The Spirit sneaker from Keds has got it covered when it comes to comfort and a laid-back style. This durable shoe features padded linings, a sturdy lace-up design, and full traction for your on-the-go lifestyle. The classic design is perfect for every day, as it looks great with jeans. In 1916, the Keds brand was introduced by the U.S. Rubber Company as the first national athletic and lifestyle footwear brand. At this time, the shoes were called sneakers, a term invented in late 1916 because the rubber soles made the shoes quiet. Worn by Olympic soccer players, scores of National and International tennis champions, and many college athletes, Keds was coined the shoe of champions because of its reputation as America's premier athletic brand. Not only was Keds a leading athletic brand, it was also the brand of choice for leading style icons due to its classic, stylish, and authentic characteristics.

COMFY STRETCHY LEATHER; MINIMAL CUSHIONING; RUNS A BIT LONG
Nice, lightweight sneakers - could do with more cushioning or a better insole. Here are the Pros and Cons - hopefuly this will assist some of you:PROS* Nice stretchy, soft leather - no blisters at all! That is actually important as it is not that easy to find soft leather shoes which are comfortable and don't need 'breaking in'.* Good width - ordered the C/D and they were great, true to width. Appropriate toe room, too.* Light in weight - a plus.* Amazon's service and shipping was great (as usual). Thank you.CONS* Run a little long: they run somewhat longer than other shoes I have in the same size (not Keds - so perhaps it is the normal Keds' sizing?). It feels half a size longer.* Cushioning/arch support - totally lacking. From reading some older, pervious reviews, it seems that Keds used to have these sneakers with proper cushioning and arch support, however, lately decided to highly compromise on both (maybe since they moved their production to China?)... that is a real pity as they suppose to be comfort shoes.I walked with them first as they are, without adding any additional insoles, and my feet got truly sore. So extra insloes (for cushioning and arch support) are a must for those with sensitive feet.* Shoe laces - a little too basic/cheap, I would expect a nicer/fancier/better quality ones - but that is not a big deal and it might just be me...* Color (for the 'Stone' ones) - a bit different than the Amazon imageOn the whole, they could be excellent comfort shoes if only Keds had put some extra effort into cushioning and some final touches - something I did expect reading their description.

Not the same fit as previously.
I've been wearing this model and size of keds in wide width for fifteen years and they always fit right out of the box until now. Currently I have a very old pair for gardening, a pair I wear to the store and around, and this new pair. I've rotated them this way for many years. My foot is wide and my instep is very high. The length and width appear to be the same as the older ones - but the instep is so tight even after completely removing the laces I cannot get my foot in it. On the tongue label, the new pair has one number different in the model number, and it says "Made in Viet Nam" instead of "Made in China". They appear to be identical in every way except for a different pattern on the material on the insole and especially, the way they fit.Wish I could still rely on my favorite sneaks but these are painful. I will return these. Very disappointing after all these years of relying on Keds.

Shoe has changed and is no longer comfortable
These shoes have changed. This is my third pair--I loved (and wore out) the first two pair, so bought these and took them on a trip, thinking they would fit the same. They don't. The ridge around the top of the shoe (sides and back) is so stiff that it bruised my ankles; by day two, I couldn't even put them on without pain. The overall shoe is slightly shorter than it used to be--not a lot, but just enough that my toes pressed against the inside and went numb. There is also a slight change to the design at the back of the heel. An observer might look at the old and new side by side and think they look the same, but to somebody who's been wearing this style for years, I can CERTAINLY feel the difference. I don't know if this has anything thing to do with it, but my second pair was made in China; this latest pair was made in Viet Nam. My advice: order a half-size up and wear them a while to make sure they'll be comfortable for travel.

Fabulous! Comfortable to wear all day.
I absolutely love these sneakers. I am a die hard Keds fan from way back. Usually buy a new pair of the plain white canvas Keds every summer. These caught my eye when I saw them in a store. I usually wear a 9 or 9.5. I ordered both and returned the 9.5. They run just a *tad* big. The 9 fits with tennis socks on. They are the most comfortable sneakers I've ever had, bar none. Wearing a larger size, I'm always looking for something low profile, otherwise my feet look huge in typical running shoes. These are just the ticket. My only gripe is that I had been wearing them only a day or two and the little plastic thing at the end of the shoelace went missing, so the shoelace is unraveling. I just need to get some new laces, but it would have been nice if it lasted more than 2 days. I am thinking of ordering a few more pairs of these just to put on my shelf for the future. I hate when you find something you love, that fits, and then it is discontinued. These sneakers are keepers for sure!

Good buy, Not leather, Is worth the money
Thanks to all other reviews. They were helpful. The fit is a bit long, maybe a half size but as I have feet with different lengths, this is a good thing for me. Thank you to the reviewer who said the beige ran a bit longer than the white. That helped me select beige..Regarding the material. No, it is not leather. Frankly anybody thinking you can get a pair of real leather adult sneakers for $29.95 is way out of touch. For leather, think in termsof $90. +. They are a synthetic. Don't believe-smell them. The insole in not removable and I cannot use my orthotic in them. So why four stars? Very simply, for the amount of money, the very fast shipping and the attractiveness of the shoe, this is a really good buy. The seams coming down the middle make for a good looking shoe and a lot of comfort for bunions and other foot problems. Just be aware that you get what you pay for so be realistic. And if you don't like them, send them back. Amazon's returns are simple and fast.

Buyer beware.
I based my purchase on other's reviews. I was very disappointed when I got these shoes yesterday. The description states they are leather. They are not. The coloring of the "stone" option is not what they show in the picture. It is not brown, it's gray. The coloring for the shoes appears to be painted on. There are several spots on the shoe when I took them out of the box where you could see white instead of stone. They appear to be cheaply made. I ordered a C/D width, and ended up with a regular width. I didn't even try them on. I'm very disappointed with these shoes, and Keds. These shoes are going back, and I'm not purchasing from this seller again.
