Excellent series of books
I purchased the Emperor series by Conn Iggulden because I enjoyed the five-book Ghengis Kahn series so much. Iggulden is a wonderful writer and story teller. When I finished the series, I wished he had written more volumes. Some reviewers complained that the author plays loosely with some facts. However, I chose to read a fiction book about the founding of Rome not a history book. I have read several biographies of Julius Caesar, but I wasn’t the least bit upset when the author didn’t follow the exact timeline or he didn’t mention every battle. If you enjoy historical fiction, You should definitely pick up this series. I can assure you that won’t want to put it down.

Emperor series draws one in!
I love historical fiction and I know history. Iggulden paints an authentic picture of the times and is very readable. I have finished the first book in the Emperor series and am well into the second. When dealing with such prominent figures as protagonists and taking their perspective Iggulden takes big chances, but with a little suspension of disbelief one can go along. He does take some liberties with historical facts, but most of those will not be noticed by the average reader and he does acknowledge them. I recommend the books for those who love historical fiction.

Great review of history!
The best thing I liked about the books was they were historical fiction, written in which a way that they captured your interest from the fist few pages. My wife, who is not much into history, loved them too! Only complaint, print in books was small so it made them a little harder to read. I would highly recommend the series, excellent writer!!!!

Can't get over Brutus
I bought it cause I utterly enjoyed his War of the Roses series. But Emperor...well, the fact that he made Brutus the son pf a whore and Caesar's same age just didn't cut it for me. And he also never explained why. Too bad.
