The Snowman & The Snowdog

Respectfully done and just as good
Its now become our favourite of the two. My daughter can't wait to see the sweet snow dog come to life and rocks to the music all the way through. I cried the first time I watched it, my daughter being two doesnt understand yet so it didnt phase her. The upseting bit is very brief and picks up again quickly after. We are a dog loving family and it hits close to home, having lived through the same scenario a few times now, heartbreaking. The ending is perfect and lovely. The animation is just like the original snowman and respectfully done by Hillery Audus again. I like how the texture of paper shows through . From now on we are going to build a snow dog too.

A Heartfelt Continuation, Worthy of the Original
As a child, The Snowman was a classic in our home. We wore that VHS out! Now as an adult, I've shared it with my children and they love The Snowman too.I was very surprised to learn of a sequel. We watched it, and I was skeptical... But it doesn't take long to see that its made in the same style and spirit as the original. It has just as much heart, sadness, joy, and wonder as the original. And it does well to tie in the events and characters of the first in a worthwhile meaningful way. My kids and I really enjoyed it. I would glady recommend it.

Beautiful addition to The Snowman collection.
The original film, "The Snowman" is a family treasure that I have enjoyed since childhood. My brother and I were thrilled when we found that a new movie had come out. The second film was artfully crafted and just as magical. I really enjoyed having The Snowman back in my living room once more, only this time as an adult (don't tell my brother I watched it without him). It's a modern day approach to the first edition. I did especially appreciate the extended footage with interviews from the original creator and author, Raymond Briggs, it gave a look into his life and why his stories are touching, yet heartbreaking.

So unbelievably cute
I've never come so close to crying at a movie before. It's a family tradition in our house to watch The Snowman (the original) at least once every holiday season, though it usually ends up being more like 3 or 4 times. We still love the original, but it was getting sort of stale after how many times we've watched it. My sister, I, and my parents both were thrilled when we found that a sort of sequel came out, and it restored that sense of excitement we all had when we watched The Snowman for the first time ~15 years ago. Really, truly well done, and so worth the price.

Charming and much asked for
Our two grandsons (ages 6 and 3) love this movie. They ask for it repeatedly. We've had it on our watchlist at least two years, maybe three. We love it, too. We first discovered The Snowman when my children were little and that is also well love and often asked for. Highly recommended.

wonderful follow-up to the original classic
Great follow-up, although "the making of..." piece that's an extra/bonus feature, is a fascinating insight into the original story. Its been our family tradition to watch the original for the past 15 years, and I know this will become an expansion of that for our kids (and future grandkids)>Beautiful.

Absolutely loved it!
Our 2 year-old was obsessed with Raymond Briggs, The Snowman, when we stumbled across this beautifully done sequel on Hulu Plus. He was immediately mesmerized and now two months later, still watches The Snowman & The Snowdog daily. It's one of the few things he enjoys doing while sitting quietly. This was not written by the original author, but is seamless with The Snowman. It will remain a classic in our household for many many years to come. In fact, we had our first big snow in 10 years and he couldn't wait to go outside and build his own snowman and snowdog!

NOTHING BUT MUSIC WITH ANIMATION
First of all, I am appalled seeing 5 star reviews. THIS VIDEO has NO ACTIVE talking at all for any characters. I did NOT buy the two videos to just look at animation and listen to music. When my grandson told me it was just music; I told him we will try the DVD on my home DVD player. IT HAS NO TALKING words! No where in the description did it say it is JUST ANIMATION AND MUSIC and that NOBODY TALKS at all. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY.

No problems with the disc
I bought this for the lack of adverts, as recording it off air plonks an ad break in the middle, disrupting the flow of the story. Some people bemoan the song when the tlying sequence gets going, but I rather like it, and up goes the volume. The sound is a bit thin, though until the chellos ome in and it beefs-up nicely. It is a different song for the return journey, and this isn't bad either.I'm happy with my purchase of this DVD. Yes, I'd have liked the HD version but cost played apart, and the quality of DVD is (normally) far higher than SD TV, so the disc is nicely watchable on my 55" TV at a distance of about three metres/ten feet.

Super

Beautiful story, visually and musically
Beautiful story, visually and musically, although the feature song wasn't quite up to the much-loved feature song of the first movie, "The Snowman." Nice to have a quiet movie for the holiday season that the whole family can appreciate. Although our 6 year old was disappointed that our snow over Yule wasn't sticky enough for her to build her own snowman and snowdog, we now have a new holiday favorite.
