My Kenmore Laundry Center lost the heater. Found the deal here!
I knew it was a tough job to change the heater element. When I got to looking at my model online I didn't see a replacement coil... no at first all i could find was the complete metal disc that holds the heater in place and they were around $160.. kept looking and found a few generic ones for $60-$80. Still way more than I felt like it should be.I finally found the re-string element kits and i ordered one with fingers crossed. It's been going a few weeks now and absolutely no problems. You can do this yourself if you're a handy kind of guy.Unbelievable price and Prime Shipping was great, I think it was under $15 shipped. Thanks guys!RR

Easier than I thought....
Clothes dryer wasn't drying and the timer/ mode knob wasn't moving. Read about possible fixes - timer, heating element coil, blower; etc. The heating element was the cheapest fix. Looked at videos on how to take apart the dryer. Looked pretty simple and it was. Took at drum to expose the existing heating element and it was broken at one of the coils. Took out and replaced with the new heating element. The hardest part was getting the coil spaced out properly. I kept on altering until I got it to look even all the way around. Put dryer together and ran dryer. It worked!FYI - However, one of the steps in disassembling the dryer was removing the drum. On my Frigidaire Gallery dryer, you have to remove the belt on the spring tension roller (it holds the belt and helps spins the belt). I had to push the spring assemble to remove the belt so I could remove the drum to expose the heating element oil. In pushing it, I guess I loosened the assembly arm from the the bolt pivot. In assembly after installing the heating element, I did everything in reverse, putting the belt back in the spring roller and closing up the dryer housing. I ran it once to see about the heat. Turned off after it worked and tossed some wet clothes into it and ran again. I heard a loud 'clunk' and then a horrible sound like something was spinning/ grinding. Shut it off and raised the dryer top. Notice the belt was loose. Pulled dryer out again and looked at the spring assembly...it had come off the bolt. So I put back together, aligned the belt and tightened and straightened out the belt (I had marked the location of the belt on the drum with a marker the first time) and tightened the bolt on the pivot. I think the first time, I put the belt back around the drum, I remember the belt would stray from the marked lines I put before disassembly and I rolled the dryer drum manually to straighten the belt. It kept moving, I got it close the and I thought it would naturally move back into alignment once on. I must have pulled the tension arm back when spinning fast during operation. When I fixed that problem, I made sure to take extra time to align the belt. Spun the drum by hand and it stayed in the position I marked which was in line with the roller and tension arm assembly. It has worked fine ever since.

Wont last
I have purchased two of these. The first lasted 2 weeks the second lasted 4 weeks. I thought the first was due to my poor installation because it is hard to install so I got a second one. The second one was just as difficult to install as the first but it tried my best to get it just right. This coil is very easily stretched out of shape while connection to the insulating mounts. Both failed in the same manner, shattering into many tiny circles of wire. The second failure also to out the dryer's thermal sensor. I think the coil gets too hot. The wire coil is very thin compared to another OEM part I final purchased. Save your time a buy a true OEM part.
