AMAZING seeds are growing like "weeds"! Great product. Made my 2 rows to seed start. Its crazy fast growth. Can't wait to thin and separate for my bigger indoor pots. Would buy seeds again from this dealer/company. Have had poor returns on seed growth from others. This has been great so far. Will keep y'all posted. Totally buy again if needed.

Horrible. My dad has been a farmer his entire life and he was only able to get 5 to sprout. He planted some green onion seeds at the same time from the dollar store and they all grew. These are horrible and burpee should be ashamed of themselves.

I'd like to rate higher but my seeds were very low vitality. I was very generous planting them in a container. I only got 4 seeds to germinate. I'm quite disappointed in that. Meanwhile I also have scallion seeds from Bentley brand which were far healthier seeds which all germinated in the pot. Bentley is also cheaper than Burpee, plus local to my state of New York. I'd love to rate these seeds higher but no, I can not considering most of my seeds were way old. While Burpee is extremely popular of a seed company, some of what they are selling isn't top notch quality. Update 08/08/2026 Considering I did purchase scallions from Bentley brand which has excellent vitality, I will say how scallions grow. When they sprout they tend to come up looking grass like, very similar to chives. They kept their seed head on them for quite a while. Bottom watering your container is recommended because of how fine looking they are. It can be quite easy to potentially over water and kill them. My scallions is about 6w age currently. While they aren't market ready yet, they have started to thicken up a bit so they aren't as frail. In fact they look like miniature versions of the mature scallions we see at the market. Like traditional onions that grow bulbs, they do need some level of fertilizer. While they do not require as much as a full onion bulb, using half the recommended amount is highly beneficial. Scallions do need a higher nitrogen fertilizer to thrive. I used Fox Farm's Happy Frog, OMRI organic 6-4-5 granular fertilizer which has my scallions vibrant and a nice deep green. They have been quite robust in growth. Because I randomly scattered my seeds in my 6in planter, I did need to thin them out a bit. Ultimately I ended up with 4 pots of scallions with 4 scallion seedlings a piece. While they are still on the thinner side, scallions is known to transplant well and is able to be regrown. They have settled in nicely since the transplant a week ago. Overall, from seed to maturity is about 2 months time span.

Not one seed grew. Instructions were easy to follow, and this is the variety that I wanted but unfortunately as they didn't grow I would say this is a very poor value for money.

These seedlings are so fragile that even water can weigh them down until the die. I've even tried watering them with a very light mist and they still fall over and eventually die. This is the second time I have tried so I don't know what the magic is, but these seeds don't seem to hold up and just fall over and eventually die even though they get the right amount of sun,, the soil is properly wet but if more than a mist of water hit them, they fall over and die.
