Coastal Scents 88 Color Palette, Warm

These are beautiful, came in perfect condition, and are amazing for ...wait for it... Travel art journaling!!! Do you use pastels (pan or stick) to art journal? Can you imagine taking 88 colors with you somewhere? I don't think so! Well, now you can. These work wet or dry, in fact, with a watercolor brush and water they function just like water colors but without all the mess because they're powder! I used them over Gesso and regular paper. I've stenciled, used markers, colored pencils (water color and regular), texture products, spray inks, and white markers over them, and they cling great! They are not designed for art, do not advertise themselves to be archival quality (I'd be shocked if they were), but a fixative would probably preserve them just fine. I've been using them for a while, but not long enough to know how long they last. They feel just like the pan pastels, and you can use these with your fingers, you cannot do that with the others because they contain chemicals known to cause cancer. These on the other hand are designed for use on the skin. I was getting really tired of lugging around so much stuff when I wanted to take my art journaling stuff with me, but now I cut it down by half! I don't think you're going to find any source of 88 portable colors anywhere that are as good a quality, safe, and so reasonably priced. I'm thrilled with these. Oh, and they look great on the eyes too! Note: I am not claiming these are equal to, or able to replace, true art products used by professionals. I am however saying they are great for amateur projects, experimenting, and travelling. But to be fair, the finished products I've made are indistinguishable from the ones I've made using true art products. And for the price, you cannot go wrong. If you don't like them for art, you can use them for your eyes!

5 years and I have not yet run out of one color and I'm still happy with the results, here are the pros and cons. Pros: -Highly pigmented (even the black!) -TONS of shades/variety, allows you to experiment without having to shell out a ton of money -Durable color, many nights out and still looked great by 4am! -$15! Compare to any big name brand and you usually pay at least $1-2 per shade Cons: -Dropped case a few times (whoops my fault) some colors popped out and cover detached So yeah it'd be nice if the case was more durable but I really can't fault the company for my slippery fingers. Overall, I'm still milking my purchase of only $15, 5 years later and I have watched other shadow combos come and go that I spent way too much on. You won't be disappointed, it would be a great gift to someone who is new to makeup! Tip: -If you are looking for professional results I'd recommend using a primer underneath (definitely not mandatory though) and to buy NYX white jumbo eyeliner pencil (super cheap) if you want the lighter shades to pop like crazy!

I have been contemplating getting this palette for the longest time. I've seen video after video on Youtube, but I was still worried that the quality would be lacking. It just seemed too good to be true that I could get 88 quality shadows for under twenty bucks. I am really picky about eyeshadow. Most of my eyeshadows are from high end brands. That being said I am very happy with this palette. The majority of the colors are very pigmented and there are a lot of unique colors to play with. One of the main reasons I got this palette was to be able to play around with bright colors. If you are like me, it is easier to shell out $15 for a brown shade you can year everyday, than for a bright pink you will only wear a few times a year. This palette is perfect for that because you get a wide variety of colors to play with. There are also some really pretty browns and neutral palettes which is a big plus. If you are just starting out with make-up this palette pretty much has every color you would ever need. Overall, I am pleased with the palette and feel it is an amazing value for the money, however there are a few cons I should point out. First, while the majority of colors are very pigmented, a few are chalky and lack pigmentation. I am ok with this because even if a few shadows aren't the best it is still a good value for the money. Secondly, if you really want the colors to look thier best you really need to use a primer. I use a primer anyway, but if you don't you may not be as satisfied with the colors in this palette. Finally, I've had this palette less than month and some shadows have already been popping out. The palette has not been dropped and I have read similar complaints, so it is obviously a product defect. This really annoys me but I love the shadows so much I can over look it. Just bear in mind that the shadows may pop out and keep the palette level when you are using it, otherwise you may lose a shadow or two. For me the pros definitely outweigh the cons. If you are on the fence I recommend you watch some video reviews and tutuorials to help you decide.

Okay, well to start off with, absolutely over-joyed that my palette got here, been putting off buying it because I was not completely sure how I would like it and IF it was amazing like everyone said it was going to be,as they broadcasted it on youtube and etc, but I put all that nonsense aside and finally cracked down and bought it! BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE! First of all, sleek, sophisticated black makeup palette, pleasing to the eyes first and formost and makes you feel like you are a little makeup artist! lol literally, best eye shadow I have used in a longgg time, I am a makeup freak completely, escpecially for eye products such as eyeshadows, eyeliner, things of that nature. The makeup is so smoothe, not chalky or pasty. Very smoothe, a little shimmery and very vibrant. I couldn't of asked for a better eyeshadow palatte, & it will last for virtually a longgg period of time, defintely will be purchasing another palette in the future, go coastal scents your freakin' awesome! (: OH and the seller of this product, the shipping rate and packaging for the product was great, not expensive, just quick and easy service, i paid on a friday threw amazon with my credit card and by monday night it was at my front door. So quick, and no hassel. I use NYX eyeshadow primer in white and with the coastal scents it's great, covers so easily - [like butta] lol and you only need a little, of both the primer and eyeshadow and it goes a longgg way. A definite must have for beginners, intermediate or even pro makeup lovers! Seriously you need to try it!

I want to make this clear and to the point so that you don't have to read 4 paragraphs to get this review. I spent days comparing all of the eyeshadow palettes on amazon and therefore this review should save you a lot of time. I am a poor college student. I have never used MAC make up in my life. I buy drugstore eye shadow normally, and this product is BETTER. It goes on smooth and vivid, blends wonderfully and a little goes a LONG way. My boyfriend never even noticed I was wearing eyeshadow until I used this palette for the first time. If you are new to eyeshadow like I am, this is the PERFECT starter set. You get so many colors for so cheap, if you tried to buy all of those colors in separate packs you'd spend a fortune! People say this eyeshadow is chalky, I have yet to notice this. This set comes with some shimmer and some more matte shades, variety is good. Most of the bad reviews are due to "broken makeup" in package. This is not Amazons fault, it is the clumsy shippers fault, therefore this product did not deserve to get a bad review. Mine came perfectly and 3 days earlier than estimated. The swatches of color are VERY small. I was even prepared for how small they were because I had been reading reviews of people saying they are "dime sized" and I was STILL shocked by how small they are. However, very little goes very far so I see this palette lasting forever and ever! MY ONE thing I would say I would have liked from this product is a darker purple. They have what looks like dark purple but it ends up being blue on your skin.

Like a lot of people, i was hesitant prior to ordering. The colors excited me and i couldnt wait for it to arrive. It arrived in perfect condition and the colors look very vibrant. These colors are great for experimenting with, ive had a lot of fun with it. I love all the new looks i can create. The blues and greens and the black are very pigmented and last most of the day. I dont get the 'chalky' look others have experienced. HOWEVER, the other colors dont seem to stay, for more than a few hours or so. I wear this for work, in a COLD office, so i dont understand how the colors fade so quickly, even with an eyeshadow base. So, for the time being i am happy with sporting very brilliant blue or green eyeshadow looks. I belive this is great for learning how to apply and blend colors as well as experimenting, as the colors wipe off easier than other, much more expensive pigments. Still a good buy!

This palette is great! the shadows are the size of a dime if you want a better idea of what you're getting, so they're very small, but there are man colors alike so if you run out of your favorite, i guess you can use one that is very close to it for some more time. The colors are very nice, all of them, and i like how it has some metallic and some matte shades. I have used it for a couple weeks now and it's very good. I use an eye-shadow base (Estee Lauder) so they stay on my skin the whole day long. I read other reviews that said that it runs off but i guess that those people were not using a base. it's definitely worth the money. shipping was good too, came fast and in very good condition. update: dec 2012. its been a year and a half that i have this palette and I still use it!!! I have used it almost every day since i got it and most of the colors are still pretty full. i use these eyeshadows (just like any other eyeshadow) with eye primer (normally MAC or Estee Lauder) and by the end of the day my makeup is perfect in place. i would buy this palette over and over again, except it lasts forever so it might be another year or more before i have to buy one. (maybe a bad thing for the seller?)

First off, I did receive my order earlier than expected and am pleased with my purchase. The eye shadows are highly pigmented and I will have a blast with all of the fun shades. Even though they are small, I think they will last me forever. When I first ordered and received my tracking info from HW, I couldn't get it to work on the Amazon site or USPS. So I emailed them to see if maybe I was a number off or I ended up with the wrong number. They IMMEDIATELY emailed me back with the correct number (which was the number I had) and an explanation as to why it wasn't working for me. I decided to be patient and actually wait for my palettes to get here (I ordered this one and the metal mania). They both arrived yesterday and one was in picture perfect condition while the other had two broken shadows in it. I was kinda bummed, but emailed them about it and they told me that they will replace the eye shadows...no questions and no problems! Their customer service has been prompt, friendly and extremely helpful. I was courteous and they were too, a little bit of understanding from both sides goes a looong way in my book and I will buy from Huge Warehouse again! **Update 6/28/2012- I contacted the seller and was, admittedly, upset for not receiving my new pallet or even any information. They have given me a tracking number for my new pallet mailed on May 14th. It has either gotten lost or... I will be heading to my local post office to see what can be done about finding it. **Update 8/13/2012- Still nothing!! No pallet, no follow up from this seller...I will never use them again, but I will follow this pallet to see if they will eventually replace it. I wonder how many months it will take to get exactly what I ordered...hmmmm.... **Update 5/15/13- I give up...this company isn't going to replace anything! I WILL NEVER SHOP WITH HUGEWAREHOUSE AGAIN!!!

The colors are just wow!!! Love it....

Only concern would be using this carefully to avoid product spillover and color mixing. It is a sturdy packaging but I would still not use it for travel as there are too many colors in there that could get mixed up in case of an accident.

I just opened and everything was good except the black eyeshadow got broken during shipping I can hopefully fix it with rubbing alcohol. Otherwise everything looks great.
