I Have These Mounted Indoors & Out And Zero Rust! They Are Solid As A Rock Mounted With Only (2) Screws One On Top And One On Bottom When Your Only Going Into A Stud in the Wall. This Product Is Identical to the Home Depot Grab Bars Just Different Brand Names and Packing Materials But Made In The Same Plant With Same Brackets! I Bought The Delta Brand 36" And Figured It Would Be As Good Or Better But I Was Wrong! The Covers That Fit Over The Hardware are crap With The Delta and the Mounting Welded Flanges Only have 3 Holes. The Amazon Basics and Home Depot (SAME PRODUCT) Are More an Industrial Grab Bar with No Fancy Stylish Junk. The 36" Home Depot is $90 and the Amazon Basics is $31.40 and are The Same Exact Identical Product Made in The Same Manufacturing Plant, The Delta Brand Is Different But Not Better! It's Ok But For The Money You Just Can't Beat The Amazon Basics! Solid as a Rock and Quality! Look At The Mounting Welded Flange on All These Bars and 95% Are All The Same Except Delta and Maybe Moen? The GLACIER BAY GRAB BARS Are Again The Same Exact Product as All The Others At triple The Cost So If Your Looking For A Fancy Product Name and Colorful Box and Are Willing To Pay Twice For The Same Products? Same With Gasket Sealers! One Company Fills The Tubes and It All Comes Out Of The same 55 Gallon Drums! RED, BLACK, BLUE, ETC It's All The Same Product In Different Tubes That Claims High Heat on One Tube and Dura-Bond Racing Gasket Sealer At 3 Times More Money :O) They Are All The Same Gasket Sealers No Matter The Outer Tubes and All The Colors Are The Same Other Than The Color Except Clear Gasket Sealer Is Not For Gas or Oils But If The Tube Says Its For Oil Seal and the Other Tube Says Good For Gasoline and The Other Says Its for Extreme High Performance Nascar Racing It All Pumps From the Same 55 gallon Drums and a Product Change is a Pallet Of Tubes and If The Tubes Are Smaller Then a Piston Stroke Adjustment to the Filler. Works great for a short handrail on a 4 step flight of stairs. Zero complaints. You will need to use some heavy duty drywall anchors if securing directly to drywall/plaster if no wood to secure screws into.

The real deal, the 1.5 inch diameter provides a more comfortable, solid grip, the lids are so cool to snap off (they recommend a rubber hammer, and my little one worked perfect to pop em off the flanges, lotsa holes in case yr stud wasn't quite where you thought it was . . ;) . . . nice finish, and the brushed metal texture improves wet grip too . . but the screws . . . no taper, they use a phillips instead of torx . . still, they ARE stainless, and properly drilled holes can be driven into without too much cursing. . AND ADA COMPLIANT

I mounted this bar horizontally in my shower that is walled with 5/16" thick hard plastic material. Installation was a bit of a bother and involved some guess work and a couple of trips to the hardware store. My first issue was not being able to locate studs magnetically behind the shower wall, but I wanted the bar centered anyway so I decided to use wall anchors. I drilled the holes with a 5/16" masonry bit that worked well without walking. After some 10-12 size anchors and silicone caulk did not hold fast when the #10 screws began turning, I replaced them with 12-14 size ribbed plastic wall anchors by Hillman that provided a very tight press fit. I put some Gorilla glue around the anchors for additional grip and waterproofing and tapped them flush to the wall with a dowel and small hammer, and let them fully cure for 24 hours. I installed three anchors per side for maximum strength. I mounted the bar to the anchors with #10 stainless pan head screws that provided a good tight fit and hold. I also had some #12 screws on hand, but tried the #10s first and went with them. The two end covers push on and twist tight against the wall. The final result looks great and is super solid. I think it was worth the time and extra dollars spent at the hardware store on bit, screws, and anchors.

All of the amazon basics grab bars are great!!! The 1.25 is just the right size for myself and my 5' tall wife. We love them and they even come with the appropriate mounting hardware.... They are GREAT!!!! And at a Great Price!!! I used one of the 36" bars as a grab bar/towel bar, so it is dual purpose, can't do that with a regular flimsy towel bar!
