A (small) classic
I'm a huge Belloc fan and bought this as a gift for a friend who just had a child. It is a classic, something every child should own. My only caution against this edition is that it is very, very small. If you need a travel edition of Belloc, then this is for you. Otherwise I'd recommend a lager version. So, content gets 5 stars, but this particular edition is a little lacking.

Warped and wonderful
I grew up with these verses. My paternal grandparents had a volume of them in their library. Even today I can quote almost all of "Matilda, who told lies and was burned to death" without prompting. I loved them as a child, and now as a senior adult, they still resonate with me. I don't particularly mind the small size of this book, but I have deducted one star because most of the original illustrations I recall from the original book are missing from this edition.

Great poems
I really was looking for "John who threw stones" which is missing from this little book. Also I didn't expect the book to be so tiny !

But Where is John Vavasoeur de Quentin Jones?
I was raised on these lovely tales and other verses by Hilaire Belloc. My favorite of all the Cautionary Verses is 'John Vavasoeur de Quentin Jones' (who was very fond of throwing stones). It is not included in this book and is quite hard to find. Perhaps there is a copyright problem I don't know.

A childhood favorite revisited
I always loved these verses so when I came across a friend who hadn't read them I bought it. However be aware this is a tiny book and not as well illustrated as the Penguin classic. Still worth having though. No child should reach adulthood without learning of the fates suffered by the foolish ones.

Not for me!
My fault. I shouldn't have ordered it. Made a poor selection. Thought it would be fun for children, but discovered definitely was not..

Terrible binding quality, falls apart, and very small book..
Perhaps the small (tiny) size of this book was indicated in the information on Amazon, but I definitely didn't see it.But the "larger" problem is that the quality of the binding it absolutely terrible, the book falls apart/pages fall out, and it has hardly been used.

VERY TINY mini book
Um, why is it that nowhere in the description it states this book is tiny? I guess I should've known since the dimensions are .1x.1x.1, but I assumed it was a mistake. Ugh. Unless you are looking for a version fit for a hamster, don't buy this.

Full of misprints and badly scanned.
A useless copy, intended as a present, but I would not have kept it for myself. It's now returned to publisher.

Poor Quality
Missing text from pages 44, 46 and 68, the introduction and page 20 not centred text clipped. The publishers have economised by not employing a proof reader, I'm sure there are other faultsbut I gave up after 70 pages.
