Voodoo Lounge Uncut

Brilliant even if not perfect
This review is for the DVD plus two CD format of the title.“Voodoo Lounge” has been a favourite album of mine since its release in 1994, and I’ve always found it to be far superior to the preceding Stones album (Steel Wheels). I would have been buying this “Voodoo Lounge Uncut” anyway, but that it comes from when “Voodoo Lounge” was being promoted is a big plus for me. However I thought that there might have been more than the four new songs that are performed in the concert that are taken from the “Voodoo Lounge” album namely: “You Got Me Rocking”, “Sparks Will Fly”, “I Go Wild”, and “The Worst”. Those four songs though are amongst some of the best songs from the concert (for me anyway). The guest appearances from Sheryl Crow (Live With Me), Robert Cray (Stop Breakin’ Down), and Bo Diddley (Who Do You Love?), were good, though the band (possibly through Mick or Charlie coming in too early) were out of time with each other for much of Stop Breakin’ Down, which I thought was a shame as the song is such a good one and one that The Stones have done so well at other times – I thought Robert Cray looked quite amused throughout the song. The picture quality of the concert is not perfect to say the least but it’s ok (the concert was seen by a television Pay-Per-View audience at the time).Audio options on the DVD are: Dolby Digital Stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS Surround Sound.Track Listing:Disc 1DVD01 Whoopi Goldberg Intro02 Not Fade Away03 Tumbling Dice04 You Got Me Rocking05 Rocks Off06 Sparks Will Fly07 Live With Me08 (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction09 Beast Of Burden10 Angie11 Dead Flowers12 Sweet Virginia13 Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)14 It's All Over Now15 Stop Breakin' Down Blues16 Who Do You Love?17 I Go Wild18 Miss You19 Honky Tonk Women20 Before They Make Me Run21 The Worst22 Sympathy For The Devil23 Monkey Man24 Street Fighting Man25 Start Me Up26 It's Only Rock'n'Roll (But I Like It)27 Brown Sugar28 Jumpin' Jack FlashCD I01 Whoopi Goldberg Intro02 Not Fade Away03 Tumbling Dice04 You Got Me Rocking05 Rocks Off06 Sparks Will Fly07 Live With Me08 (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction09 Beast Of Burden10 Angie11 Dead Flowers12 Sweet Virginia13 Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)14 It's All Over Now15 Stop Breakin' Down Blues16 Who Do You Love?CD II01 I Go Wild02 Miss You03 Honky Tonk Women04 Before They Make Me Run05 The Worst06 Sympathy For The Devil07 Monkey Man08 Street Fighting Man09 Start Me Up10 It's Only Rock'n'Roll (But I Like It)11 Brown Sugar12 Jumpin' Jack FlashDVD Bonus Tracks:Bonus tracks are genuinely “Bonus” in that they are not taken out of the concert to then be added back in as a bonus (as had been done with some recent releases). There are five tracks from an earlier date on the Voodoo Lounge Tour that weren’t performed in Miami. The Bonus tracks taken from performances at Giants Stadium, New Jeersey:01 Shattered02 Out Of Tears03 All Down The Line04 I Can't Get Next To You05 HappyIncluded in the Bonus Tracks is a brilliant bluesy cover version of the Temptations hit “I Can’t Get Next to You”,The two CD’s in this package have all of the songs from the main concert that are on the DVD and in the same order. The DVD plus two CD’s are presented in a similar package as other recent live releases from the Stones in that it opens like a four page “book” and it comes with a twenty-four page booklet that has information and photographs. “Voodoo Lounge Uncut” will probably be enjoyed by fans if perhaps not by non-fans. Maybe not perfect but I still think it’s brilliant!

The "uncut" version of the Voodoo Lounge? seriously?? Feeling disappointed!
This is not the uncut Voodoo Lounge, it is a concert they performed in 1994 in Miami!! Honestly, I believe the Rolling Stones want to sell lots of live concerts as they've done hundreds of performances. Unfortunately, that's all they have now. However, if they would have published it as "The 1994 Miami concert" they wouldn't have sold as many records as "The uncut version" of the Voodoo Lounge . Sadly, in this "uncut" version you will find only a few songs from the Voodoo Lounge. The worst part of all, is that, as some people had commented before, the sound quality is V poor. This is surprising as the recording quality by 1990's was excellent. If you want to have historic record and you don't bother about the sound quality, this 'bootleg' is suitable for you. Otherwise, you'll be disappointed
