Danny Dragonbreath and his best friend Wendell thought the hot dog from the school cafeteria looked a little . . . off. Then things got weird when the hot dog bit Wendell, and weirder still when Wendell started to sprout back hair. Could Wendell be morphing into a . . . ( cue ominous music ) were-wiener? All evidence points to yes. And unless he and Danny can get past the lunch ladies and slay the alpha-wurst, the whole school could be infected. Written in Ursula Vernon's trademark hybrid style of comic-book panels and text, this is the thrilling third book in the series. In a starred review, Kirkus Reviews said Dragonbreath "will leave readers in stiches- and on tenterhooks waiting for the next one." Curse of the Were-Wiener will make kids everywhere laugh, shriek, and take a closer look at their lunches. Perfect for fans of Wimpy Kid and Bad Kitty . Review: More Great Dragonbreath! - Another very entertaining story in the Dragonbreath series. After Wendell is bitten by a hot dog, Danny and Wendell must find a way to take down the alpha wurst and save the school (not to mention Wendell!) from becoming its minions. Ursula's trademark "quirkiness" is in full force here. ("Do you ever worry that your childhood is warping you in some fashion?" "Are you kidding? I'm counting on it.") Kids will love the cute story and interleaved comic book illustrations, and there are plenty of little tidbits thrown in for the grown ups. (Anyone book that can throw in the line "Joseph Campbell is spinning in his grave" and have it be apropos is totally awsome!) I think the storytelling is a notch higher in this book than in previous books. With his best friend's life on the line, Danny's adventure has a bit more gravity and a bit less whimsy to it. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to anyone who would enjoy a bit of intelligent silliness. ("Periodic Table Bandages: Puts The Pain Back In Learning") Review: "Dragonbreath Rocks!", said the 8 yr old boy - Our 8 yr old son LOVED the Dragon Breath series because they make him "Laugh his head off!". He has read every book in the series, a few of them in a day. When asked why he likes these books he said "Because they have good characters, are funny, adventurous, and the story lines are crazy - crazy AWESOME!". All of theses things make this book and the others in the series incredibly interesting to a kiddo who enjoys funny adventures. As a parent I appreciate that they are funny without being totally stupid and that they are easy to read without being "dumbed down". I would say the reading level is higher than Big Nate but not as high as say Harry Potter. These are great transition books for readers who need a bit more of a challenge. However they are also great for more advanced readers who just want to read a great story about an amazing adventure. Overall a great series and I would highly recommend for the 8-9 yr old set.

A little scary
The series is getting a little scary for a seven year old. But itโs still still a very funny story.

Eleven Year Old Boy Really Enjoyed Reading This Book
I am constantly looking for books that will keep my eleven year old son entertained. He really loved the Diary of a Whimpy Kid books so when I purchased these books I was looking for a series of fun and entertaining books for him to read this summer. Well needless to say; these books were so entertaining that my son has read the entire series in less than a week. If you have a son or daughter ages 9-12 they are sure to really enjoy this series. The DragonBreath series is cute and very entertaining. The books have some pictures which my son really enjoyed looking at. I highly recommend this series especially for boys and girls that are into the Wizard 101 internet games.

Great series
This is a comedy book. I bought the first one for my 11-year-old who enjoys reading funny books. He is a boy. Small comparison might be the diary of a Wimpy kid series for the comedy also. When he is reading this book he goes beyond the required minimum time he is supposed to read. He really enjoys the series. I like it because there is no Violence and no swearing. It is a funny book about a dragon.
