Whats old is New!
I purchased three of these books for our grown married daughters ages 25-32 and they love them. The book is not only well written but is also a great instruction manual for things like sewing on a button.....The book contains great advice that girls should just know when they grow up like how to make a garden and but up foods.I am 54 years old and I never wanted to do a garden until 5 years ago, so I think this book will help them through different things they may want to conquer as they get older. This book makes a perfect wedding shower gift a wealth of knowledge for a reasonable price.

what a good little book!
I saw this book and had to give it a try. I am so glad I did! My girls often ask me how we did things when we were kids, like live without computers and cell phones, etc. and when they ask about how the grandparents did things when they were kids, well, it gets interesting. I often wondered how the kids of today would get by without all the technology, so when I saw this book, it was a logical choice to purchase it. It is filled with useful information for all young women of today. I think it's a gem of a book, and recommend it highly.

Fun
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this little gem. It is a nice book basically bringing you back to an era that I find more and more of us feel we've missed out on. I like to pick it up when I have about 15 mins of "me" time and read a chapter. I've found some cool tips and honestly think this is a great addition to your library if you are looking for a way to be a bit more simplistic

It never stays on the shelf.
I bought this book after checking it out from the library. You can't begin to imagine how much is covered in this handy little book. Unless you checked the Amazon preview; then you have a very good idea what's in this book. That alone is reason enough to buy it.I can't accurately describe the writing, but I can give an example:How to Make a Budget: "Calculate your grand total [(3 months' expenses x4) + once-a-year expenses]. Yell ai-ooooga! And then put your eyeballs back in your head."Humor aside, the book is filled with solid information. If Julia's Kitchen Wisdom: Essential Techniques and Recipes from a Lifetime of Cooking By Julia Child is my go-to guide in the kitchen, How to Sew a Button: And Other Nifty Things Your Grandmother Knew is my go-to guide for (nearly) everything else.

Grandmotherly advice
The perfect gift for your grandaughter(s) as she/they go off to college or out into the world. Read the whole book before giving it out. Practical - humorous - learned a few things myself. Full of life-lessons not just aimed at "how-tos" like sewing a button. Good icebreaker for more serious conversations. Parents enjoyed it too. So glad Erin Bried came up with the idea. Thanks LDP54

Has great knowledge about the past.
I thought it was hand sewing. Learning the stitches. Received it a day late so I couldn't return it. Need a refund.

Great and practical advice for all ages.
I loved this book. I'm in my 50's and I never knew how to folda fitted sheet or clean an oven without toxic oven cleaner. I boughta copy for my daughter and she's called me several times to mention howmuch she's enjoying the book and all she's learned from it - includinghow to cook a roast, hem pants, etc. This book is the perfect gift fora high school or college graduate, getting ready to go out on her own.My daughter and I both highly recommend it. It's definitely a bargain forthe price.

Thee dying art of being a woman who can do things
This book is for anyone who needs info on daily problems. Going back to basics and not being so dependent on ready made things and becoming resourceful with what we have. I have lived this way my entire life and I am no hippy. Great read. Funny too. These ladies who were the source for this book were tough but funny.

How to Sew a Button
It's okay, but not the best book for what I was looking for.

How to Fold a Fitted Sheet
It was worth the price of the book to learn how to do that!

Good little read full of quick tips
I like this book. The style in which it is written makes it an easy read. Full of take away tips on everything from cooking to personal care. Something to pass along to your children (girls and boys) though the book has a female slant to it.
