Does what it says on the tin - and does it very well....

I rarely post a review of anything... but I’m so impressed with this little amp. After spending weeks looking at all the options out there (and leaning towards makes and models twice the price) I am delighted I chose the BOSS ASPro. Most reviews will focus on all the features (and there are some good ones), but the thing that impressed me most was just the quality of the TONE of the thing. My two acoustics (Taylor 414Ce and Auden Chester) both sound amazingly authentic. What’s impressive about that is they are very different sounding guitars, and the Taylor is very tricky to make sound nice plugged in. Both sound exquisite - without much need to mess around with the dials. The three features I find most impressive? Tweeter cut off. Gets rid of the really high trebles that can sometimes make acoustics sound a bit harsh. Acoustic resonance (first setting of three). Difficult to describe - but definitely just makes the guitar sound natural. Looper. Nice to have one built in - I can literally lose myself for hours playing harmonies and melodies over chords. Quality of the looper is excellent (as you’d expect from BOSS), and despite what some reviews say, for jamming with yourself, 40 seconds is masses (try playing a chord sequence for 40 seconds...it’s longer than you think!). If I was a singer, I’d probably be raving about the vocal harmoniser.... but not my thing. Overall - wonderful tone and sound, some neat features, and in a small, super-solid, well made, elegant unit - that doesn’t look bad sitting in my living room. Plenty loud enough - and if you needed to, tons of options to output to a P.A. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

I use the Boss Acoustic Singer Pro for open mics and small gigs where I use a guitar and mic, nice and simple. Generally it’s a great piece of kit and providing the chords you are playing on the guitar are straightforward without complex or “jazzy” extensions then the vocal harmony will follow your voice exactly. If you’re doing more complex chords then this confuses the hell out of the analyser and yes, you get bum notes on the harmony. So I keep the harmony function to the rock / grunge type songs and then no problems. The reverb and delay on the vocals are excellent and the reverb and chorus effects on the guitar are more than adequate for anyone. There are some great features on the separate channels such as phase invert and notch filters to help eliminate feedback, very useful in the smaller rooms. The looper is a standard type operation but the loop function will need a separate pedal as this is not covered with the optional foot switch bank you can buy, this was a mistake in my opinion but I guess the Roland marketing dept saw the chance to sell the optional footwitch AND the single switches which is what I had to do. The only complaint on the looper is that it’s a bit short and you can’t even loop a decent blues cycle before it starts playback, 1 minute would have been more useful. But overall, yes, providing you’re aware it isn’t totally clever and remember about the less complex chords it’s an 8 / 10 product.

Worth the investment. I bought this as a Christmas present for our daughter. She is a great singer and a novice guitar player and recently started doing small local gigs with some friends. Its perfect for practice and loud enough for small gigs. The voice echo and harmony is amazing!! For a singer/guitar player it is the perfect package!!! So I bought one for myself as well. Great build and quality.
