I am still dandruff free. This product has truly changed my life - no more embarrassment and constantly checking in the mirror for flakes. Like anything, there are a couple cons: 1) This shampoo can be drying to your hair so make sure you use an excellent conditioner with it and deep condition regularly. 2) I have read that it can change the color of jewelry so make sure you are not wearing jewelry with this product. 3) The smell is strong and bothersome to some people. My husband and mother cannot stand it but my dad and I use it regularly and it doesn't bother us at all. 4) I did try not using this product for 2 weeks once and my dandruff did begin to reappear and my scalp began to itch again. So this is not a cure. As for an added bonus I have recently used this shampoo in a strange way... I use it as a body wash for my underarms. I apply a quarter size amount and then scrub it in a little with a wash cloth and any body odor is completely gone and stays gone. It can take about 2-3 times doing this for all odor to subside, but this allows me to use an all natural deodorant (I need to stay away from aluminum) and smell great all day. Now I know this is probably not a one size fits all, but for the price I recommend giving it a shot.

This has left my hair so soft! And I have no flakes after using it!
This set of 2 Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength shampoo came as scheduled through my Subscribe and Save plan. The bottles came wrapped in a plastic bag for protection, and arrived with no spillage or leakage. The shampoo is a bright orange color, and although there is a faint “lava rock” smell like all of these type of shampoos have, it is not a strong as some other clinical shampoos such as Tegrin. I wanted to see if it would help my family since several of us have seborrhea and have really flakey hair even right after washing it because of it. This Head and Shoulders Clinical says it takes care of many of the symptoms of ‘seborehic dermatitis’ so I figured I’d give it a try. So this morning I washed my hair with it, and the first thing I noticed is that it is low suds. I wondered how well that would do in cleaning my hair. The smell of the shampoo was not unpleasant, although, again, it does have that “lava rock” smell it is not overpowering at all. And another thing I noticed is that when I rinsed it out, it felt as if I had just applied a conditioner, my sopping wet hair felt really soft. As I towel dried it, I noticed the same thing, that my hair seemed pretty soft, so I just went ahead and used my familiar routine; a little bit of mousse on the wet head & blow dry. When I got done my hair was so soft and was extremely well behaved: no flyaways, no static stick ups! And none of the flakes I usually see hanging around after I wash my hair, not even at the end of the hair line where my forehead is! I’m really pleasantly surprised. I told my family that my hair seemed super soft and they all ran their fingers through my hair and agreed. All I can say is, WOW! This shampoo really impressed me for the cleaning job it did, and I like that the smell is not very noticeable (the other clinical shampoos I used have a scent that sticks around for 2-3 days) and that it has made my hair really, really soft while the flakes are not there! I would recommend this for anyone with this condition to try this shampoo- it really worked for me! And I put it on my Subscribe and Save so I won’t have to worry about running out—and I don’t have to cancel the subscription because it is really a keeper!

Good So Far.
So far it seems to be working as advertized. The type of dandruff i have is not the flaking kind, it is more like an accumulation of dead cells stuck to the scalp. Was prescribed Nizoral, worked OK, but expensive to get the 2% prescription strength version. The version offered on Amazon's site is 1% Ketoconazole, prescription is 2%, (about $29) really not sure if that would make a substantial difference in how effective it is but decided to try the Head and Shoulders Clinical instead. I don't remember where I had seen it but in a comparison test it seemed more effective than Selsun Blue. Don't know what the test parameters were. Still this is so much cheaper didn't feel like I had much to loose. Selsun Blue has a different active ingredient which may be better in your particular situation. If you want the 2% Ketoconazole/Nizoral version you can find it on EBay, comes from Thailand. Will update this review in a couple of months with further results. Found more than one article on the Internet suggesting the use of Baking Soda as a shampoo since it is supposed to remove accumulated gels, sprays, etc.. Tried it, works well, cleans right down to the scalp, do not scrub hard, gentle massage technique suggested. I use a little gel, no sprays, conditioners or other treatments. This shampoo is definitely Not the 'No Tears' version, hard to wash and let it sit for 5 minutes in the shower. Going to try using a sink, lather rinse re-apply and wrap a towel around head for 5 minutes, then rinse. Keep your eyes closed. Hope this helps.

Has Really Helped w/ Itching, Flaking, and Feeling Embarrassed
It's a long story but the short version is that my scalp was badly chemical burnt by an inexperienced hairdresser ~3 years ago and since then, my scalp health has been a struggle. Overall, it's just been a lot of dryness but within the last three months, I have felt an overwhelming amount of itching that also manifested as dandruff, scaling, and the really unfortunate sideffect of feeling like my scalp was coming off. It's been really embarrassing to have to wear my hair up and do everything I can to hide the flaking and itching and nothing I was doing was helping the sensation or the flakes. There were no changes to my hair situation that would have caused it but sometimes hair can do weird things. I happened upon this stuff on a random Amazon search and the reviews were really decent so I ordered the two pack. The product is orange with a slight medical smell to it. And it recommends that you leave it in your hair for about 7-10 minutes to let it do its thing. So, I get in the shower, wet my hair, work this in and every minute or so move the product around and scrub it a little until the time is up. And in the three weeks I've been using it, the flaking is ~85% better and there is no longer a terrible itching sensation. A what little is left is getting better each day. For the first time in a while I've been able to fully wear my hair down and while this wasn't the intended purpose of using this product, the mid shafts and ends of my hair are really soft, shiny, and healthy. Great bonus. Overall, if you are struggling with scaling, itch, flaking, and the emotional side effects of that, I would say to give this product a shot because I've only had positive change since using it and the boost to my confidence as well as overall hair health has been very needed. I feel stupid for being so embarrassed and struggling for so long when I could have been using this. Not back to 100% but getting darn close.

Worked Great For Me!
I wanted to make sure that I came in here and wrote a quick review for this product before I forgot again. Dandruff is embarrassing, but a fact of life. It happens, and unless you just want to live with it you need to find some way to quickly and with as little fuss, get rid of it. I've had chronic dandruff for several years now. I'd made cursory efforts here and there to deal with it, including using other shampoos of this type, including other versions of this very brand. Nothing really worked for me. I just recently decided to try the Clinical Strength Head & Shoulders, and as I said I've tried the less potent stuff before to no avail. I am happy to report that with this product I noticed an almost immediate difference, and somewhere between the first full week and second week of me using it, it completely cleared up my dandruff. Now I'm down to using it perhaps 3 or 4 times per week, while using my regular shampoo every other day, and I've remained dandruff free. I will say it has that distinctive Head & Shoulders scent, not really bad or good, but you're not going to smell like lilacs unless you use scented conditioner or something. The bottom line here is that it worked wonders for me, so if you have your standard chronic dandruff issues then it will probably work for you as well.

Works as expected when used sparingly
This stuff is great. I find it really dries the scalp if used daily though. I use it every couple of days and it's great when used in that manner. The price on Amazon was easily comparable to what I found in store--possibly cheaper. Everything about this bottle was the same as the ones I have bought in store as well. Dimensions can be seen in the photos I have uploaded. Pros: *Good price for a good product *Keeps scalp hydrated if used every other day or every couple of days Cons: *Daily use causes dry scalp Overall: 4.5/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, <.5 rounds down) => 5 stars If you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Don't trust the picture.
I ordered the first pictured item, UPC 03700027401, Head and shoulders Clinical Strength but received the second pictured item UPC 03700067375, Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength for Oil Control with Citrus Scent. When Amazon said they only had 10 of these left and I ordered three packs, I expected to get the UPC item I searched for and which was pictured. Instead, I got the one of the three new versions. The message here is that if anyone wants the old style Head and Shoulders, forget about it. No one has it any more, and P&G leaves you with no original choice, only modified formulations with amped up fragrance. The active ingredient is the same, so it will likely control dandruff fine, but if you are sensitive to fragrances, you may have to try all three versions to find out if any are acceptable.

Great product
I suffer with a type of dermatitis which nobody has been able to definitively diagnose my condition but it flares up intermittently at random times which results in areas weeping, cracking and becoming itchy and sore, raised, raw and hot to touch. I have suffered for years and never found anything that has helped me like this has so i am extremely happy and I am truly amazed. When I have a flare up it extends from scalp to face and down to the chest. I used this washing each area that has flared up daily and within just a few days it cleared up. Now I use it semi regularly at just once - twice weekly as a preventative and so far I have had no further flare ups. My son who is just 14 also suffers extreme dandruff on his scalp and eyebrows and acne on his face and shoulders, he has used this and it has cleared up all his dandruff and has reduced his acne. As you may be able to tell I used it as a wash in the required areas rather than as a shampoo and advised my son to do the same so although I have read no advice to be used in such a way I can say from personal experience it works but I would advise against over using it too

Excellent Shampoo. Must use for Dandruff
Excellent Product. I was earlier using another shampoo and my Hair would go totally dry and causing dandruff within just a day of not having head bath. After using head and shoulders, it just made my hair so fluffy and beautiful. Even if I dont wash my hair for 5 days the hair remains smooth. Just love this product!!
