Worth the Price
First time ever using a pineapple core & slicer and I’m never going back, it was so simple to use and did a great job! It’s a time saver. Sharp, size fit comfortably in hand, didn’t waste as much pineapple as I was worried it would. The material is strong and definitely feels long lasting, I love that it’s stainless steel. Most important, it’s safe to use since I tend to cut myself often wherever using knives lol. Definitely recommend. Cleaning it isn’t too bad either.

Works great on Pineapple. 60 Second carving - Steel is very strong.
We purchased this to make pineapple carving easy. I was tired of constantly trying to trim pineapples. Now, I can get a pineapple sliced and cored in about 60 seconds! It really works well. We've had it for about 9 months had have probably carved over 2-dozen pineapples. We typically go through 1 to 2 pineapples per week now that we have the OXO Good Grips slicer. You just slice the top off, position the slicer on the top and then turn it (and use the ratchet to make it easier). In about 60 seconds, you have a cored, sliced pineapple. I would highly recommend this item if you like pineapple. We find we are eating more of it since we have it because it is so easy to slice. Also, pineapples need to be sliced after you get them home from the store or they will quickly turn on you and rot. This device stops us from procrastinating since it is such a quick and easy slicing process. You do need some hand strength to get it started though. I would not recommend the plastic versions of this that I have seen in a few stores. Having the steel blade and the ratcheting function is extremely helpful. I can't imagine the plastic blade lasting or being as effective at slicing as the steel one from OXO. Pros: Slices and cores pineapples in about 60 seconds Makes uniform circle slices without the core Very easy to use Easy cleanup Cons: You need decent hand strength to hold the pineapple and turn the blade when you first start it. Once you get it started though, it is extremely easy to slice through the rest of the pineapple. I have no issue with it and neither does my wife. It could be a challenge for an elderly person with arthritis in their hands, but I don't know. We purchased 3 more of them for gifts for friends (all women) and they all like it use it frequently. I hope this helps...

Simple simple and delicious result
I saw this demonstrated on a well-known cooking show. I decided to try it. It arrived yesterday and I immediately make a quick trip to buy a fresh pineapple. What should you know: First it works just like advertised. And it is easy to use. Second, if, like me, you've had issues with waste when you attempt to cut a fresh pineapple, there was much less waste using this corer. Once the cored and sliced pineapple are removed (fit's nicely in a quart tall ziploc container) you have the core and the outer shell. I cut out the core and enjoyed eating the remaining fruit. After that I poured out about 3 ounces of pineapple juice. Then I sliced the rind into strips and snacked on those as well! What went in the trash was a fraction of what would normally be lost. Next, clean up; the handle and core protector come off for quick hand cleaning; the stainless main part goes in the dishwasher. Finally, this is an Oxo product; they have a good reputation and deservedly so. So, your only remaining task is to view one of the many on-line descriptions of how to select a perfectly ripe and juicy pineapple, not green nor overripe!

It works a bazillion times better than hand-slicing.
I love pineapples. They're far-and-away my favorite fruit. I could probably eat a whole pineapple in one sitting, although I've admittedly never done it. I also had no idea such a tool for slicing and coring a pineapple existed. So, I bought it and gave it a go. It's actually really easy to use and quite simple in it's design. Essentially, the top of the pineapple gets cut off with a sharp knife, you roughly measure the depth of your pineapple with a gauge etched into the side of the tool, center the cutter in the pineapple, push down and turn. The handle ratchets, which is ingenious, so you can go about a half turn or so, get new leverage and keep going. Once you cut down to the mark you measured earlier the whole thing lifts out and you're left with the shell of the pineapple. The inedible core is embedded inside the hollow part of the tool and a beautiful spiral of delicious pineapple is left on the outside. The handle comes off the tool very easily which allows you to slide the spiral of fruit off. The only difficult part I've encountered is the core. Sometimes it will really wedge itself inside the hollow part of the tool and become difficult to push out. They all come out eventually, but some are a bit more stubborn than others. I'd say that's probably just the way it is; I doubt there's much that can be done to change it. It's comfortable and relatively easy to clean, aside from the aforementioned stuck core problem I've had. Overall, it's about a billion times faster and easier to cut a pineapple with this thing than doing with a knife like a barbarian.

I didn't know I needed this so much until I started using it.
I love pineapple, especially fresh pineapple. I have spent years buying my beloved fruit already cut up and sold in those clear plastic, half quart, "convenience" containers at the grocery store. Yes, I was completely intimidated by the stack of whole, fresh from the field, pineapples, despite the clear monitary savings they offered. Because of my reluctance to attempt to remove the delicious fruit from its spiney skin, I paid three times as much for some unknown person to cut up my pineapple and drop it in a plastic tub. All this changed when I discovered the OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Ratcheting Pineapple Slicer! This little tool is fabulous!!! It peals and cores a fresh pineapple in less than a minute. Simply slice off the top of the pineapple and use the OXO tool to create a long coil of uniformly cut, rings of pineapple. The hard core of the fruit is seperated and out slides a golden cylinder of deliciousness. I was amazed at how much better this pineapple tastes than that precut stuff I had been buying. The tool has already paid for itself in the money I have saved from the prepackaged stuff I used to buy. Don't hesitate to purchase this tool. It is easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to store. The ratcheting handle allows you to work faster and to apply consistent pressure as you work. There are even measuring marks on the cylinder of the tool to help insure you don't cut through the bottom of the fruit. The intact skin left after you remove the fruit makes a unique serving container or even a nifty drinking vessel. Iced tea served in a fresh pineapple cup is delicious and delightful, though I do recommend using a straw when serving. You really can't go wrong with this product. Just for clarification, I have received NO compensation for my review. I truly just like this tool this much.

Perfect pineapple tool
This device works perfectly. It took me a couple of attempts to master the technique. The last pineapple I cored went by in about 4 minutes. I cannot believe I used to use a knife to do this chore. Worthwhile purchase by far.

Best Invention Ever (For Pineapple)
Shoutout to the lady who recommended this on her Instagram. It is so easy to use, and the pineapple literally slides right out. I can't get over how perfect the pineapple rings were. I saw her reel thinking, "yeah right, there's no way I'm going to get perfectly cut rings." I was so wrong. Get the pineapple corer/slicer. You will not be sorry.
