Will this fit snug a 4th Gen iPad? Will it be in the way of a passenger?

Yes it will fit with no issues! In regards to the passenger I guess it has to do with how big or small the vehicle is! I have a 2010 Honda Accord and a 2007 Pacifica and they fit just fine. My coworker has a civic and his passengers haven't complaint about it!

I would like to take the tablet inside with me on each sales call about 4 times per day. Is it easy to remove and replace tablet in the holder?

Very easy. I was removing and placing my iPad frequently. The hold remained snug.

Will this work with an iPad 3rd or 4th generation?

My iPad was bought 12-10-2011. It was the latest generation then. The only critical measurement is the width of the iPad. (short dimension).
