Hi! Does it ship tuned or do the customer have to tune it?

No tuning required! It is a metal drum with pre-cast indentations that are already tuned at A 440. I use Apple Logic to create all of my tracks for drums, bass and synths, then record with the hand pan drum and it sounds perfect. It is tuned to D minor or F. There are seven notes because the D in the AR repeated octaves giving you a total of nine notes. It’s a great drum for what it’s worth.
