Three Little Cajun Pigs

Super cute!
I checked this book out at the library for my 6 year old twin granddaughters, they and I loved it so much I just had to purchase for our home library! This is a read aloud book to that age group and I'm sure my 3rd grade grandson will enjoy it as well, just haven't had him over yet to read it. Also have Petite Rouge (Little Red Ridinghood) by the same author Mike Artell, coming from Amazon soon and can't wait to read that one to them. Living in Florida, it's fun to have a gator instead of wolf come after the pigs. There is a page at the beginning of the book with definitions of the French Canjun words used in the book and it's fun to use the accent when reading it out loud. Love to have a collection of different Three Little Pigs Books. "The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig" by Eugene Trivizas is also a very cute book!

Thank you again, Mike Artell!
My daughter and I started off earlier this year with Artell's Petit Rouge Riding Hood. It became an instant favorite. Kind of cool to have a 3 y.o. that waves "adieu" and that knows what a pirogue is.So we grabbed this one and once again- it is too fun. If you like masking up voices for characters- do not miss Artell's work. My daughter was delighted that Claude the Gator was revisited for the story. (In fantastic illustration, as well as my funny voice for him.)I was happy to get another vocabulary lesson at the beginning of the book. And again- funny funny stuff. My favorite part about Artell's work is that you get better at it, the more you read it out loud. Well my kiddo is going to ask me to read this out loud about a million times, so I love that I could learn to do a recognizable Cajun accent from Artell's books!!Saaaaaaayyyy.... I don't suppose there's an author that has done this with a good Irish accent, too??For you enthusiastic readers- do not miss this one.

Great read-aloud for teachers
I discovered this book, a reworking of the classic Three Little Pigs but featuring a Cajun setting, while I was serving as a library media specialist in a K-12 school. My joy is to read-aloud to the very young, dramatizing the characters and teaching. Prior to the reading of this book, we used maps to locate France, Canada, Louisiana, and the Atlantic Ocean. I introduced unfamiliar vocabulary, and we talked about the regional food, music, and culture. These lessons are a good way to prepare for the Mardi Gras season.

Super fun book
This is one of our family’s most favorite books. We have worn ours out and had to replace it.

Good intro to Acadiana for kids
While it kinda charicarurizes us Cadiens, it's a great way to introduce my son to the culture as well as some light French vocabulary as we no longer live in Acadiana.

Teacher's all time favorite read-aloud title
I taught elementary school for 38 years, retired 3 years ago and am still subbing, and this is my students' all time favorite book to hear aloud, and is my favorite to read aloud. I am on my second copy. The familiar tale in the Cajun cadence and rhyme is just a natural read aloud joy; the little guide of French words in the preface that the kids need to "learn" to enjoy the book just adds to the fun (especially "derriere", which yields peals of giggles). I highly, highly recommend this book, and his other titles as well. Great fun!

Geaux Piggies
This is hysterical and absolutely amazing! My favorite by far retelling of the three little pigs. I bought it to read to our kids at a crawfish boil and man was it a hit! If you have no clue how cajun french works...dont try it. If you do, buy it, read it and absolutely laugh your head off.

Three Little Cajun Pigs
This is an excellent book as a wonderful adaptation of the classic fairy tale of the Three Little Pigs, set in a Cajun setting. My five year old girl loves it and caught on to the twist right away, as Claude the Alligator plays the Big, Bad, Wolf. Mike Artell did a great job!
