KitchenAid Flat Beater Accessory for 4.5 Qt Tilt Head Stand Mixers, White

Great replacement!

I was worried that it might not fit for my mixer because I have had it several years but it works perfect!

I've had my Kitchenaid Ultra Power stand mixer for almost 19 years. It is a wonderful tool in the kitchen and I use it regularly. In the last year or so, I noticed that the coated flat beater was showing a little wear on the edge of the tip. I'd read numerous reviews on Amazon and Kitchenaid that said that the new beaters are not as durable, so I hesitated to buy a replacement. Finally, I did get a replacement from Amazon. I also adjusted my beater to bowl clearance with a regular screwdriver. If I had done this sooner, I probably wouldn't have had to replace the beater. So far, I have not had any problems whatsoever with the new beater - it works great! I am careful to not drop it on the counter or sink. I've kept the old beater just in case the new beater starts to disintegrate! My advice is to keep the manual that comes with the mixer, adjust the beater to bowl clearance, use the correct beater size for your mixer bowl and be careful with the beater.

The following review was written over 2 yrs ago. I don't think I even had this for 2 rs. before the bottom coating cracked/wore off once again. There is a newer beater out with rubber on the edges which works better, and will hopefully last longer. I gave it 5 stars, but I just bought it. It finally dawned on me that I could probably buy a replacement beater. Of course, Amazon is the first place I look for anything, because of the reviews; not to mention, not having to shop around to find the item in the first place! So actually, the 5 stars should go to Amazon! Anyway, my mother gave me her well used, beloved K.A. It was just to heavy anymore for a woman in her 80's. Thanks, Mom! Problem is, after many years, the coating became brittle and as previously described, wears out on the bottom and eventually cracks off into little pieces, not so good to find in your cake! I was pleased when my replacement arrived. (sooner than estimated) It seems to be ceramic over cast iron (like the stove burners) and made as well as they were originally. Which surprised me. Why I am writing: in response to previous reviews. If you don't want the ceramic coated get the one called burnished! It's all metal. Addendum, 2008 update, After not all that much use this too wore out on the bottom in about a year.

I did have to adjust the height of my KitchenAid to accommodate the larger beater. It wasn't by much - ¼ of a turn of the screw was all I needed. If anyone is wondering how to do that, there was a video on YouTube from a nice gentleman who repairs appliances. He threw a dime into the bottom of the bowl and then adjusted based on the movement of the dime. Worked like a dream for me. The dime should barely move with each pass of the beater. Other than that it feels the same as my original and thus far has been working fine. It's been used about 6 times for some thick batters and one attempt at making butter since purchase. BTW, the butter will turn out nicely, I lacked a way to cover the bowl so there wasn't splatter and I ended up squeezing it through cheesecloth, which didn't work all that great (it was leftover cream so why not try something instead of tossing it).

Great replacement for my original flat beater. My old one has started chipping, so I bought this one. I've read the reviews on a more expensive flat beater and decided I'd better stick with the same as before. A couple of reasons I chose the ceramic coated over the burnished beater were: 1. Less expensive 2. Made by Kitchen Aid 3. Dishwasher safe 4. Won't turn my light batter/dough dark From the reviews I read for the burnished flat beater, what most people complained about was the metal leaching into their batter. They could tell because if they let the batter sit a little while, dark spots began to show around the beater. Gross! Who wants a metallic-tasting cupcake?! Also, putting the metal beater into the dishwasher dulled the finish and made it ugly. This ceramic coated flat beater won't leach chemicals into your food and its dishwasher safe. It's also less expensive and made by the same company as my mixer. An easy choice after doing a little bit of research.

my wife is an avid baker. These are great. They work with the mixer well, and they scrape along the bottom of the bowl without issue. They feel heavy and strong. I love that after I lick it clean, I can toss it in the dishwasher. Great little mixing paddle.

Lo compré para reponer el original, mi batidora ya es de más de 10 años, el original se rasgó el plástico que lo cubre al no nivelar su altura con respecto al tazón, algo que debemos cuidar. Este nuevo es ligeramente más ancho, pero me funcionó perfecto. Mi batidora es de las que se enrosca el tazón a la base de la misma. Recomendable.

Kitchen aid parts are always expensive but they are strong, durable and do a good job.
