Bought for all-day use, so far so good
I work from home, and recently decided to upgrade my chair to something with more ergonomic features. I got this chair primarily for the back support as well as the ability to adjust 3 different ergonomic settings: the seat's forward angle, the back's forward angle, and the seat's height from the ground. In this regard, the chair is great. You are able to lock the chair into essentially the perfect position for your body, which was important to me. When the back's adjust lever is locked down, the back does not give at all. It's locked in place. This was a crucial element for me because it provides the back support I need when sitting long hours. This chair delivers that in spades, and so for that alone it was worth the money for me. In terms of the chair's comfort and quality, I would rate it average. It doesn't seem to be made of cheap materials, and everything feels solid once assembled. The mesh seat cover and back are quality and don't feel cheap or like they are likely to tear. One aspect that isn't so great is the wheels. I HIGHLY recommend you also purchase a set of rollerblade wheels for office chairs. This is one of the biggest upgrades you can make to any chair, and solves the problem of this chair's subpar wheels. A set of 6 can be had here on Amazon for under $20 as of this writing. I have only had this chair for a few days, so I will update this review as time passes and comment on quality over time. EDIT: 1-Week Update: Vast improvement over my previous chair. The ability to lock the back in place is crucial for me and this chair has been a delight over the past week. The chair is extremely comfortable for me even after a long work day, sitting for 8+ hours. If it holds up like this for a long duration I will be very pleased with my purchase. EDIT: 6-Week Update: I continue to be impressed and satisfied with this chair. No squeaks, it's not loose anywhere, and the back support is still as strong as the day I put it together. Will update later this year to speak to quality longevity. EDIT: 4-Month Update: I love this chair. It's still just as solid as the day it was put together, and it's so comfortable. This chair has actually spared me a lot of back pain when compared to my previous work from home chair. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for the features I described above. EDIT: 6-Month Update: Still a great chair. There was a little bit of creaking noise, so I got the allen wrench which came with the chair (I always tape mine to the bottom of the seat) and tightened everything up. Now it's like it was new again. I'll update in another year or so. EDIT: 1-Year Update: The chair is still holding up just fine. I am sitting in it as I write this and it's just as sturdy-feeling as the day I got it. At this point I have put something like 3,000 hours of use into the chair (that's about $0.04 per hour at the current price, for the nerds), so I think the fact that it still feels mostly new is a pretty good testament to the overall quality. I have continued to periodically tighten bolts, but this is the minimum maintenance for any long-term furniture. I have to say, this was a great purchase. I have changed my review from 4 stars to 5 given it has held up in this condition as long as it has. EDIT: 1.5 Year Update: I have moved on to another chair, but I will always remember the time we shared together. The chair is still going strong, I just upgraded to an even nicer one. This chair has now been given to someone else and I'm sure it's going to get years more use.

A lot of chair for the money
Update on 9/04/2018 It's been about 14 months now and it's still as great as day 1. No problems. So far (it's been 3 days since assembling and using) I am very pleased with the chair. At first I thought I got a box that had already been opened because the parts were not packed very snugly and I couldn't find the directions to begin with to check that I had all the contents. Checked the hardware box, then finally found the directions underneath the seat cushion. Turns out everything was there and no parts appeared to be damaged. The directions leave a little to be desired - for instance the orientation of the arm rests, which are slightly different in front and back, were not identified in the instructions at all - so I just picked what I thought would work best. Other than that, it was very simple assembly. The biggest question was how much to torque the screws in that hold the arm rests. You can't rock back and forth in this chair, but that's not what I want when sitting at a desk working on the computer. Finally I have some lumbar and back support unlike other cheap chairs that have the back at a permanent lean backwards. This is not a $1,000 ergonomic, fully adjustable chair, but it does get much of the way there. The rollers are very smooth, even on carpet (low pile). Some people complained about the arm rests being flimsy and getting loose or breaking off. Yeah, well if you use them to do pushups on and put all your 300 lbs on them when getting up, well, yeah, they might just snap off - so don't do that. I use the arm rests to rest my arms. All in all I am very pleased with the purchase, but it is early yet. Hopefully I'll remember to come back and adjust this review if there are any major issues. The seat cushion is very comfortable and the mesh is very nice for breathability. The adjustments seem to work very well and seem quite sturdy.

Good chair
I've purchased this chair twice before - once in 2017 and once in 2021 - and I'm ordering it again now in 2025. It falls apart on me after 4 years use. Eventually the armrests crack and the height adjustment won't stay locked - it sinks down gradually until it's at its lowest possible point. Why, then, am I buying it again? Because, when it's working properly, it is the most comfortable chair I've ever owned. I've not found another chair where the tilt of the seat and the back can be adjusted independently. The armrests can be adjusted to the perfect height for me. The seat cushioning is nice. I use this chair a lot - I work from home and spend 10 to 12 hours a day at the computer, so I need to be comfortable. I've tried other, more expensive chairs, and none of them can be adjusted to fit my body like this one. If it only lasted longer, I'd consider it perfect.

Incredible value at this price point
I used this chair for about 7 years before finally needing to replace it. At this price point, I think you would be hard pressed to find something better. There are multiple adjustable parts to this chair - you can move the arm rests up and down, set and lock the backrest, move the seat itself up and down, and even tilt the seat forwards and backwards. Most chairs that are twice the price of this one are lacking one or more of those adjustable features. Additionally, the seat cushion itself is thick and comfortable as opposed to the thin mesh that a lot of more expensive office chairs use. The seat is plenty wide enough as well so that you won't feel restricted while sitting and it's heavy and solidly built. Like I said, I used this chair for 7 years and many thousands of hours of work/gaming/etc. so clearly it is quite durable. The only negatives to this chair are that eventually (after 4 or 5 years) it started to creak a bit and also the arm rests eventually started to rip which is why I'm finally replacing the chair. The arm rests are a sort of hard foam material, so over time I feel like it's inevitable that they will rip and fail. All in all though, for this price, you probably won't find a much better chair. I actually just ordered a new one since I experimented with a few others that were much more expensive yet were lacking in the adjustable features and simply weren't as plush and comfortable as this one. I'm hoping the new one will also last me for years to come.

It was great until it was time to use my warranty
I purchased this chair exactly 30 Oct 2021. As of writing this review, it is still under warranty. The chair arrived and the instructions to assemble it were pretty straight forward. They provided everything you needed to assemble the chair. It took about 45 minutes to assemble it. The chair was sturdy and comfortable. I used it regularly at a fixed height for remote work. This chair was a recommended purchase from the company I work with and the main catch was it's ergonomics and reliability. I actually recommended this chair to other employees of my company, friends, and was looking at purchasing them to replace my parents' older chairs. However, due to recent circumstances, I just let my company know that their recommendation has let me down and I have recanted my suggestions to those I have recommended the chair too. I will not be buying Modway chairs for my parents. Now, 15 days prior to the warranty expiration, I noticed when I leaned back in the chair it started making a loud crunch, grinding, pop noise. I wasn't sure what it was because the overall functionality of the chair was not hindered. I noted it and began looking for the warranty information on Amazon which I could not locate. Then recently, I was in a remote meeting and when I sat back the chair made the noise and a lot of people in my meeting commented on the noise. I was surprised the noise could be heard. One co-worker told me about how they had an experience were the stem of the chair grinded and snapped off at the base and they fell face forward into their desk, knocked unconscious, and had to get medical attention for a concussion and lacerations. They thought that it was a Modway chair but could not remember. They recommended I replace the chair. Later that evening I checked my chair and found that it was leaning to the left and on further inspection discovered the armrest was split. I reached out to the company, sent my information, and pictures. I found it was still under warranty and when I requested a claim for repair/replacement I was told. "After careful consideration we must inform you that we are unable to accommodate your request for a replacement. The photos you have provided and the length of time you have owned the item support our decision to deny this claim for "wear and tear". Kindly note that Modway products are not warranted against regular wear and tear, nor are said to be of fitness for a particular use." What does that mean? That means they basically shifted the risk of unfitness back to me. I replied letting them know that I will be leaving a negative review on their chair as well as telling my company about the potential dangers/risks the Modway chair offers to employees. I am now looking at a replacement and have already dropped my chair off at the local dump. Summary: Was the chair easy to assemble: Yes Was it comfortable: Yes Would I recommend this chair: I did until the recent events. Safety and warranties play a part in all the things I buy, Is this chair a potential hazard: Yes Does the company stand by their warranty: In my case they did not. They denied my claim as normal wear and tear. I honestly wished I'd spent $400 on the "SecretLab" chair my sister and brother-in-law recommended to me. They both bought theirs four months before my purchase. My sister loved it so much she purchased another a few months after her sewing room. Their chairs are still working and in great condition. They have a 2-5 year warranty.

Small, not supportive, and seat back shifts
The chair isn't very comfortable for a number of reasons. The chair back: The chair back doesn't raise up high enough. I'm 6ft tall and the back of the chair does not provide enough back support. At its highest it comes up just to the bottom of my shoulder blades. And unfortunately it does not stay at its highest. There is a knob on the side of the chair back that is supposed to lock it in place. No matter how tight you turn that knob the back of the chair tends to slowly go down to the lower setting (drops towards the seat of the chair and resemble what you see in the photo). So, it goes from already being low on my back to being even lower. Seat: The seat is comfortable, but the material is a slick material. So, while I'm sitting up my butt starts to slide towards the front putting me in a non-ergonomic position. This isn't nearly as bad, but when the seat back doesn't provide support, the slide is exasperated. Quality: Other than the issue where the seat back slides down, the quality isn't that bad. All the other parts seem to be holding up. But with the back slipping it takes a slight hit on quality. Assembly: It was very easy to put together. Don't recall there being any issues or confusing aspects of putting it together. Additional: There seems to be additional screws for a lumbar support which could beneficial....again pending the back of the chair is in a decent supportive position

You can't beat it under $200
Short review: I last bought this chair here on Amazon in September of 2018. Now that it is showing wear, I figured something better must exist by now. After trying multiple options, going to box store after box store, I am replacing this chair with the same model in July 2024. Enough said. Long review: I sit at a desk. A LOT. It may actually be the thing I do most with my body these days, even beating sleeping. I work a desk job. I am a PC gamer. I like programming and researching and 3D modeling and editing videos and other desk tasks. Heck, I operate two desks in my home - one for work and one for play. All this to say, I can't own a trash chair. Mediocre chairs? Maybe. While we're on the topic of me: I am a 5'11" 175lbs male. I like to move around in my chair, from normal posture all the way to cross legged and everything in between. Anyways, back to the chair - I bought my first iteration while I was in college. It was on the cheaper side but looked to have a healthy amount of features. I liked a mesh back but wanted a proper cushioned seat. That alone limits things quite a bit. I liked other things about it but at the time didn't fully appreciate them like I do now - I'll come back to them later. I used this chair quite a bit during college and quite liked it. However, come end of 2019, I noticed the arms were splitting. Thankfully there are replacements available even here on Amazon (Search for "Office Chair Arm Rest Replacement Fits All Styles of Arms with Mounting Hole Patterns Screws Set Desk Armrest Cover"). This is the one thing I can knock this chair on, but I put quite a bit of weight on the armrests as I shift around, picking myself up by them. They break because of the material they are made of is relatively soft, which is desirable so that my elbows don't hurt. So, I call this a necessary wear item, like tires on my car. I would replace the arms one more time in 2022, and then again in 2024 when I replaced the whole chair. I started trying other chairs when COVID hit, ~2020. I went from full in-office work to full at-home work, and needed extra desk space. The first chair I tried was trash, I had to buy cushions and all kinds of stuff to make it comfortable. The second chair I tried was okay but quickly wore out. The third chair I tried I still own, it's okay. I've learned a few things through trying all these chairs, but this pattern showed me that I got really lucky when I bought my first chair in college. Office chairs are hard to return - while companies design the components to go into a relatively small box, they don't design all the components to easily come back apart. Fast forward to a couple months ago and back to this chair in question. I noticed that the fabric in the seat was starting to wear - that was happening for a while but now I had worn through it on one side where I sit semi-cross legged (as I'm sitting while typing this) and the side of my shoe digs into the chair. Fabric was gone and the foam inside was exposed, and I was starting to wear a small hole into it. I keep this chair in a room no one sees and so I can get away with some wear, but this was too much. I did a lot of research to find another chair. I watched all the youtube videos about the expensive chairs (which the youtubers obviously get paid to shill), I went to office supply stores and sat in every miserable chair with inflated price tags, I was dejected. However, I remembered that I had success before, so I figured I would try again. I found one here on Amazon with good reviews and ordered it. It was horrible and I was furious. "Why is it so hard to find a good office chair? Why do people have such trash expectations for their chairs? Chairs are not complicated, I should not have to spend half a grand to get a decent chair! If only I had the foresight back when I bought my original chair, I would have bought two and"... and then the thought hit me. Was my chair still available after all these years? Obviously it was. In my joyous fury I malicious-compliance style stuffed the horrible chair back into its box (which could not contain it but I did not care - that's the manufacturer's fault) and promptly returned it to order another one of these. Ladies and gentlemen, after assembling it today, I am happy to report that it has not changed one bit! Oh I cannot tell you how happy I am right now to be seated on this chair. It's such a nice chair, it's my old chair, but it feels brand new, because it is both of those things. Anyways, let me talk about a few other features - reclining options on this are great, you can recline both the back and the seat, independently. What's more is you can recline it and then lock it in at any position you want - so I recline the seat back a little bit and lock it in, and then let the back be on free-recline mode. This feature is wonderful and you won't find it on (m)any chairs at this price point. The arm rests and the back are height-adjustable. I leave the arm rests at their min setting, and the back just above min. As you bring the back up/down, it adjusts where your lumbar is positioned, and there is a very wide range. Also, the seat - its' quite thick, a good balance between firm/soft. The curved overlapping end helps your legs smoothly depart from it towards the floor. Finally, this seat has a wide range of height adjustability, able to get quite high if you need it. Anyways, I live in an apartment, so I don't have the space to store a spare, but if I did I would totally be ordering one. I'm half tempted to replace my "okay" office desk chair with another copy... We'll see.

acceptable for 5' tall adult
I just got the chair assembled and I am very happy so far. The chair was packaged well. Relatively easy to assemble by myself - took about 15 - 20 minutes. Unlike other smaller desk chairs, the height on this chair starts off at a higher point. This chair would not be good for a smaller child. At the lowest setting, my feet touch the floor, but this is not the case (for me) on the higher setting. The depth of the cushion is comfortable for my smaller frame as well. Sitting all the way back, I still have a couple of inches between my inner knee and the edge of the seat. The back support seems good. It hits the right spot. I normally don't use armrests, so I may end up taking them off eventually. I can only use them at the lower setting, but they make it harder to access the control levers. The seat cushion tilt is fine for me at the default setting, so I have not experienced any problems with adjustments (as others have stated). The mesh fabric on the seat is a bit scratchy and might be irritating on bare skin. I have not experienced any squeaking, as others have commented. I imagine a little oil should fix that problem if it arises. I replaced the wheels with the roller blade style casters. This adds a little bit of height, but they are smoother on my laminate wood floor. So far, I am very happy with the chair. I will update if necessary.

Mala calidad.

Super Comfortable
I wasn't about purchasing this Chair given that I haven't physically tried it... but I have to say this has been a very pleasant surprise. Assembling the chair was straight forward, quality of parts is impressive and the overall comfort is exactly what you would expect from a high end desk Chair.

Good quality, easy assembly.
This chair has a number of adjustments and I found a comfortable position within 4 or 5 tries. It was well packaged and easy to assemble. Overall, I think it is a very good chair for the price.
