Good western
This was the first book by Ralph Cotton that I've read and enjoyed it very much ( I have 5 more books of his in the Burrack series to read). Onee reviewer did mention that many of the outlaws get killed pretty quickly and with out much ogun fighting whihc I tend to agree with. Actually, I found a couple of the outlaws (Teddy Bonsell and Joey Rose) to be somewhat sympathetic and hoped that they would survive, particulalrly Bonsell as he had some funny dialogue and Rose because he tried to help the young girl. Overall, I liked it a lot and look forward to reading the others .

"YOU CAN RUN,BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE"
Arizona's Badlands will do you in, before any bushwackers. Unkind, unfriendly no recall, it's mother nature keeping everything status quo. You have the buzzards, nature's garbage disposals. Ranger Sam "by-god" Burrack, is the other keeper of the Badlands, who will track u into "Mejico"no problem. He's a force to contend with all by himself. He's kind to his animals, even rescued a buzzard who got his head caught in a tin can. He's steadfast and he always gets his man. That's what you'll read in this adventure "Golden Riders" he's persistent, leaves no stone unturned.

Good solid Cotton "Ranger" western
Usual Cotton western, which means very good. Very creative story elements with little reliance upon clichรฉs. Nice to see some secondary characters (young brother and sister) who are strong and smart yet inexperienced. Action descriptions are fair to good, but could be improved in places where author missed opportunities for greater clarity. The Ranger's personality wasn't as strongly presented as it was in other Ranger books. Definite recommendation to buy, though I caution reader not to expect a storyline that is linear.

Ralph Cotton is the best!
One of the best parts of Ralph Cotton's writings is his wry sense of humor. This one, as in many of his novels, will have you laughing out loud. The antics of the bad guys who have drunk bad mescal loaded with peyote and cocaine will leave you in stitches. It did me. Read this one!

Good stories,
I read this type of book now and again when I just want simple, reliable, consistent entertainment. Good stories,, a little history, good guys , bad guys, women, booze, guns, horses and Indians. Like a rerun of Bonanza.

Ranger Burrack
I have enjoyed many books by this author and the ranger barracks series are great. True to his talent this was another great story as only Cotton can write them.

Ranger Sam triumphs again
Ralph cotton is up to snuff again in his latest book. The ranger is full of his usual tricks and bests the golden riders gang in the end.

Enjoyable western.
Good western by a dependable writer. Not as good as some of the other ranger books but as always Cotton spins a decent story. The biggest problem for me with this book is too many characters, the plot seems a little bit all over the place. I did enjoy the humour throughout.Cotton is one of the best modern western writers(along with Johnny D Boggs and Peter Brandvold in my opinion) and I am sure his many fans will enjoy this book. Not his best but a good yarn.
