Methods Of Real Analysis (Pb 2020)

This book will be useful for a very long term if you are serious in mathematics or a Mathematics student. The author thinks the reader is smart, so he left some places for the reader to think and solve. Not good for people who wants to be spoon fed.

Good material but old edition. Lot of difference in content in the book & 2nd edition. Examples and exercises are different in both. The contents in introduction differ. Chapter 1 has lot of diagrams missing. Content list has missing topics in chapter - 3.12, 5.7, 6.9, 10.5, 12.7, appendix which are found in 2nd edition which was viewed in eBook.Print quality fair with different font size. Not soothing for eyes while reading.

Book Methods of Real Analysis by Richard GoldbergThis review is about content of book, and the product, but not about Amazon's service (which is good, we know).The content of the book is very good. Around 10-15 years back, I didn't like the writing style. But after some maturity, I realized that the way of writing such a book is excellent. Exercises are not 'so-many' but are very selected and very interesting, useful ones to know up-and-downs of theory explained in the small section.Now about printing: the Indian edition is very badly printed. Printing quality is of local newspaper of very small Indian city or town. In recently purchased copy (from Amazon), I saw not so good printing on some pages, see images (This is not a fault of Amazon).Most bad thing I saw is that, the earlier cover of book was Green-Yellow; the new cover seem different; however, this edition is too old. The second edition of book has been printed in 1976 (search online), and it is of around 400+ pages, whereas, the above Indian edition is of 360+ pages. Some new chapters are not in the Indian edition. 40 years passed away from second original edition. (In the product information, number of pages is not mentioned.)

An excellent book for a beginner to learn the basic essentials of real analysis ( the theory of calculus ) and Lebesgue Integration. The author provides an excellent and well-thought-out exposition of the subject matter from the very basic analysis of sequences to Riemann integral and ending with glimpse of the Lebesgue integral. It is one of he very best books for its level
